Looking back at my educational experience here I am very satisfied. At the time when I was going here I was a bit upset, I mean really, what kid wants to wear a red, white and blue jumper to school every day? But really I had so many opportunities at this school than regular private schools. I went here from k-8th grade and then decided to go to a public high school and wow. I really noticed that my math and english skill sets surpassed my class mates. It is not only the fantastic education I received here that makes this school, it is all the field trips and one on one attention you receive in a class of 18 students. For my 8th grade graduation our class got to go on a Disney cruise to the Caribbean! Now that is cool! Our drama classes were excellent too. We even put on dinner plays and sold tickets as fun raisers. I am now a college graduate and looking back on my educational experience here I will have to say I will definitely enroll my kids in private school. This school does not provide education or individual attention to students at a high level for a private school. The teachers and principal don't take the responsibility when you complain about their low standards and are quick to deflect and blame the student instead. Not impressed with how it's managed and a huge waste of money!! Not getting the quality education for the high tuition!! I would give 10 stars if I could!! I have a son going into 4th grade who has attended Van Avery Prep since 1st grade. Every one of his teachers has been amazing!! The faculty are all wonderful and Miss Tina has been absolutely fabulous!!! My son has had some issues with focusing in the class and it was addressed immediately by his teacher, with a follow up meeting with Miss Tina to hear everything of concern. She listened and then gave wonderful ideas to implement in the class as well as at home to help him. No conclusions were jumped to on her end and she listened to everything before expressing her ideas. I felt relieved and empowered in helping my son upon leaving that meeting. As a parent of one child already graduated I know how challenging it can be navigating through the school system, So I can honestly say I feel Blessed to have found this school. The Fabulous teachers here and Incredible faculty have earned my complete trust. My 5 year old daughter will be starting kindergarten this year and I am happy to be able to feel confident that she will be in loving and completely capable hands!! I would and DO recommend Van Avery Prep to all my friends as well as anyone I happen to meet looking for an Excellent school for their children. I must tell you about my experience with Van Avery Prep School in Temecula, CA. Now, I really know this place inside and out- as a former teacher who was treated exceptionally well, and most importantly, as a very satisfied parent of a Van Avery Prep graduate. Our son attended VAP consistently from kindergarten through eighth grade. Transitioning to one of the top public IB high schools in the nation, I'm proud to tell you our son was extremely prepared for the rigorous academic adventure that awaited him. Van Avery Prep School provided a well-rounded educational experience for our son that upheld high academic standards, and prioritized the appreciation of literacy, art, drama, travel, music, and cultural diversity. Essential for his success, he developed strong leadership skills at VAP which included: public speaking experience, frequent opportunities for effective collaboration with others, the encouragement and ability to finish what he started, participation in helpful service-based projects, and the emphasis on building positive and lasting friendships. It was the dedicated and caring teachers and administrators who provided the safe and nurturing environment where our son flourished. At VAP he grew from a shy kindergartener, into a well-adjusted, respectful teenager who shouted at the top of his lungs in the car one day after an inspiring eighth grade science lesson, "Mom, I finally know what I want to be when I grow up! I want to be a biologist like my teacher! I'm can do this." I am happy to report that this Van Avery graduate DID EXACTLY THAT. Van Avery Prep was my children's home (and mine) for 15 years ( I have 3 children ), I can not imagine what our lives would look like without them. Van Avery was a lot like our extended family; as a working mother it was very important for me to have my children somewhere where I knew they were cared for and somewhere that understood our needs as a family. My children excelled in High School academically and socially because of the strong base they developed while at Van Avery, they were both challenged and encouraged. They developed confidence in speaking in front of people ( lots of practice) and they develop the skills to communicate effectively, essentially they became equipped to enter High School and take advantage of all it has to offer. My children have all graduated from college now and I do give credit in part to Van Avery for their accomplishments. My children and I built long life friendships with our Van Avery contemporaries and continue to share our lives with them. My family and I have been a member of the Van Avery Prep family for over 14 years. We did not make that decision lightly. Looking back, we could not have made a better investment in our children. We were fortunate to have had a wonderful, caring & nurturing staff throughout our experience. Never once did we worry about how our children would be treated nor did we need to worry about the level of education our girls received. Both of our girls were members of the national Honor Society and our oldest a Hune Award recipient. We were also very pleased with the fact that our daughters were allowed to be there own people, never compared to one another by academics or personality. They were encouraged to thrive in their own strengths, never compare themselves to anyone and to never accept that something was unattainable... a skill that has gotten them both very far, not only in their academic careers but life as well. However, academics was only part of their Van Avery experience. Both of my girls were encouraged be well-rounded and to participate in as many sports as possible. To build their skills on the court as well as the valuable lessons of being a positive teammate & to learn sportsmanship. Leading to my oldest receiving a Full-Ride Division I Scholarship to college in volleyball. The Arts program at Van Avery has been second to none. Through seasonal performances to talent shows, Van Avery allowed each student to search for their hidden talent, refine it & give it a shot. No wall flowers. Some were even pleasantly surprised to find a talent and life-long passion to perform. I truly believe it was this type of encouragement that allowed my girls to assimilate into many unknown situations with ease to never be afraid to give something a try . They were allowed to soar! I was very active in all field trips ( I have chaperoned them ALL!) and witnessed first hand the detail that goes into each child's experience. All of this stems from a love of children. A dedication to children. This filters down from the front office to each and every classroom. After graduating from Van Avery, both of my children make repeated visits, till this day, to visit with the staff that they consider their friends and family. They are always greeted with hugs and smiles and want to be regaled with how they are doing.The owners and staff still reach out and follow the college success and athletic success of former students. They are vested in the kids. Van Avery Prep IS a private school and tuition is a necessity. With that being said, not for one moment, do I feel that ever came before a student. I have seen,personally, how Van Avery has come to the aid of students and families in need. Being the first to step up & lend a hand . Much of this done quietly and out of the public eye. No recognition needed, just knowing that something had to be done and they did it. I know many of the staff members from over the past 14 years quite well. Many have gone on to other positions after their children graduated from Van Avery. They believed so strongly in the education that they wanted their own children to be a part of it. Others have moved on to receive promotions. I believe that is the same in any business. We are all grateful for all of them and the impact that they have had on my children while at Van Avery. I have had two of my three children graduate from Van Avery Prep and still have one left in middle school this year. My oldest child graduated from high school two years ago. Of the eight universities he applied to, he was accepted to all eight. If you ask him what was the key to his academic success, he will tell it was the wonderful foundation he had from his Van Avery days. My daughter is on a similar path now in her third year of high school. Every year seems to get better than the last. I have known this Van Avery family for ten years. I had two children in Van Avery. I have had many dinners at their homes. I have had their children sleep over at my home. Before you place your children in Van Avery you should know this, this family is all about money. Van Avery has lost Miss Kim, Mr. Matt, Miss Dana, and now Miss Lynn. Van Avery is now run by Miss Tina and Miss Angela. Miss Angela has had two children graduate from Van Avery and has named both of her children Student of the Year. Can you imagine the odds of that happening in the real world. I was standing next to the student that should have been the Student of the Year and this 14 year old turns to me a say," I could have cured cancer and I still would not have won". Can you imagine that frustration? Miss Angela has absolutely no integrity. In fact, neither does her sister. It is all about the money for these two. Many of the staff do the best they can and most are great teachers. Van Avery has had their best and brightest teachers leave. Mr.Matt had to leave because he wanted to be treated fairly and wasn't .Miss Dana has left as did Miss Kim. I just found out that Miss Lynn has left. Miss Lynn asked for a referral for a principal position and Miss Angela did not talk to Miss Lynn for a year. Who does that? Many people have had their kids in Van Avery and when faced with the reality of Van Avery many leave their children in Van Avery because the kids have made friends and most parents do not want to upset those friendships. Van Avery Prep is the best school in the Temecula Valley. I have three children who attended VAP and Kids World. Van Avery Prep provides a fun education in a loving environment. My eldest was well prepared for high school and completed the IB program which provided advancement in the UC system. VAP helps build full, well rounded students. They offer a complete sports program, drama and arts, debate, leadership, hands in science programs, honor society and lots of other programs. I love the way the teachers really care about the children and put extra effort into helping the children succeed and grow. Whether it be field trips, U.S. History competitions, gardening at the school, or after school tutoring, the teachers really care. My children went to Van Avery from kindergarten through middle school and I was very pleased with how well they were prepared for high school....even beyond what the majority of kids were coming from public school. Tomorrow is the start of a wonderful new school year at Van Avery Prep and although our 3 kids graduated from this school a few years back, I still, to this day, miss the family like atmosphere and the wonderful administration and staff! We were a Kids World and Van Avery family for over 15 years and when looking back, we wouldn't change a thing. The education, confidence, athletic abilities, field trips and making life long friends are only a few of the amazing experiences the students get while attending this school. You feel safe when dropping your kids off at school and I love the uniforms they wear. This keeps all students equal, conservative and looking sharp. I can promise you that you will not be sorry for the investment made to give your children the best possible education. Well worth every dime. If you were invited to the wonderful home of any of these families then they have treated you as one of their own. For your information, Teachers move on. Every school has teachers leave for a variety of reasons and in most cases it isn't because they were treated unfairly it is because another opportunity came up and they decided to make the change. This happens in every business, not just in education. "No integrity" obviously you do not know them as well as you think. That is a pretty harsh comment and I couldn't disagree more! This family is not "all about money". They run a very successful business that happens to be in education. They have been in this valley for many, many years and are obviously doing something very right. They teach our children how to learn and how to be who they want to be. Do you know that close to 100% of their graduates end up in the top of their graduating class in high school and continue that success in college as well? VAP has taught our children how to time manage efficiently and balance all their activities. Our children are in college and high school. They both still talk about how attending VAP has helped them stay focused on homework FIRST and any extracurricular activities comes after. One of our children graduated from GOHS IB Programme and the younger one is following the same high school pattern. Because of the solid and structured foundation set by VAP's curriculum and enforced by all the VAP teachers, our children were prepared to succeed not only academically but athletically and socially, as well. After reading one of these reviews, I feel compelled to write a review myself of Van Avery Prep. My son attended from pre-school through 8th grade. These good and gracious people were his other family for over 10 years. They took a young person with great potential and taught him much more than what is between the pages of any text book. He was nurtured,and encouraged, he was urged to work hard and to find his own way. Early on in middle school he expressed his desire to attend one of the US Military Academies. His mother and I, his teachers, the school administrators all knew of his desire and instilled in him the knowledge and the capacity to achieve his dream. He finished VAP and went to Temecula Valley High where he took what he had learned and excelled. I am very proud to be the father of a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy and now Ensign in the United States Navy. My son, thanks in a very big part to his VAP family, will be doing what he decided he was going to do in the sixth grade...make this world a much safer place for everyone. My kids went to Van Avery and Kids World. It was by far the best decision we ever made as parents for our children. When you select a school, keep in mind that for 8 hours (sometimes more) a day 10 months +/- a year your kids will not ONLY be learning academically but actually "growing up" at school and developing their personalities, social skills and importantly their confidence for their future. Van Avery administration, faculty, teachers will ALL give their hearts 100% to your kids which is so important during these development "growing up" years K-8. The owners at Van Avery -we now know well now after so many years- want nothing more than to see ALL of their students succeed in their future. And they will. If you look at the graduates who went on to the local high schools and colleges, you will see they are elected into leadership positions, presidents of their class, homecoming court, sports (and team captains), honor society, and forming their own clubs, community service, etc. Coming from Van Avery to a large public high school setting can be scary as a parent so we were overwhelmed with happiness to see our kids (as well as their Van Avery Prep Peers) flourish with these experiences during their high school years, plus exceed academically in AP classes. We've seen so many Van Avery Prep graduates at the top of their class in their respective high schools with these leadership experiences ---and then go on to thrive in college and beyond. It all starts in the beginning of life --as they grow and develop. They will be enriched with academic experiences and confidence.... also arts, sports, and more. They will also always be on stage in plays, musical performances, award ceremonies, etc. --and this helps build their confidence in front of audiences. I can't say enough. If we had to do it again, we'd choose Van Avery. Our kids agree too - great memories!
