A shoemaker as I remember and of which are now few and far between. Replaces soles and heels with good materials. Has saved favorite bags whose handles that have popped out or were about to - opened seam, reinserted handle securely and re-sewed seam - flawless. Took a friend's favorite leather ankle boots and inserted matching short zipper to make them easier to get on. Yes - not exactly the day promised sometimes - didn't have correct zipper on hand, had to wait for glue to properly dry - worth waiting for for. The owner is selective on which customers get the best service. I do not recommend this place. The owner does not know how to treat customers. He always forgets to complete the work by the pick-up date - without fail! Again, the owner is selective to who will receive the best service and treat others like trash. Where is the fairness? It doesn't exist at this place! He is very rude and only shows respect to those he fear. If he feels like he did not do a good job, he will blame it on the customer for pointing out his poor work. He takes zero responsibility for his mistakes. Poor service! I miss the original owner!!! He knew how to respect his customers. There was equity and he did not make you feel like there was hierarchy amongst his customers. read more

No idea how this guy is still in biz. I took shoes there for stain removal and it was late 2 weeks from promised date. Still had stains. Decided to give him another chance for stitching a bag that he was confident he can do. Late 2 weeks again after promise date. Excuses after excuses on why it was late. He ruined my bag. I brought a bag to him 3 weeks ago. His prices are on the higher side but he claimed he would make it "better than new". He made me come back 4 x and each time he had an excuse why it wasn't ready. The 5th time- he said I had already picked it up. I called the police. When the police arrived, he brought out my bag- he had changed the color from a wine color to a very ugly brown. It has random red spots on it. He was not sorry. He's a liar. I wish I could give no stars at all. Very unethical and horrible. He said he's not going to pay for it. Basically he ruined my bag and tried to steal it. It was a 600$ Botkier bag. read more

I have been terribly disappointed with this business and will not be returning. Although I found this store to be messy and very disorganized, I wanted to support the businesses in my town but, with this business, I've reached my limit. Every time I've brought in shoes/bags for repair, I have had to return 2-3-4 times before my repairs are ready. The excuse always relates to a machine which doesn't work. Yesterday JULY 6TH, I returned for the 4TH TIME to pick up a backpack that I had brought in on MAY 6TH----2 MONTHS to sew 1 seam!! I waited over 10 minutes for him just to find my bag and only then did he sew it while I waited. So after 2 months, it hadn't even been worked on!!! In the future, I will go to Dumont Shoe Repair on West Madison Avenue. He does high quality work at very reasonable prices and he has always honored the due date. read more
