Native Falls Campground - A bird that landed on our deck this morning

    Native Falls Campground

    (258 reviews)

Hidden Gem With a Split Personality -- Know What You're Booking…read more Native Falls (formerly Indian Oaks) sits right between Marietta and Temecula wine country, and it's one of those places that can either be exactly what you want... or completely miss the mark depending on expectations. First impression, this place is visually dialed in. The lake, waterfall, oak trees, and overall layout give it a boutique campground feel you don't usually get this close to Temecula. It feels more like a curated outdoor resort than a rough-it campsite. You're minutes from wineries, but once you're inside, it actually feels tucked away. Where it really shines is family-friendly activity level. This is not sit-in-silence camping. You've got swimming, paddleboards, fishing, pickleball, and a beach-style setup that keeps kids busy all day. If you're bringing family, especially younger kids, this place delivers. The staff consistently gets high marks, and that shows up in real-world experience. People mention they're helpful, friendly, and actually engaged, which is rarer than it should be. The Reality Check: "This is where expectations matter." * Not a quiet nature escape This is more "social campground" than "off-grid retreat." Expect kids, music, movement. If you want silence, this isn't it. * Tent sites can be hit or miss Some are close to the road, so you'll get dust and traffic noise. That breaks the illusion pretty quickly. * Still evolving The place is clearly being upgraded. Some areas feel polished, others still feel mid-renovation. Bathrooms and infrastructure can be inconsistent depending on timing. * More "fun zone" than wilderness Think lake day with camping attached, not deep nature immersion. What It Really Is: This is a hybrid between a campground and a low-key outdoor resort. Great for: Families, casual campers, wine country weekends, group trips Not ideal for: Hardcore campers, solitude seekers, or anyone expecting national park-level quiet Bottom Line: If you go in expecting a polished, activity-driven campground with a great setting, you'll probably love it. If you're chasing peace, silence, and raw nature, you'll leave wondering what the hype was about.

There was food in the fridge when we arrived, and the floors were dirty. I didn't expect that we'd need to clean the cabin in order to use it. They were doing heavy construction throughout the campgrounds, including directly in front of our cabin, waking us up each of the mornings we were there. It was difficult to use the amenities available, and we ended up leaving early because of that. The campground lost WiFi early in our stay and it was still out when we left. Seeing as how the TVs in the cabin depend on the WiFi, they were unusable. Our issues were met by shrugs from the management. Would not return

Shops, restaurants, beaches and yes Lego Land. We were in town for 5 days and set up our RV here. The staff was friendly as well as alot of the guests. Here's where this location fell short. 1. It smelled like a Greatfull Dead concert 24 / 7 from all the 60's generation pot smokers and 2. Alot of the parents were too busy drinking instead of watching their kids and keeping them from running into people at night on their bikes and did I also mention mom's taking their son's into the women's restroom who are clearly old enough to use the men's restroom on their own? It was just weird and super uncomfortable. But this rv park is centrally located to everything and within walking distance to everything. We didn't find the train to be a problem and I loved the fact that they have security since the homeless population around the outside of the park usually shows up during the day and at night. The restrooms and showers are clean and the staff is fantastic about returning calls. They do allow fur babies as long as they behave themselves but check for breed restrictions. I highly recommend making reservations way in advance.

The cabins are very clean with a lot of amenities you normally would not find in a cabin. It really felt more like a a hotel but smaller spaces. Internet is not the greatest, but that's not the kind of stuff I'm looking for when I'm with family in this kind of a setting. If you're about your devices then make sure you bring your own hotspot. The grounds were also kept really nice and they have plenty of things to do including a bar which was very lively around the new year. The only cons are that you have a lot of kids on e-bikes. Be careful out there.

We stayed in an older more developed part of the campground and it was semi ok. Sites were tight but clean. Had all the hookups and a fire pit. But it was loud. Neighbors across from us in the center portion of the section were obnoxiously loud. We could hear their conversations clearly because they were yelling across camp sites (they were a group traveling together.) And I'm all for fun, but show a little courtesy. And one night, they illuminated the entire campground with what can be only described as the sun. It's the brightest light I ever seen. It was stronger than movie studio lights and they had it raised high on a pole so it shown down on the entire area. It's the first time I almost went to another camp site and told someone off. Our site was at the base of a hill and you could see our shadows against the hill the light was so bright. I had to move our car to block the light. I ended up not going over to their site and they finally turned it off. Unreal. Then the music from the restraint area was blaring until 10p. Electric bikes and golf carts were everywhere as well. It's a huge campground so I get people need them but they're a little dangerous in the evening. The bathroom stalls were flooded and the showers had holes in the walls and were very run down. I had great time with my wife and our dogs, plus we had nice neighbors on either side which was good, but I don't think we'll be back. For the money there are better options. I'd suggest this KOA fix up the bathrooms and put some courtesy rules in place. I still can't believe those people with light.

Just be sure to purchase tokens at the front for the shower. - Dog friendly! You can bring your pet along but they must be on leash and aren't allowed on the beach. - Carlsbad has the most captivating sunsets, and if you're lucky, you'll even see a few dolphins. There's a dog park, a dog washing station, a laundry room, showers, a pool, picnic areas and hook ups for water, electricity and sewage. I felt at ease. I couldn't wait to come back... Unfortunately things changed and broke my heart. My suv was experiencing power steering issues so security was kind enough to allow my partner and I to gather up some items at auto zone and work on our car in an empty area of the Pala parking lot. As my partner was finishing up, I told him we may as well just pay for another night at the rv resort so we could use their showers because he was covered in sweat and car fluids. I walked over there and spoke to the nice young girl I had communicated with earlier and told her I'd like to reserve another night and I'm happy to pay (my stay was comp'd due to my player status at Pala Casino). Her reply was "I understand but unfortunately your RV is not allowed to be at our resort anymore. We cannot accept it. The photos you submitted were not the same as what we saw in person." See, I had to get my RV approved to even be allowed before I arrived because of the year (1998). I sent in good pictures of course with great angles... I want the vehicle to look as nice as possible. It was the motorhome version of "you can't sit with us" from mean girls. I was stunned. I'm still stunned. We fit in with every other person there at the resort. I'm sorry our motor home wasn't 6 figures. But it's not an eye sore by any means. It's just not a crazy luxury one like the others that surrounded us. I mean, one of the neighbors admitted his vehicle was $400k+ and invited us to come in and look around. It looked like the Taj Mahal without exaggeration. I know my face fell and I simply replied "...oh..". The girl then goes "I see your stay was a casino comp, can't you go to the hotel?" I was mortified. I just said "yeah... I guess." And I walked away. And I cried. Apparently because my RV isn't brand new and expensive, I am undeserving of a nice, comfortable place that feels like a second home to visit with my loved ones and our humble motorhome. Weeks pass and after my partner spoke to the manager, she let him know that two things needed to be fixed on our Class A: the awnings and the apparent unsightly what appeared to be small areas of "rust" towards the top of the RV. We went ahead and removed those issues. I proceeded to attempt to book a few nights there and I received a response stating that although they appreciate us fixing the cosmetic issues, now apparently we are told from our last visit, either the RV or my Mercedes SUV left a, once again, unsightly oil or liquid substance behind on the pad where we were parked. And I quote, "To stay at the Pala RV Resort, all vehicles must be well maintained and in good running condition. Unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate a stay at this time". Honestly, I don't know why I continue to become shocked by the types of responses I receive from this place. I don't know what kind of training they're given but the elitest vibe and the "you guys aren't good enough" attitude shot back at adults who are just trying to find a comfortable, safe and pleasant area to reside for a few days in our motor home along with our sweet dogs is just so unnecessarily rude, cruel and demeaning. Is the upscale reputation being upheld far more important than respect, kindness and a helpful, welcoming vantage point? In conclusion, as long as your trailer or motor vehicle is pristine, less than 20 years old and you are upper middle, upper class or better yet, a one percenter, this place is PERFECT for you, all your needs will be met, respect will be given to the utmost degree. If you are anything less than that, go find yourself a spot in a Walmart parking lot or the bureau of land management because you won't have a place for yourself here... well, you may get a "pass" for a stay but then you'll be reminded how unworthy you are to be in "such a high standard establishment." Above offended and angry, I'm hurt, upset and appalled by the way this has been handled. Thinking of these interactions actually gives me a great discomfort in my stomach and it's a shame.

We paid $490 upfront for one night of glamping, knowing it was steep but worth it for the convenience. With busy schedules across five families, one night was all we could coordinate. When we arrived at the Ranger station, I was told we weren't on the list for Saturday night. Instead, my name was marked as a no-show for the previous night. I showed my reservation confirmation, but the Ranger explained the tents were run by a third party and gave me the owner's number. My calls went to voicemail. Hipcamp's customer service didn't respond. Eventually, Andy--the owner--called back. Turns out, Andy had double-booked our tents and claimed the other guests were already settled in--even though we arrived before check-in. He had no backup accommodations to offer. I was stunned. We had packed cars with food, clothes, firewood, and supplies. This trip had been planned for six months. I had to call two other moms mid-drive and tell them to turn around. We scrambled to find two hotel rooms so the girls could still have a mini reunion, but it was more expensive and nowhere near the experience we'd envisioned. To top it off, Andy asked me, "Haven't you ever made a mistake?" That's not how you handle a business error that disrupts five families' plans. This wasn't a simple mistake--it was a complete failure in communication, accountability, and customer service. Think twice before booking with The Holidays.

Good things: We thought the bathrooms and showers were very clean. The food at Moes was good as were the drinks. The store was well-stocked with toys, food, and clothing. The pool and jacuzzi were great, and the kids loved them. Kids' activities and games were plentiful, and they also enjoyed the playground. Staff was helpful in the office. Security was present and doing lots of rounds the first two nights (did not see them the busy Friday night). The camp was VERY, impressively, quiet at night. Middling things (mind you, the campground is not in control of these!): the sand is not soft sand like at the coastal beaches. Kids will probably need shoes for the shells and rocks, and it's packed super hard. The campground is under the flight path of John Wayne airport, so expect to know when it's 7 am each day since that's when the planes begin roaring overhead. Not-so-great things: the sites are super close together. Yes, you will be packed in like sardines, especially in the "standard" back row sites, which were completely filled when we visited. It is hard to back in when trucks are parked along the road, in front of the tiny sites- there is VERY little room for error. The sites are ALL DIRT, which I did not think would be so bad until I lived it. (Never again, unless I buy some turf at some point.) When campers dump their waste, expect to get some whiffs. (Many reviews note something about the angle of the dump/hose- we don't have a bathroom in our trailer so I can't attest to that issue.) Finally, the single biggest deal breaker for us was the allowed use of wood burning fire pits at sites. Since everyone is crammed in there, people burning wood on Friday night resulted in the paths and trailers and even the bathrooms being filled with smoke. They should only allow gas burning fire pits! So yeah- if we return it will only ever be mid week and preferably in the off-season.
