I was never a fan of private schools until my daughters enrolled their kids at California Lutheran…read moreAcademy. What changed my mind: a year before either grandchild was eligible to play -- football for one, volleyball for the other -- they were able to hang out with the support team. A whole season learning the sport from the inside, with upperclassmen showing them the ropes. By the time they could suit up, they already belonged. That's the culture here. No animosity between grades, no pecking order, none of what I associate with public school. Just people helping people, and kids learning to do the same. Add classmates from over 13 countries, and it's a rare education.

We have been so grateful for the experience our children have had at this special school. CLA has a wonderful family-like atmosphere where students are truly known and cared for. The school, its teachings, and its dedicated teachers are firmly Christ-centered, with faith woven into both academics and everyday life. The academics are excellent, with challenging opportunities including AP classes. Students also have wonderful opportunities to participate in sports and extracurricular activities, regardless of their interests or experience level. Most of all, we appreciate the caring, dedicated staff who genuinely invest in each student. CLA has been a blessing to our family, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a Christ-centered school with strong academics and a close-knit community!

Overall a decent school but something is missing this year. You want to guess what? The one and…read moreonly Mommy Cheryl Baber Thompson. (Chunk Bunk for short) I can't believe she retired and I was so disheartened and disappointed to hear she has retired as of last year. I heard the news from my kiddo Rebecca Jones, 8th grade. Never will there be another one like Cheryl Baber Thompson and I hope Madam Turk can fulfill her duty as the greatest and biggest teacher at Shivela so far. (No pun intended am I right Crystal?) My kids have had fun times here and my last daughter is leaving this year. I'll miss what my kids call "Papa Hamm" or "Big Brett BARTlett." Some may even call the assistant principal Mr. Brown the "Boot Duster Brown" as in he dusts boots. No idea what that means. We love Mr. Brown in this household. Anyways, thanks mama bear Cheryl for all you did. I'll miss you and your pigtails that showed your scalp and made my kids want to "throw up." Their words, not mine. Love and wishes!

This school is the WORST thing in the world; every single one of my 15 kids that have gone here…read morecame out gay, lesbian, bisexual, or BALD. Like, for example, as even Brent B. has said, the school has some sort of balding disease. This school has horrible staff and has the kids becoming zesty. Yesterday at the school, I heard a kid say how he loves Papa Ham... unacceptable! I would rather watch Madame Web, Lesbian Space Princess, and Dean Witherspoon than send another one of my five middle children to this school. I will now provide a list of things I HATE about this school. 1. The teachers 2. The staff 3. The zesty kids 4. The ground 5. The trees As we see, EVERYTHING here is horrible. The S.S. teacher, Mr. Vancoochies or whatever, is saddening to watch and makes me want to look like Brent B. And now kids are getting freaky here... and yes, that is actually true! Some will call this slander or overdramatized, but I would rather goon with sandpaper than go here once more. Honestly, flat-earthers are better. MY good friend Brent B. had become totally EMO from this school... I rank this, if I could, -10/10 stars; WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!

With that said I had two sons go through William Collier. My youngest just promoted from 5th grade and is on to middle school. My 13 year old who is entering the 8th grade went preschool through 5th grade and my 10 year old who just promoted to 6th grade went K through 5th. Both my sons really liked WCE. My experience through the years is the front office we're always kind, helpful and friendly. And all the teachers they had seemed to always care for the students. Maybe I'm being a little sentimental but I'm going to miss having a child attending WCE. Thank you for all the fond memories. So...... IF you're one of those parents who just expect to drop their kids off and their kids get straight A's then maybe a private school is more your thing. But if you're heavily involved in your child's daily life in and outside the classroom then WCE will be more than fine. Thank you for the fond memories WCE!
