My husband and I order from here at least twice a month. The sandwiches are SO good. The Dante: this is my husband's personal favorite. The breast is perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The variety of meats are so good. The hot giardiniera adds the perfect spice and oil but isn't so oily that the sandwich is dripping from the oil of it. The B. Franklin: my personal favorite. the turkey and cheese are so freaking tummy. my goodness. I don't really love deli turkey but the turkey here is just perfection. the sourdough bread that is used holds all the ingredients well that it doesn't get soggy. I wandered into this tiny little spot not really knowing what to expect, but I'm glad I did. What looked like a simple sandwich shop turned out to be a hidden gem with bold flavors and a surprising variety of choices. My taste buds were definitely not bored. The menu is a lot to take in. There's so much packed into a short list of sandwiches and lunch items that I actually wished they had an online menu to look through ahead of time. It would've made choosing a bit easier, especially since everything looked so tempting. I didn't check if they're open for dinner, and I think they might be closed on one weekday, so it's probably a good idea to call ahead. As for the food, it's genuinely delicious. It is a bit on the pricey side for lunch, but when you're in the mood to treat yourself, it's totally worth it. I'll definitely go back when I have a little extra to spend. If you're planning to visit, try going during off-hours since it can get pretty busy. And if you're short on time, calling in your order is an easy option too. TL; DR: Sandwich is good, but would love to see more meat on it for the price I came in on a Sunday and ordered a Dante and B Franklin with bacon. Between these two, I liked the B Franklin the best. It was sweet and crunchy, but I think both of these sandwiches should have had a little bit more meat on them since they were over $17. As a side, you get the choice of chips or fruit. Stopped into Tempesta for lunch today, and it definitely hit the spot. Right off the bat, the guy working the counter was awesome, super friendly and in a great mood, which was impressive for a Sunday afternoon, especially the day after St. Patrick's Day. The welcoming vibe definitely set the tone for a good quick meal. We ordered to eat in, and there was plenty of seating inside, plus they even offer some beers if you're dining in, which is a nice touch. The sandwiches were on the pricier side, and while they weren't huge, that's understandable for a smaller deli. I went with the Hey Dante, their take on a classic Italian, which came on French bread, while my friend got the Franklin B., a turkey, avocado, and bacon sandwich with great sauces on classic square bread. We split them in half to try both, and both were really solid I think I liked the Hey Dante just a little more but I'm biased to Italian style sandwiches. My only gripe is that the portion sizes were a bit small for the price, so if you're looking for a heavier lunch, you might need to order extra. But for a lighter meal, it's perfect. This place has been on my go to list for the longest time and I finally had time to visit their location in West Town. I got the #1 The Dante and their special of the month which was a super juicy burger! My partner and I shared the two sandwiches and agreed that this place is really good! I love myself a good Italian sandwich every now and then, holy cow this place nailed it for me! The bread was a bit hard to bite into, but other than that everything was perfect! I love the meat and the spices that put this sandwich together! The burger was probably the spotlight because it exceeded expectations. The smelled of the burger was so good when I opened it up to take pictures. After I cut it in half, I just wanted to devour the whole entire thing. What happened to this place? I've been a frequent customer of Tempesta since they opened. Week one. Shouted their praise from every rooftop and loved seeing them get the accolades they truly deserved. But that was then, the following review reflects now: In 2020 the price of a Dante was $15. In 2023 it was $16.50. Fair price for a delicious, abundantly packed sub. Happy to pay it. Today (Oct. '25), the price is $21.50 for, what I can only describe as, pittance in comparison. The meat ratio is 1/3 of what it used to be, and I'm being generous. Not to mention one, single, paper thin slice, of cheese? Why even bother? Listen, either keep the price reasonable and cut the portions, or raise the price and serve something that's actually worthy of it. The cost to value is nonexistent. Tempesta is arguably one of the best sandwich shops in the city. They make a lot of their meats in house and use high quality ingredients so you know you're getting the good stuff. Not only can you get a great sandwich, you can purchase most of their meats to go as well as other small artisanal grocery items. I have tried almost every sandwich they have on the menu but my top two choices would be the #1 The Dante and the #2 Yo! Vincenzo! The Dante is their version of a classic Italian sandwich but a bit on the spicier side. The Yo Vincenzo is a chicken parm and I personally think it's the best chicken parm sandwich in the city. The chicken is perfectly crispy, and they use just the right amount of sauce where it doesn't get soggy. Both of these sandwiches come on their fresh baguette which helps set them apart from other sandwich spots in Chicago just because of how good it is. The B Franklin is also a great option, and if you're starving get the Wagyu Pastrami but be warned it is a very heavy sandwich because of that Wagyu. The last pro tip I'll add in here is order your sandwich ahead of time if you're doing takeout. This is a very popular spot and is always busy during the lunch rush so if you wait to order until you arrive you may need to wait for 10-15 minutes. That should speak to how good this place is because it's in such high demand, so if you're in Chicago make sure you stop in! read more

Haven't stepped foot in Chicago for too long, but I am (from afar) enjoying the last section of a two pound specimen of mortadella made by this establishment from heritage pork breeds. It was ordered and shipped through a third party so I can't speak to the ambience but I can speak to quality. As a former child who hated bologna and no WAY was I trying olive loaf, I have come a long way and this mortadella is peak. Best in the world, I don't know, but I'll put money on best in the states and globally it would be a contender. It's summer, I'm in S Ctl Texas, it is too damn hot to do anything let alone cook. I first enjoyed this cold in sandwiches or in little slices alongside plates of hard boiled eggs and mayo/mustard. Sometimes just little sneaky snacky slices as the universe and refrigerator manufacturers intended. Then I fried a bit. People recommended this casually but I am telling you it is utter Damascus time when you go from cold to hot with this piece of art. I was worried how I could manage that since I got a whole log and didn't have a deli slicer, which now feels fairly stupid. Slice whatever portions you need or like, it doesn't matter. I'm enjoying it fried up and then put in a little toasty sandwich maker with whatever ingredient whims take me that day. It plays very nicely alongside cheese or pickles. I got it on sale. It is absolutely worth paying full price. I would happily walk into this establishment and try anything, the quality is so nice just from this one (albeit ongoing and two pound) experience. Who doesn't love a good sandwich? Dropped in on a Sunday early afternoon with a girlfriend to try The B. Franklin sandwich. Was it worth the price? The trip? Mmmmmmmmh, I don't know. In my humble opinion, I don't believe that sandwich should cost $18.98 after taxes for a sandwich and chips. So let's get into why. Things I appreciated: I liked fresh cut, natural turkey meat being cut to go on my sandwich unlike the process at your local Subway. I thought toasting the bread was a nice touch. Adding on your choice of a fruit or bag of chips is cool. Where it could've been better: The bread was incredibly too hard. If you have dentures or veneers, be mindful of the edges of your bread. You might loose em. The cutting of the meat was all to one side of the sandwich. I felt I had to take it apart and put it back together. The hot peppers.. fire. And I mean it. Spicy and vingeray at the same time! But they skimped out on ensuring it was throughout the entire sandwich. The avocado was much in abundance but bland asl. I also didn't think adding those micro greens was needed. Felt random and thrown in. I'm inclined to return to try a soup and/ or dessert. But if I didn't, I wouldn't care too much about it. Lotta online hype about this place. The funny thing is I live so near u here and never noticed it before. I for here and lunch time on Saturday and it was like... Packed. I guess they were overwhelmed. The guy at the counter was grata when I ordered, but after that... Nobody called out my name. I was probably waiting for 20 mins. The sandwich was just sitting there behind the counter. Really annoying. The sandwich was actually decent. Like... Beets and all. It was good, thought by the time I ate it it had probably been made for 20 mins and then a other 5 for me to get home. The bread was a bit soggy, but overall it was still an enjoyable sandwich. It came with chips. The I was starving and ordered a broccoli cheese soup. It was decent. It had some unique taste to it. Overall ok. I think I'll have to come back here when it's not this crazy. I've gone here a few times to have their chicken and dumpling soup plus their meatballs (Sympathy for the meatballs) a la carte. Both are amazing! Their Galvanina sodas are refreshing too. For large scale events, they offer catering if you're planning a party or hosting a work luncheon. I have yet to try their tasty looking sandwiches and can't wait to go back! My only complaint here is the parking situation. It's street parking only. Depending on the time of day you could get lucky to find a spot within seconds otherwise you may find yourself circling the neighborhood a few times. read more

Really, really great sandwiches. The ingredients are high quality and bread sourced from some of the best bakeries in Chicago. The prices are high, but you get what you pay for. This is also more of a take-out operation, as the shop is small and quiet. My only wishlist item is that they were open longer. Unfortunately, many of us Tempesta fans can't make it out to West Town before 6pm on a weekday, and ordering through Doordash will yield a ~$30 sandwich. Really looking forward to trying more of the menu when the opportunity arises! read more

Loved the vibe of this shop. Not the biggest, but plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Decided to split two sandwiches: one hot and one cold. Starting with the Yo Vincenzo, I was so disappointed. Chicken parms are some of my favorite sandwiches, but this missed. The chicken was finely breaded and the mozzarella was melted on top, but there wasn't much flavor in the chicken. The biggest issue with this was the baguette which must have been baked and sitting out for a week. It was terrible and ruined the entire sandwich. The other sandwich was the B Franklin. This unlike the "Yo Vincenzo" was a hit. The sourdough was great and had a nice aioli spread on it. Good amount of turkey, really tasty cheese, creamy avocado, and nice amount of acidity from the pickled fresnos and red onions (wish they gave more). I thought all the components worked very well together. I wish sandwiches didn't cost this much in general but with a few more interesting options like the meatball, I'll be back. read more

I have been going to Tempesta for years now. It used for be an amazing consistent deli with great service and quality food. I went on Sunday to get the hot chicken weekend special sandwich. I arrived at 1:45 pm and learned it was already sold out, big bummer as I made the trip on a cold Chicago day for that. I try to order the Southside Johnny my favorite sandwich, also sold out. The potatonator and B Franklin were also sold out before 2pm. So about half the sandwiches, all completely different meats and styles are sold out. I get the Vincenzo because its cold and I haven't tried it in years. We order 1 sandwich and a soup. The place is very busy with takeout drivers constantly coming in and out for takeout orders. To the point where the staff doesn't really focus on the orders in store or speak to the customers much, just kind of a takeout factory. Very different than the experience used to be coming here, the staff was friendly, knowledgeable and ensured you had a good experience. I watched 20+ orders leave the door in the half hour I waited for one sandwich. I asked several times after a 20 minute wait, the worker said it would be a few more minutes. Finally the sandwich comes out. The Vincenzo was overcooked very dry, nearly sauceless, and for a chicken parm it had almost no parm, basil, or mozzarella cheese. Just a super disappointing experience, have had a few major quality issues with orders over the last year. Hoping for better experiences in the future, but the quality control and experience need to be improved. read more

Franklin and Qx2 salad and was throughly impressed with the freshness of the ingredients and the unique and tasty mix of the turkey spread on the sandwich perfectly toasted on sourdough.
