With that said I had two sons go through William Collier. My youngest just promoted from 5th grade and is on to middle school. My 13 year old who is entering the 8th grade went preschool through 5th grade and my 10 year old who just promoted to 6th grade went K through 5th. Both my sons really liked WCE. My experience through the years is the front office we're always kind, helpful and friendly. And all the teachers they had seemed to always care for the students. Maybe I'm being a little sentimental but I'm going to miss having a child attending WCE. Thank you for all the fond memories. So...... IF you're one of those parents who just expect to drop their kids off and their kids get straight A's then maybe a private school is more your thing. But if you're heavily involved in your child's daily life in and outside the classroom then WCE will be more than fine. Thank you for the fond memories WCE!

All year last year I actually thought the VP was the Principal because he is the only person I saw all the time doing the duties of the Principal, having contact with the kids and parents. Don't even get me started on the lady in the front office. I just don't understand why people are so unhappy working when there are so many people unemployed looking for work. Many people would love to have her job and would enjoy coming to work everyday, why can't they find someone like this. All the other schools I've been too, the people working there are very happy and helpful, they are excited to have a job and get out early and have every Holiday and Fur-low day off. A major grip I have is that it seems that there is a lot of favoritism going on with the kids and their performing arts. For example when they do shows on/off campus, they have some kids singing a set of songs or one song by themselves when NO other kids where given an equal opportunity to audition for that spot. The teachers that are running the performances are putting their kids, or kids they know or like in the show with out giving every child at that school the opportunity to try out for it, it is not fair to the other kids; every one should have a chance to try out for these opportunities as well, and the best kid should get the chance? After all, I thought this was a performing arts type school, all these kids should have equal opportunities, regardless of who their parents are or who they know at the school.

But really I had so many opportunities at this school than regular private schools. I went here from k-8th grade and then decided to go to a public high school and wow. I really noticed that my math and english skill sets surpassed my class mates. It is not only the fantastic education I received here that makes this school, it is all the field trips and one on one attention you receive in a class of 18 students. For my 8th grade graduation our class got to go on a Disney cruise to the Caribbean! Now that is cool! Our drama classes were excellent too. We even put on dinner plays and sold tickets as fun raisers. I am now a college graduate and looking back on my educational experience here I will have to say I will definitely enroll my kids in private school. They communicate clearly, are very responsive, and genuinely want students to succeed. One thing to note is that finals do require students to turn on their webcams for proctoring, but the teachers are very understanding and accommodating throughout the process. Overall, I highly recommend Method Schools for families looking for a supportive, flexible, and student-centered learning experience. Update: Be sure your child takes screenshots of all grades and stays logged into the SmartFox app while using Edmentum as it tracks all activity. My son's midterm later showed as incomplete, even though he had proof and login records. The principal claimed his A grade was a glitch, but we confirmed with the course teacher it was accurate. Only the course and homeroom teachers were able to fix it. Document everything! It really matters.

Our family has been part of Method Schools since 2018. So much has changed, mostly positive, some…read morenegative. Method excels in offering extracurriculars, sports, events, AP, honors and advanced courses. They have Dehesa Method Sports Academy which is tailored towards athletes in San Diego county and they recently started The Academy at Method which is a dual enrollment program designed to offer students an early start in advancing their education by taking college courses while in high school. Method has a lot of potential to be a Blue Ribbon school or even a California Distinguished School. It is a K-12 charter school registered in the Acton-Agua Dulce Unified with the California Department of Education. The school primarily offers virtual instruction. Overall my daughter has mixed feelings about her education at Method. As a parent, I appreciate the school's variety of course offerings. I went to a very good high school in OC and I wanted the same for my daughter. If you're considering Method for your child, Method has a yearbook, offers prom, has several yearly events for K-8 and the 9-12 events are mainly led by the high school ASB. As of this review, to my knowledge, Method offers National Honor Society, Hope Squad, Yearbook, and several others high school led clubs. There are some problems that I hope Method improves on. Firstly, lack of transparency. Since Method is primarily online, there should be no question for students or parents on who is leading the school. At an in-person school, most students and parents know who the principal or vice principal is. Most of our time at Method, we didn't know who the principal was. They sometimes call that person the Head of Schools, but you don't know if it's for K-12 or 9-12. Either way, it adds to confusion and distracts from learning. Unfortunately, Method is extremely biased and has double standards. I've experienced this many times, so it's not an isolated issue. Method's administration and teachers don't always respond to an email. Conflict is a part of life and not a fun part; however, when issues need to be addressed, communication is important. Method gets an F in this area. They do not know how to deal with conflict, whether it is with students or parents. Regarding the double standards, the teachers and staff send out emails stating that their meetings are 'mandatory', but it is not fairly applied to all students. Whenever we're told a meeting is mandatory, it's pretty harsh language, 'required' would be more appropriate but nonetheless we attend the meeting. Other students that don't attend are still allowed to participate in the event even if they didn't attend the 'mandatory' meeting which isn't fair. That means the meeting wasn't mandatory after all. My daughter took a college class her junior year but was not given a weighted grade for that class.College classes are more challenging than highschool classes. Regarding AP testing. As of this review, Method does not offer in-person proctoring for their offered AP tests. We are so glad they offer AP tests. It really benefits students so I strongly advocate for it. Unfortunately, Method doesn't really understand how the AP process works. We were told the school would pay the AP testing fee, and we were ecstatic. However, that excitement was short-lived as we realized Method was only supposed to provide us with the College Board AP code, if they would be administering the test. This created a lot of confusion. Since they don't administer the test we had to find a local school with a seat available, and pay $90+ out of pocket for the test, removing the AP code Method gave us. I wish Method had an honor roll system. My daughter worked very hard in high school and achieved 4.0 a couple of semesters and over 3.5 in several other semesters, but didn't receive acknowledgment. She also achieved high scores on the CAASPP test in Science, Math, and English but received no acknowledgment. I've noticed the staff seems intent on doing everything alone without incorporating parents or students. I'm sure they're overwhelmed by doing that. They often speak to parents as if we don't know or understand anything, and they treat us all like we're children. We have valuable contributions. It's frustrating not being heard. I wish I could add more, but this unabridged version is already quite long. I will say the staff and administration is nice and well meaning but they way they do things is extremely frustrating and sometimes backwards. Even the transcript request method is frustrating. They used to include the entire K-12 transcript, and it was like pulling teeth just requesting high school years for the transcript. It shouldn't be like this, especially when it should be expected that colleges only want to see 9-12 grades, not elementary or middle school grades. There's no perfect school. I'm just sharing some of what we've experienced. The flexibility is what kept us there for so long.

I had the unfortunate opportunity to meet and speak with a front desk registrar named Julie Brown. I explained to Ms. Julie Brown that I spoke to the other registrar, Ms. Denise and that Ms. Denise was kind enough to waive the fee for the Transcripts ($5) and Diploma ($20). Julie Brown in the most condescending and disrespectful way told us, "well you can stand here I get off at 3:30. All of the registrars will make you pay." I asked if she would call Ms. Denise and she snatched the phone up and with a loud sigh and gigantic eye rolling called on the PA for Ms. Denise. Ms. Denise did confirm that they would wave the ($20) for the diploma but would still need to pay ($5) for the official transcripts. I proceeded to pay her with a twenty dollar bill and Julie Brown said, "I don't have any change and we only except exact amounts. You can get change at the liquor store down the street but I'm leaving in 15 min." I said ok and proceeded outside to the car. Upon leaving a family approached me and spoke with me about how disrespectful Julie Brown had been to me and thanked me for my service. I am utterly shocked at how horrible she was to me and this young man. I have no idea if she's having a bad day...but I pray she isn't like this to the kids or families that attend this school. The faculty should take measures to reeducate Ms. Julie Brown on customer service and communication behavior.

A few days a week, they do 100 mile club runs in the morning. It promotes physical activities for the children and also the parents, since they're allowed to participate as well. There could be a better process to picking up the kids, but this is more for the parents than for the school. Some people need to learn how to take turns going into the school for children pick up.
