The…read moremoviegoing experience here is so much better, and the upgrades are immediately obvious the moment you walk in. The old theater now feels so new. From the floors and paint to the overall design, it now feels modern, sleek, and genuinely comfortable. The lobby and auditoriums have been totally refreshed, giving the entire space a much more upscale and polished feel compared to what it used to be. One of the biggest improvements is the seating. They now have roomy plush recliners thatt make watching a movie incredibly comfortable. These seats recline a lot, and they are also HEATED which is super nice when it's snowing outside. Assigned seating is another welcome upgrade, and the ticket kiosks in the lobby make purchasing and check-in quick and convenient. The theater also has new digital projectors and improved sound systems that deliver strong visual and audio quality. There are also some self-serve features, including a soda fountain and Icee machine with refillable drinks. The concessions are where things get a bit tough. Prices are ridiculously high, especially considering the portion sizes. A small popcorn ($8) isn't even enough for one person. Parking is still easy and free, and there are plenty of nearby restaurants if you want to grab a meal before or after your movie. Bargain day is Tuesday, so plan to go then and save some money on tickets. It's also when the theater is the most crowded, however. Also take note that not every auditorium is equal. Some theaters have noticeably small screens and a smaller number of seats, and the screen placement continues to be an issue. The screens are mounted way too high, so sitting in the front rows can lead to a strained neck and a less enjoyable viewing angle. Choose your seat carefully. It's hard not to be excited about the renovations that Megaplex Cinemas has brought to town. These are HUGE upgrades that have turned a dated theater into one that's super comfortable, modern, and a convenient place to see a movie.

The venue at the library/high school had plenty of parking, & we followed a couple locals in since they knew where they were going...however signs were also posted. Raffle tickets are still handed out. Bring your own bowl for a popcorn discount is still part of the experience. There is a membership available & Sundance Film Festival preparations were announced. Sounds so fun!! The featured films look really good. We saw; Killers of the Flower Moon and it presented a lot to discuss after! The best kind... after NUMEROUS visits…read more i love this film series. it is a fun and inexpensive ($7 for adults) escape from salt lake city. the perfect pre or post dinner activity in park city - snow or shine. screenings of, primarily, indie films and documentaries take place most every thursday, friday and saturday evenings at the park city municipal library. tickets are sold at the door. save your ticket stub for the prize drawing at the beginning of each movie. you can win anything from coffee mugs and gift certificates (my favorite, but i've never won) to t-shirts and massage oils (i've never won, period). they do have a concession stand and it is quite extensive. feel free to popcorn, or sugar yourself up! overall: A it's local. it's a gathering of great people. good vibes all around.

This white man does Motown proud! He's a "Filet of Soul," baby! All these Saturday concerts are free, with beer on sale to enjoy at the concert. Or, if you want liquor or wine, take five minutes out and sidle up to the bar at The Farm and order what you want. Drink fast, and find your chair on the lawn in front of the stage. There's great sight lines and good acoustics. However, besides the great performers, what makes this concert series fabulous is the crowd. Fun, attractive, outgoing, and friendly as hell, the Park City audience makes SLC seem like a different country. This is not an uptight crowd. People were dancing, imbibing, laughing out loud, and actually dragging strangers out to dance. The exuberance was palatable. I have never seen a crowd of people in SLC as openly free spirited as the folks in Park City. What a cool breeze of mountain air. I have been told on countless occasions that I would be happier living in Park City rather than in Salt Lake City. Now, I must agree. It's going to cost a fortune, and the commute in winter will be treacherous. Life is short however. It's PC or back to the East Coast. Boys just want to have fun!

As far as music festivals go, I'd say Bonanza Campout is about 85% percent "there."…read moreThe venue was really the determining factor for the entire thing--though it appears small on the map, overall there was an acceptable amount of room for the amount of people that attended. There weren't many, and hearing from other people's experiences, it seems that buying a ticket last minute for this was the way to go because the festival seemed to be giving them away as the date came closer: schools, radio stations, other concerts, and certain businesses had either free tickets or generous discounts. On the first day after opening, the population of the whole place was probably about 90. Over the weekend, more people seemed to show up despite bad weather. There were not many places to escape the rain on the second day, and being told that we could not return to our cars after 6 pm did not really help. The tables used for the RV spots were moved into the middle of the park so there were some places to sit, and water was very easily accessible...even though the website states that everyone is allowed "water up to 20 oz if it's factory sealed or in a reusable bottle" they wanted any outside liquids thrown away. There was a surprisingly great selection of food, from trucks to stands, and the prices were decent. Portapotties were definitely available. I don't know if I would call this a very family-friendly environment, with such a small area, all of the smoking and drinking kind of converges at once. Parking was horrible if you didn't arrive early. By the end of the night, there were cars literally parked a mile from the site. It is a two lane road and the only parking is on the very weedy side--and due to the lack of space, they were telling people to double park. They were charging $5 for parking, but I would definitely argue that once the cars are extending past the RV park property, the can no longer ask for a fee...it's not their property to charge for. Music, Art, Camping: The price overall was justified by some key (and quite impressive) performances. Other than Cold War Kids, Jamie N Commons, Secret Weapons, Doe, Milo Greene, and Jr. Jr. seemed to really give a good balance to some of the more electronically-based bands. On that note, the festival had numerous music quality issues: the audio was at least partially lost on quite a few performances, and on the second day the music was cranked up so loudly it become almost unbearable. This was especially annoying as the close proximity of the Shade Stage and the Bonanza Stage become a lot more obvious with all of the sound bleed. For the most part, the organizers were great at staying on schedule so there wasn't a whole lot of music-less time. This festival was not really art-centric at all--the main art attractions were a few (very impressive) vendors, a tree full of umbrellas (?), and an art piece sponsored by Skullcandy. This was slightly disappointing, because the entire area has a lot of potential as far as space and involvement with festival goers. We did not elect to do the camping, and I'm glad we didn't--a lot of the claims the festival made as far as amenities ("bathrooms" = portapotties, despite actual bathrooms in the main building... "fenced in area for campers only" = listing to a crazy amount of people and cars try to exit in the night because they are parked right next to you...) were stretches, and if you really wanted to camp, you could do it down the road, without paying a thing. The last 15% this festival is missing might include a better parking situation, more space, increased vendors, better sound quality, more art, and, likely, better hype. The lack of people was blaringly obvious, but overall, everybody in my group had a good time. And most importantly, despite all of the issues, Bonanza did pretty well by compensating with an impressively large variety of music.

Could this be real? Can they really close off all of Main Street, and fill up block after block…read morewith long dining tables, and fill each table with friends and strangers? It seems like a huge task, but I promise it's real. With the quaint buildings of Park City Main standing guard over the narrow strip of asphalt, table after table is set up with immaculate attention to details and sometimes over-the-top decor for this once-a-year dining event. Even some catering companies get in on the action, and you have to see it to believe it. It's packed with very beautiful table settings and a veritable who's who in PC and SLC. The air is warm, the sun is setting, and the drinks and fancy food flows. Here's the low down: you need to book way in advance, as it always sells out. You can go to the main website, but look for a list of participating restaurants and caterers, as you'll have to select one and book with them directly. I was invited along as a guest, but I've watched this each year and seen that ticket prices now range from the mid $100s per plate, up to $250+ per plate, so it's not for the faint of heart. But you have to do it, at least once. It seems like it's almost competitive--each restaurant seems to try to outdo the others with live flowers, fancy table settings, and of course incredible food. My best advice is to think of it as a dining experience, rather than a meal. Baked into the architecture of putting on such an event, you're going to have trouble serving up a bunch of meals to people sitting outside; it's really tough kitchen choreography. However, you should expect to have great food. I absolutely adore Park City Main Street, and to see it dressed up like this is wonderful. I would love to come back in the right company for more Park City Main adventures. In fact, I'm headed up again tomorrow for a Saturday tradition that began last year on a Saturday in July. I would go for lunch, but I'm headed back to a restaurant I love and they're only open for dinner, so I'm taking myself out to dinner there again. It won't be a huge production like Savor the Summit, but I'd like to make both the small lunch/dinner, and the big Main Street bonanza a tradition.
