Very difficult to work with I would not recommend them to anyone. I got a prescription about a year ago asked to have at least one or two refills. They would not allow it. I have been here 3 times now and although I enjoy the convenience of this place, you have to remember this is a teaching facility so you only get med students who don't know jack diddly squat and/or residents who will always have to double check everything with their attending. That being said, everything else is pretty disorganized. I witnessed someone's confidential information get switched with another patient's, so the office was in a disarray trying to sort that mess out. Also be prepared to wait an hour before they see you for your appointment. Money hungry people always also make you come three times for something that can be done in one visit so they can charge for 3 visits. US medical practice for you! read more

Solid experience with my first visit to Drexel Family Medicine. Visited after landing on my elbow badly. They got me in within 10 minutes of my appointment. A nurse took my vitals then a medical student quickly followed with a few questions. The resident checked me out, taking her time rather than rushing from patient to patient. She called the attending for a second opinion. Once they figured bone break, they set me up with a splint and sling in the office and told me my opinions for x-rays. Follow up was also solid. I got a call with the results of the x-ray same day and they even stayed a few minutes late so I could pick up the x-ray disc to ensure my ortho consult to have it. I'm not one to see a doctor often, but this experience showed me that not all the horror stories you hear are true... read more

A friend of mine highly recommended Dr. Alicia Tucker. She sounds like a great doctor, but I haven't been able to see her because of the incredible incompetence of the office staff. The first time I scheduled an appointment (a month away because of her full schedule), I received a confirmation text the day before and noticed that a different doctor was mentioned in the confirmation. I called the office and was informed that Dr. Tucker's schedule had changed so they had switched me to a different doctor. I politely explained that I had specifically scheduled an appointment with Dr. Tucker and that the office staff should have called me to give me that update and ask if I'd like to see a different doctor or reschedule my appointment. At that point I requested another appointment that was another 3 weeks away. On that day, I arrived at the address in my confirmation text but couldn't find any signage with the office name. I called several times but received a message that the office was closed although it clearly wasn't since it was the time of my appointment. I walked around for 10 minutes then noticed a sign stating that the office was opposite their listed address and was actually in Jamestown St. Neither of the streets that are perpendicular to Shurs Lane are Jamestown so I tried calling several more times only to get the same message. I walked around for 10 more minutes and finally found the street (it runs parallel to Shurs lane). I explained what had happened to the office staff and was flippantly told that the phone service doesn't switch over until 8:30 (this is a problem that should be remedied ASAP). I informed her that as a new patient, I should have been informed when I made my appointment that the office isn't actually located where their listed address is and given specific instructions for how to find the office. She agreed but told me that I wouldn't be able to see the doctor. I could see a resident or wait another 3.5 weeks for another appointment. 10 weeks is far too long for me to wait. I'll be finding another doctor. My partner also scheduled an appointment with Dr. Tucker and was switched to a different doctor without notice and also could not find the office (luckily their phones were on that day). There needs to be an immediate review of policies & procedures related to rescheduling & patient intake; staff should be given soft skills classes; and the phone service needs to be updated with actual opening times. I hope positive changes are implemented very soon because there are far too many negative reviews of this practice. read more

The doctors there are too young and inexperienced to realize they have a horrible bedside manner. I went there for a Back injury and they asked let's check your diabetes and after she did I got a phone call stating that I signed up for counseling for a diabetes. That never happened I would never sign up for diabetic counseling but this is the same place that after I told them I was a runner, track coach and personal trainer recommended I get Diabetic sneakers. What am I going to do diabetic shoes? I have been Going to this place since 1995 and it's gotten worse every year. read more

These doctors are pathetic. Took my granddaughter who was suffering from a terrible cough. So bad she was spitting up blood and all they did was give her cough medicine. It wasn't even strong cough medicine. I know bronchitis when I see it and she has all the symptoms. Now she's worse and I don't want her to go back to them. This is a follow up. So today my granddaughter went to the ER and she has pneumonia. I'm suing these people! They are total quacks! read more

I have been a patient with Drexel for 10 years but have finally reached my limit with the incompetence, doctors and staff alike. No reason to go into detail...I suggest anyone considering this practice, including Center City, stay very, very far away. BTW, I have seen your office respond to bad emails like this on other sites with a request that the reviewer fill out a customer satisfaction survey...are you kidding?? I think you might be a little late to float that suggestion out there to someone so disgruntled that they went to the effort to write a bad review (my 3rd in 61 years)! This is an incredibly clear indication, one of many, that you need someone competent to run your offices. Frankly, if you weren't supported by the deep pockets of Drexel University, you'd be out of business. read more

I went in today for a sick visit. I called while at work and they were able to fit me in right after work, which was great. When I got there they took me back to the room pretty quickly, but I was sitting in the room for quite some time and for someone who is sick it was extremely difficult. When the doctor finally came into the room she asked a few questions, one being "have you been around anyone with any illness recently?" To which I replied "I'm a teacher." Many of my students have been out sick with the flu and other illnesses. When they took my temperature, it read 99.4, but they failed to ask if I had recently taken any medication to control my fever, which I had. After the exam they told me "it was probably just a virus" because my sore throat didn't have white spots so it couldn't be strep. I have had strep without presenting any white spots on my throat before. When I got home I took my temperature and it was at 102 and would not go down with medication! You can be sure I'll be calling back tomorrow for a second opinion as I do not believe that whatever I have is "just a virus". read more

The people here are entirely unprofessional. I came here 3 years ago, they messed up billing my insurance and tried to bill me for the entire visit. Strangely, the same thing happened to my friend who came here. I'm not sure if this is some sort of scam, or if they are that confused. I decided to come back recently because of the convenient location. It was a huge waste of time. I had to tell 3 different people what I was here for, what medicine I was on, and if I had any allergies. This was AFTER filling out a form with all of the information written on it. Twice I was told "Let me check with my boss" - then after a long wait, the "boss" would come in and I'd have to go through everything, AGAIN! Do not come here! read more

I'm rating it this low entirely because their administrative staff might be the worst I've ever experienced across any type of business. If you try to schedule an appointment you may have to try calling around 5 times and will definitely end up on hold for long periods of time. Even when I had an emergency I was put on hold for 15 minutes. Meanwhile I just drove to the office with a bone deep cut on my hand and walked in to find the people at the desk just chatting with each other while I was still on hold! Only giving one star because I have to. First time I came here I was given the wrong diagnosis. Now, I called ahead to make sure the service I was requesting could be done before coming in to avoid wasting my money on a co-pay. I was given the wrong information and came to an appointment where the service I called about was not done. I sat in the room for 5-10 minutes tops and was told the doctors time was the reason my appointment would not be cancelled. Two times of terrible service and treatment is all I need to find a new doctor. Do not come here if you can help it!!! The only positive was my CMA, she was a sweetheart! Do yourself a favor and do NOT come here. Showed up for a physical, was asked 4 questions by a doctor while getting blood pressure taken. He then left the room for 20 minutes and came back, telling me I'm healthy and can leave. I questioned why no blood or urine work was done and he replied "oh we only do that if something is wrong". Thought it was odd, but left. Called back a week later to complain and they said that I needed to still schedule a physical. Finally got back in and got an ACTUAL physical. A few weeks later, I get a bill for my first visit. The visit that the negligent inexperienced doctor should've performed the routine physical exam I am now getting charged for. The billing department was just as useless as the doctors themselves. They gave little to no effort in resolving this issue and felt like at times I was talking to a revolving door. I was looking forward to the convenience of this location as it's a few blocks walking distance from my house but I will NEVER on my mothers dead body return here, let alone give them any of my money. read more

Okay, I know this is cliché' to say but I literally never do reviews. Save yourself the headache and time wasted, Please do not come here. I went only because its so close to me and I had a simple check up, they clean my ears, and I asked them about birth control. I have insurance. Well I got a bill in the mail so I called them immediately to ask what this was about, they told me at first that I had to pay it, then said the bill was a mistake and that they would fix it. I said ok. Still received letters in the mail until I got one that said "FINAL NOTICE" which scared me a little so I called them again. They insisted that I had to pay it so I called the pay-my-bill number AND went to the website and guess what?? Both said I had a $0.00 balance! So im thoroughly confused, and they still haven't given me an answer on what I need to do. So please, just don't bother coming here. I've never dealt with this kind of unprofessionalism before. read more

I am new to the area and hunted yelp to find a good doctors office. I was not disappointed with the office or Dr. Thomassin. She is very personable helpful and understanding. She shows genuine concern and makes helpful recommendations. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone especially females in search of a female doctor. My only issue was finding the office. The address says the office is on shurs lane but the entrance is on the next street over on Jamestown. read more

This place is the worst. I went today for a follow up of suspected Lyme Disease. After my initial visit about 10 days ago, I developed a bulls eye rash (at site where I removed a tick one week earlier) and every other classic symptom of Stage 1 Lyme Disease, which landed me in the ER with a fever of 101 degrees a week ago. I explained all of this first to the nurse, then to the medical student, equipped with daily photos of the rash and ER records. When the doctor finally came in I had to explain it a third time and despite advising me that early blood tests for Lyme tend to be inaccurate, ignored my history and supporting evidence and advised that I finish my 14th day of antibiotics as the conclusion of my treatment. I pressed her and said that I would prefer to do the full 28 day course that is recommended for Lyme based on how sick I became and the clear bulls eye rash. She then immediately recanted and agreed with me that perhaps I did have Lyme. She apparently, was basing her recommendation on the inaccurate blood test despite my text book symptoms. She then (finally) viewed my photos and agreed that the rash was in fact a classic bulls eye rash. I'm so glad I missed my whole morning of work to see a doctor who knew less about Lyme Disease than me and made me waste the morning explaining it three different times to a clearly incompetent staff. I feel sorry for people who go here who don't do their own research. If not for my own assertiveness, I would have walked out of there today with half a course of treatment for a disease that, if not treated properly leads to a lifetime of chronic neurological problems. Great practices start with the front desk and they are wonderful . Nice, helpful and guess what..they follow-thru on your requests. My daughter saw Dr. Cabry--he is excellent. He spends time with you and unlike the CHOP ortho physician, he spoke directly to my daughter--asked her questions and treated her with the utmost respect. read more

I wen to see Dr. Yeh and she was great I was having a problem with my leg and she asked me great questions and then followed up with me on the phone. She stayed on the phone with me for a while. It felt like she really cared about my issues. Also the front desk was very friendly! No one enjoys going to the doctors but its nice to see friendly faces when you do. read more

I went to Drexel Family with a sore throat, congestion in my chest and nose, ear ache, cough, fever, etc. The resident Dr. came in and checked me out saying I looked fine, which was strange since clearly I was not. She said she thought I had Mono and did a blood test. (Which the woman who administered it ended up arguing with another Dr. in front of me and forgot to take the needle out until I reminded her I was there. I ended up with a huge bruise) She then sent me home and told me to take advil for my fever and that she'd call me with results. Three days later, no phone call, so I called and finally got the Dr. on the phone and she said she didn't call because she didn't have my results. Then two minutes later she goes, "oh now I have your results" which was obviously a lie. She then said i didn't have Mono or Strep, so I was fine. I told her I was feeling worse and she said there was nothing she could do. Two days later I woke up with pink eye and was even more sick than I was before. I called and she said it was just a virus and they don't give eye drops for pink eye or viruses. I ended up in urgent care the next day and was diagnosed with a severe sinus infection, ear infection, bronchitis, and pink eye in both eyes. I was given antibiotics for treatment. The Dr. at Drexel had a complete disregard for my illness. It seemed that she was convinced I had Mono and when the test came back negative, she was annoyed that she was wrong and wanted nothing to do with figuring out what was actually the problem. I WILL NEVER GO BACK HERE AGAIN!! read more

Terrible service. Given a 6pm appointment, the doctor rushed in, didn't listen to a word I said, barely did an exam, and rushed out the door. Grabbed her purse and ran out while I was walking out of the exam room. Did not order the specific tests that I needed for my confirmed genetic disorder, which I wrote down and tried to impress upon her multiple times. I even brought the established medical professional guidelines for screening for this disorder, and she did not care to listen. Office staff neglected to follow through with obtaining approval for the imaging studies, never called me back when they claimed that they would, and were grossly neglectful of my care. I cannot express loudly enough how severely disappointed I am in the LACK of care and professionalism that I DID NOT receive from this office. Please, if you have any legitimate health concerns or diagnoses, go elsewhere or risk getting brushed aside. read more

I am a new patient and saw Dr. Thomassin in Manayunk in November 2011. She is amazing!! Very friendly, personable, and most importantly to me--I didn't feel rushed. She took her time to not only examine me, but talk to me, get to know me, and really ask if there was anything I wanted to discuss. I didn't feel judged at all. I loved the doctor I was seeing at this practice--Dr. Maulitz is great--but I ended up leaving the practice because of the staff and how the practice is run. I felt like my time was not valued at all. Waited 1 hour to see the doctor the first time I went. Two hours (!!) the second time. When I showed up for my last visit, I was called up to the desk and the receptionist asked if I hadn't "received a letter" telling me that the doctor wasn't in that day. Whaaat? This practice has mutliple physicians (10 are listed in IBX) in addition to residents who also see patients at this practice, so I do not know why I can't get any appointment there. These people are terrible. The front desk staff are rude. They have a broken automated system and once you actually get through, they put you on hold for long periods of time. They are abusive to patients and they hardly have any full time physicians. It's mostly residents so it may be very difficult to keep the same doctor for a long period of time. read more

After several issues getting records, promises to call in referrals and prescriptions and never doing it, conducting the WRONG tests, etc. I finally switched to Ninth Street Internal Medicine, which is GREAT and a much more professional place. read more
