Temaki has quickly become one of our favorite spots, and the experience was made even better thanks to Gage, Max, and Lily. From the moment we walked in, they were all welcoming, attentive, and genuinely seemed to care about making sure everything was perfect. Gage did an awesome job guiding us through the menu and giving great recommendations. we tried a few things we normally wouldn't have, and they ended up being some of our favorites. Max brought great energy to the table, checking in at the right times and making sure we always had what we needed without ever feeling rushed. Lily was incredibly friendly and detail-oriented, making the whole experience feel smooth and elevated. The food itself was fresh, high quality, and beautifully presented, exactly what you'd hope for from a temaki spot. You can really tell they take pride in both the food and the service. Try tasty. We also ordered Beef Tataki, wasn't what we expected but still good. We didn't not realize it was seared beef, only the edges were cooked the middle was raw. We ordered another bang bang shrimp since the first was so good. The seating is all bar stools so make sure you don't mind sitting at the bar. I also enjoyed the use of crispy garlic and some small rice balls to add crunch and texture to the rolls. My ranking of the 5 set rolls: 1. Scallop 2. Spicy Tuna 3. Shrimp 4. Yellowtail 5. Salmon I also appreciated our server, she like radiated "cool girl" but also super friendly energy. She did the sake bomb chant with us which was fun. "Eat here. Live forever." While I'm fairly certain that Temaki Bar Sushi isn't willing to offer a guarantee on their tagline, they sure know how to capture your attention. I've enjoyed sushi for years, so it wasn't difficult to convince me to try this place (especially considering their post-meal immortality offer). A scan of their menu didn't reveal an exclusive "immortality section", (nor was there a notation requiring some special coupon) so I'm assuming an end to aging is included with all of their menu items. Bolstered by the power of this knowledge, literally how could anyone go wrong when ordering here? ‍ I appreciate their connection to North County San Diego culture and enjoyed their "Moonlight" Roll (homage to nearby Moonlight Beach) and their "Kook" Roll (homage to the nearby Cardiff Kook). The Miso Soup and Edamame were very good, the Crispy Bang Bang Shrimp was even better, and there are also many Vegan choices to consider. Service was nonexistent. We were never checked on during our meal, we waited 15 minutes, stacked our dishes and everything waiting for a server to come help us. We were debating ordering another dish but after waiting so long we decided to just pay and leave. The food itself was fresh, I'll give it that. But there's nothing special to the hand rolls. Decor is modern and they have neat art too. The bar seating is quite tall, at least for me being 5'0. You have two ledges, one where they serve you the Temaki and other rolls, and a lower ledge where you can place your plate and eat. - FOOD - Shishito Peppers: Really nice blistering on these, and super flavorful with the sauce they put on too! Specialty Nigiri: Salmon/Yellowtail/Tuna. This was also a monthly special where they torched the nigiri pieces, all were absolutely amazing!! I loved the flavor combinations they had with each of the fish. Ninja Bunny Roll: I honestly wanted to see the ninja bunny holder so we ordered this as it was the only way to get it. I did really like the roll itself too! Tried their 3 hand roll combo, spicy tuna crispy rice, and hand roll special. I don't think the quality equates to the price. The stand out was the crispy rice, best thing by far. The special was pretty good, but $18 for a standard hand roll is crazy. The salmon in the combo handroll was pretty poor quality and had a strong fishy flavor. Hand roll heaven! I found this restaurant on Yelp while visiting a friend near San Diego. After looking at their menu and being a hand roll fan, I decided to give it a shot. I figured they should have some good, fresh fish since they're right by the ocean, right (haha)? They do have another location in Las Vegas at the Aria Resort & Casino. Locating the restaurant was easy, as it sits on Coast Highway close to an intersection. The most problematic thing was parking, as it was busy as heck on this chilly day (yesterday, Saturday)! I had to park a long block away on a hill, and make my way down to the restaurant. My friend also had to park on another street and walk to the restaurant. When you walk into the restaurant, the host/check-in is to your immediate right in the corner. There is bar seating where you can watch your rolls being prepared/made and a few tables as well. The ambience and decor is nice, and you'll see some cool wall towards the back. Now, to the food! We ordered the following: Cucumber Salad, Agedashi Tofu, Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice, 5 Hand Roll Set, Maine Lobster Hand Roll, King Crab Hand Roll, Dre's Pop N' Rock Hand Roll, Toro Hand Roll, and Blue Crab Hand Roll. Without going into too much detail, here's what I thought of all of the food: - Cucumber Salad: This was refreshing, and tasty. - Agedashi Tofu: I'm not a tofu fan but it was pretty good. Not as fried as I would like, but fried enough to not be as soft as the inside. - Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice: These were good. Little cubes of crispy rice topped with spicy tuna. It's hard to go wrong with this dish. - 5 Hand Roll Set: You get a shrimp, salmon, yellowtail, spicy tuna, and scallop roll. Of these my favorite was the scallop, and my least favorite was the spicy tuna. - Maine Lobster Hand Roll: Delicious and fresh tasting. - King Crab Hand Roll: Also delicious and fresh tasting. - Dre's Pop N' Rock Hand Roll: This was definitely unique. It had some chopped mango inside and Pop Rocks. It was delicious and best to have at the end of the meal. - Toro Hand Roll: Delicious and fresh tasting. - Blue Crab Hand Roll: Very similar in taste to the King Crab Hand Roll. Honestly I couldn't tell the difference but it was equally as good. Service was good overall. The guy that took our order was very friendly, but I didn't catch his name. Like I mentioned earlier, parking is a PITA. There are some spots in front, parking in the back where the train station is, and parking up the street on the hill where the houses are.
