Shockingly, the representative advised her to cancel our current account entirely and open a new one just to qualify for a promotional rate. This immediately raised red flags -- it felt deceptive and predatory, especially toward elderly customers like my mom. We chose not to cancel and instead contacted Spectrum's customer service directly. The tech support team confirmed I could swap out the malfunctioning modem at this store the same day. However, once I arrived with the equipment, I was told by Janet Garcia that she couldn't process the exchange due to another "device" showing on the account. She offered no real help and simply directed me to call customer service again -- something I had already completed. Regardless, I again reached out to the customer service line. While still on the phone with a representative, and after some back and forth, Janet did complete the equipment swap. But when I asked for the serial number of the old modem to help the rep on the line troubleshoot the account issue, Janet refused to provide it, claiming it had already been taken to the back. Only after I insisted did she retrieve the serial number and scribble it onto a piece of paper. To make matters worse, after further investigation, the phone representative confirmed there was never another box on my account. The information Janet gave was completely incorrect and caused unnecessary confusion and delay. What's most concerning is the sense that this location prioritizes upselling and misleading customers -- particularly elderly and non-English-speaking members of the community -- over actually helping resolve basic issues. Whether it was incompetence, indifference, or an attempt to take advantage of my mother by pushing a new account, the end result was a simple modem exchange turning into a frustrating ordeal. Before I left, I asked for Janet's business card. I was told they didn't have any. I then asked her to write her full name on the paper she had just handed me, and she intentionally misspelled her last name as "Harcia" with an "H" instead of Garcia - her real last name. If you or a loved one experience something similar here, I strongly encourage you to file a formal complaint with Spectrum and consider reporting the incident to the Federal Trade Commission. I have been a Spectrum customer for over 20 years, and today I had a very bad experience at the Panorama City location. After waiting more than 30 minutes just to make a payment, two employees--one named Jose (I don't recall the other's name because I wasn't able to take a photo of his name tag)--started chatting with each other as if there were no customers waiting. I asked them, "Why do you make us wait so long and then ignore us?" and the response I received was, "If you don't want to wait, there's a machine right over there where you can make your payment by card." I feel that, after being a customer for over 20 years, I do not deserve this kind of treatment. ESPN was breaking up during the basketball game. Tanya from Spectrum convinced me on the phone it was our equipment and got me an appointment for the next day. Christopher showed up on time. He checked the equipment and all the connections all the way to the street. He replaced several connectors and a few other things. He fixed the issue on ESPN. But then, he saw we had all this old cable wire strung all over the garage from the last homeowners. I told him I was nervous about pulling it out and was going to hire someone to do it. Christopher, the Spectrum technician pulled all that cable down carefully, not affecting the garage door or anything. Then he pulled down an old AT&T wire as well! I've been to this location several times over the years and this man deserves his flowers. I've been a manger for AT&T as well as worked in customer service for over 20 years, he definitely gets a 1,0000 outta 10 for me. We went above and beyond and was so patient with me. He also went as far as to grab a chair for me to sit down after it being a while getting all this situated. Clearly Spectrum doesn't care as one can see how long they've been accumulating poor reviews, this is just a warning for potential customers: BE VERY AWARE Spectrum is dishonest in their dealings and CS Reps will outright lie. I canceled Spectrum Internet because their guaranteed 50 mbps download was never more than 6 mbps and after repeated attempts with Technical service, was told there was no way to improve speed because of where I was in the cable trunk lines, then was told their 'Guarantee' wasn't really a guarantee. Then, after cancellation, Spectrum tried billing for an additional two months when I specifically called and told the rep I would pay until the end of the current billing cycle, then terminate service. Glad I had the foresight to cancel my automatic billing! Next, I started receiving past due notices, and after five calls to CS I was told there was no record of my cancelation! A quick review of Reddit shows hundreds of the exact same complaint: no record of service cancellation and continued billing! I smell a crooked corporate strategy! I got there 10 minutes before my appointment time but the staff was nice enough to still check me in and I saw I was #1 on the list. I overheard from other people that the wait would've been 30 minutes. It took about 10 minutes for me to get help since there was only 3 workers helping customer. Absolutely worse customer service experience. They lie about getting you a discount just to rope you into an extra service you don't need. Then turn off your existing tv channels. When you come back to resolve the issue, they tell you that to get your channels back you have to pay extra. Extra for what? The same channels you were paying less for originally before? I came here to return my cable box. I have never been to this location. I have to say its a nice location. I can't speak about the other Customer Service representatives, but the somewhat older gentleman that assisted me, I think the initials on the receipt was Cashier - TD or TJ or something similar, was simply great! The only thing that was a question, is how online they make you make an appointment and are told to show the appt confirmation. However, when you get there, no one cares about the appointment and you are simply put in a line outside at random with anyone else. Then the security guard is making the decisions on who to let in etc. I thought my appointment was going to mean something. Terrible company, overcharges for service, and your bill is never reliable; it can shoot up $20-$30 per month at the drop of a hat, and does so at least twice a year. I finally cut the cable at the end of last month, was then surprise billed for the equipment I had yet to return... despite the fact that I had to isolate due to COVID and had a broken down car I need to get working before I could drive the equipment back. Showed up today at this Spectrum store location to drop off my equipment, on a Saturday late morning. There is a line around the store to get in, with roughly an hour wait... so that I can drop off their equipment and try to undo the bill. I recommend staying away from Spectrum, they are untrustworthy and bill far too much for far too little in return.
