A Google search shows that the furniture mart is by far the largest selection of retailers under one roof and it is impressive. The greeter at the entry was very helpful and narrowed down the stores that may have our specific dining table design. A general walk-through can be very overwhelming. The mart has a broad range of styles, designs and quality so it's helpful to have at least a basic understanding about manufacturers and quality. We wish we'd known about the mart several years ago after relocating and furnishing our new home.

We saw one chair we liked. It would fit our needs, was the acceptable color, material and size...a la my wife's seeking standards. Did we buy it? Of course not. Hickory is loaded with furniture outlets, so off we went a exploring. A couple of more locations and them the big kaboom: the Hickory Furniture Mart. Another review coming on this enormous, four level block-filling edifice containing just about any manufacturer and style of furniture one could imagine. We did not find anything that was better than the one at The Hickory Tree, so after some coffee and lunch at the Olde Hickory Station (see that review), we returned to the Hickory Tree. Since this was a consignment store, all items had a sales price tag with the prices listed over time. What I mean is that a price of $175 was scheduled to cost $150 on the first of the next month, then it would cost $135 the next month, and so on. This being the middle of the month, and not wanting to risk the desire chair being sold while we waited, we bought it...right then. They accepted credit cards. With the help of a young man we loaded this chair into our SUV and were off for home. An excellent, but exhausting furniture shopping experience that I survived. Before you blow your mind out looking for furniture all over, start here at the Hickory Tree. Prices reasonable and mark-downs abound. And nice people.

We ordered a sofa and love seat over Easter weekend 2016. Prices were 25% off that weekend and saw…read morethis as a reasonable deal. The pieces were manufactured by Fusion Furniture in Mississippi. Estimated time to arrival at Heritage's warehouse was 6-8 weeks and another 10 days for it to be shipped on to Maryland. This worked well for us as we had an event at our home for 3 June. These estimates were totally invalid. I contacted our salesperson Amy on 27 April and was informed everything was on track and should ship from MS 10 May and arrive to us ~ 2 weeks later. As of 10 May we were informed there was a delay and the furniture was to arrive at Heritage's warehouse 16 May...that didn't happen either. The furniture didn't arrive at Heritage till 1 June. All contact was initiated by phone or email from me. That was the only way to get answers. Follow up was always when I contacted them. I can't even reach a manager since she's (Regina) on vacation till 13 June. Amy is very poor at follow up. She even forgets which days she has off (since I call and she's off that day). Now we are told that the Home Delivery Service is allowed 2-3 weeks to deliver our furniture (which they picked up 8 June). So furniture ordered 26 March could finally arrive as late as 29 June...three (3) months after ordering and a full month after the original "worst case" delivery time-frame. While prices are reasonable, you cannot depend on accurate delivery dates or at least one salesperson following up with you. Never again...and since I'm originally from Hickory and many of my family worked in the furniture industry for most of their lives, I am embarrassed that the Hickory Furniture Mart has such companies within their walls.
