The Tempe Improv is back!!! And better than it ever was!!! First, you will be more than impressed by the décor alone, it looks like a true performance theater complete with a balcony and an upstairs bar. On the main showroom floor we had plenty of room to move around in our seats. (compared to the old club which had round tables, ugh!) The seating is lined up in rows, which means there is virtually no bad seat in the entire place. Frank Calliendo was so damn funny!! I have never seen him live, so this was a real treat. Our server was excellent, even though it was the opening weekend and they were very, very busy. The food and drinks were just right, both in taste and price. I even took my souvenir glass and had it signed by Frank. If you haven't been to the Improv in a while or ever before, now is the time to go! This place is going to become one of the hottest spots in Tempe! I will go again and again and again. Great job guys, Tempe Improv rocks it!!! read more

Great venue. The seating is actually pretty comfortable, even if you're not in a booth, and the club is small enough to where you don't feel like you're miles away from the comedian. Food ranges from mediocre to OK. Chicken tenders are better than I thought they would be. Spinach dip was pretty good. Nachos are average at best but the portion size is generous. I wish the accompanying jalapenos were spicy. House chardonnay, cab, or merlot for $7 is a pretty good deal considering the standard two drink minimum. Service was really good. Everyone is friendly and knowledgeable. There's plenty of parking because it's located in a strip mall kind of area. Overall, very nice. I am looking forward to seeing more shows here. read more

I was there last night for a bachelorette party. We were seated near the stage, we had the greatest wait staff making sure that everything was ordered properly delivered to the right people even after we did a chair change and they were polite and friendly and engaging. The people that we sat next to were kind and funny and joined in on our fun. The drink I ordered was strong and it came with tickets for two to see another show which was a great offer. I love this place the comedians were funny I love that it was clean and we had great customer service. I will be back plenty of times in the future. I absolutely LOVE going to the Tempe Improv- even if it is in ASU territory (sorry I'm a UofA Alum). I've been to the Improv many times- for date night, with friends, with visiting family members, and every time we have a great experience. Lately, the improv has been giving out free tickets, which we've been taking advantage of. This is a great place to go when you want to do something different/special. There is a two item/drink minimum, which for us isn't usually a problem. We'll go for dinner or get drinks and dessert. The food is just ok, but really you're not going for that. The prices can be high, but really for a night out, it's not too bad, just depends on what you're comfortable spending. They don't offer refills on soda, which is weird, and the tables are very close together and you often get sat with people you don't know. This can be awkward sometimes, but just adds to the whole experience. Anyways- sorry for the babbling... just go to the improv! It's a good time for all and you will surely enjoy yourself! read more

If you are in to the comedy scene in the Valley, then you know about the Improv. Premium acts, good venue and as good or better food, drinks and service as you will find in similar comedy clubs. Only complaint is that much the seating isn't exactly ergonomically friendly...which is easy to deal with by showing up early. Otherwise, you'll be one of the 20% who has to turn their head 180° to see the act. read more

I've seen a few good shows here: Doug Loves Movies, Maria Bamford, Adam Carolla, Brian Posehn (first comedy show--saw him before they closed for a long time) Nothing bad to say about them. Good food, good drinks. Good comedians regularly. I've had them call once or twice when I won some "contest" for comedians I had never heard of, but I suspect whatever comedian they had just couldn't sell for that night. I prefer them over Stand-up Scottsdale. Seems like they're run by the same people as Stand Up Live, who also do a great job. read more

The show was fun. The layout is great. The drinks tasted alright. But the service was dreadful. Our server had an attitude problem. He showed how busy he was. He acted like he didn't care. He only came over twice to get the two drink minimum. He didn't check on us. Initially we were going to get up to go to the bar to get drinks because no one was helping us. he saw us and stopped us and said "it won't count toward your two drink minimum". It's date night and my hubby got tickets to Titus! Okay sounds fun I've never been to the Tempe Improv first time. Sad to say this but prob my last as well. It started off by waiting in a very long long which I do not mind at all. Until all the trash from the previous show starts pouring out right by the line the employees start dragging out can after can! Until there was at least 8 garbage cans fully loaded! The smell was horrific! Do they not care about their patrons?! We sat VIP was was eh. Ordered the Titus nachos! Not sure which was worse those or the garbage smell! Drove down for the weekend for a Coyotes afternoon game and Dave Attell in the evening. Venue is in a shopping center so plenty of free parking. Got in pretty close to show time and sat in the row lining the back wall behind all the long tables. Glad I wasn't seated at the tables with my back towards the stage. Who set this place up like that? Chairs around the perimeter are too close to each other as well. No elbow room at all. I was driving so no alcohol. Server said they have bottomless soda if I wasn't drinking alcohol. Check is delivered towards the end of the show. $15?! And the guy didn't even refill my carafe once. I seriously thought about just leaving two bucks and bailing. What a rip off. Comedians were great though. Enjoyed all 3 guys that did a set. read more

Tempe improv was not what we expected, but better than we expected! When we got there we were seated at a small table with another couple whom we didn't know. A little awkward but making friends isn't a bad thing. Atmosphere was really cool - awesome uplighting and not a bad seat in the house! Can't really review the show itself, since they are different every night but the one we saw was pretty funny! Prices were a bit high, and they are strict about the 2 drink minimum, so come prepared. Mixed drinks were pretty good! Service was pretty crummy, but in all fairness she seemed new and they were at capacity. Other tables didn't seem to have a problem. read more

Took my lova' on a date here and we had such a good time ! I was impressed and the whole experience was way different from what i anticipated. I Bought our tickets online. We got there early and were able to wait in a lounge they have open before the main show. There is a drink minimum, so if you are looking for a cheap date night then i suggest you look elsewhere. We loved the atmosphere, had good seats, service was great also for the place being packed. You can order food as well, (fruit and cheese platter was awesome!) So glad we came here and I will from now on be checking frequently to see who is performing. We enjoyed ourselves. I like the feeling of walking upstairs to get to the venue--made me feel like we were in New York or something. The temperature was extremely cold--I think they thought it was still summer. Bring layers. Service was good but the night was relatively slow because it was s Sunday. I'm not complaining, but you know it's a slower night when the waiter/waitress at a cocktail establishment is asking if you want a refill on waters. My wife and I went to see Bob Marley, and it was "Wicked Awesome " the food, service, and drinks were "Wicked Awesome". My problem was with the MENS restroom!! Saw tony rock last nite. 2 comedians prior were awesome! Rock killed it! The improvements to the improv really show. It is not sardine packed anymore. Food really good. We had chicken nachos and chicken tenders for the three of us. Plenty enough food! Fair price, too! Cocktails yummy and different. I would go back soon. Love it here. Staff couldn't be kinder. Taking a selfie a staff member offered to take it for me without my asking. Order the wings trip platter, didn't really care for it but didn't say anything. When the waitress saw I wasn't eating. She inquired and then offered for me to get anything else for free. The chicken quesadilla is amazing by the way! I have been here many times and have typically enjoyed myself. The food is great and the service is pretty good. However, this past weekend I saw the show on 5/3 and everyone was forced to put their cellphone and smart watches in sealed bags that could only be opened in the lobby with a special device. This is unacceptable. I get that they don't want any recording of the show, but this is no different than most other events, where it is just handled by the staff in the event of a rule breaker. I get that they want people to be watching the show and not bothered by the use of these devices, but forcing that on everyone is going to far. Hopefully this policy is rescinded so I can come back and enjoy this place again. read more

Absolutely without a doubt a wonderful experience. Not just the performance but the staff as well! We went December 29th to see Gabriel Iglesias aka Fluffy. It was such a good show. He went on for over 2 hours and it was nonstop laughter. We decided to go all out and get the dinner package which was a great idea. The package covers unlimited sodas and juices as well as an appetizer, two entrees and a dessert. The portions were a great size and the food was absolutely delicious. Jean was our server and she was a complete sweetheart to say the least. I must tell you that this girl was also very pregnant but she was hustling getting everyone's drinks and being super efficient. We definitely gave her an extra tip because she was so fast and amazing. I would most definitely recommend this place to see another performance. read more

I went here with a friend and let me say I had a BLAST. First of all, seats are everything and I got really lucky on the seats we received. The drinks were delicious and the food was AMAZING. It was so great I really wanted seconds but was too stuffed for anything else. Not a single person stepped on the stage who wasn't completely hilarious and the staff was completely friendly. Even the music playing while we waited for the comedians to come out was good and I ended up downloading everything they played on the speakers. Went to see Dave Rubin last week. I had been to the Improv in Irvine, but wasn't sure what to expect here. I was pleasantly surprised! We got seated in the back, so we got to face forward the whole time (those at tables have to twist to see). The service was great. The food was great (beer cheese ). Prices were reasonable. Only down side is I didnt see too many upcoming shows/people I'd want to see, but if you do I'd definitely recommend it! read more

Food is decent, service is friendly but slow, our table and several either side of ours are infested with ants (181-186), told the server (she said "oh weird", manager offered to move us to worse seats..., and did send someone to wipe down the tables), and dirty glass from the bar. This place sucks. Terrible venue. Seating is ridiculous. You have to sit across from your date, so if not in the middle, one of you will have to turn your chair away from the table. Awkward, as you don't even feel like you're on a date anymore, other than with the stranger next to you that you're basically straddling. And that's not the worst part. $4 a ticket in fees. Two drink minumum per person at $6 a drink! Criminals. Fleeced me $24 for 4 sodas we didn't even want. Won't be coming back. read more

Prices were pretty high, for three people it was $86.(ticket fees and "handling") Concerts on the ASU Sundeck at the football stadium are cheaper and the drinks are cheaper too. Came with a corporate group, facility was open for us. We were about 25 people. Food was ok (7 out of 10). Wasn't expecting much at a comedy club, expectations were meet. Service was absolutely awful. Literally zero attention to detail. For dessert, they set sharing plates at our tables during the comedy performances. They never brought silverware for us to actually eat the dessert with. So literally there's piles of cheesecake on the plates in front of us and none of it is getting eaten and the servers don't even notice for the hour and a half that the cheesecake was sitting in front of us that it's not being eaten. No sauce was served for the proteins that they had set out for dinner until I asked for it. The comedy was a 4 out of 10. Each of the comedians had funny moments but they were far and few between. The consensus after the show was that we all would have preferred to just go back to our hotel right after we finished eating. read more

The service was phenomenal inside the comedy club. Not only with our waiter, but being moved to VIP as well. We ordered fried shrimp and fries, and we got buffalo wings instead. They ended up comping the wing order, but all of it was delicious and very nice of them! We drank Long Island iced teas inside, my favorite! However, they are cheaper inside than if you are waiting at the bar before the show. One drink cost $17.30 - almost as much as two drinks in NYC! Hands down the best experience my boyfriend and I had at the Improv Club. From Chicago to Arizona it never disappoints but last night they went above and beyond. Our waiter Scott was not only ridiculously friendly but incredibly tentative to anything we needed, he and Danny went out of their way to accommodate us. So impressed ! We don't normally get any food but this time we had the Spinach and Artichoke Dip which was pure deliciousness with all its bacon glory. For a second appetizer we had the Copper Blues Quesadillas and I now have a new favorite quesadilla place! Lastly we finished it off with the Korean chicken fried rice. It had a little bite to it and the flavors were so much more than you'd expect from a comedy club. It's couldn't have gotten any better, our favorite comedian, amazing food and drinks and a terrific staff. Can't wait to go back ! read more
