I have a new job in Montvale, NJ, and my second day on the job....as I'm walking into the office, the heel on one of my boots totally fell off....and I mean the whole heel fell off. My colleague googled this shop, and I left the office and drove there, not without a little trepidation because I don't know New Jersey at all. The owner immediately stopped what he was doing and found the most ingenious way to reattach the heel ... and away I went back to my job. Vince breathes new life into all my leather goods -- without fail -- promptly -- with a smile, good humor, courtesy, high quality craftsmanship, at reasonable prices. What's not to like. I figure that for all the money he has saved me over the years by resurrecting my old favorite shoes, boots and belts (most recently -- two pairs of my best Birkenstock clogs) -- I owe him some thanks with an updated review. Not every service provider in Ridgewood is overpriced, pretentious and hyped to the max -- despite this town's oft stated reputation to that effect. Vince is the pleasant exception to that stereotype -- and I would drive long distances to have him care for my cobbling needs. Seriously. This shoe repair emporium is the best in the county and maybe, the best in the region too. As close to the old school NYC originals that serve as my gold standard -- as good as any I remember. Top Tip: Parking is tight in Ridgewood, but Vince will give you no charge curbside delivery if you call him and ask for it. Also -- cash or check only -- but well worth it. I had a pleasant experience with getting my Louboutin soles protected. I called to inquire about the price ($45 for a pair, two options), and I dropped off the next day. I received my shoes back in less than 24 hours, and they've held up pretty well. There is complimentary 15 minute parking on both sides of the street, which is great for convenience. I brought my new Louboutin heels to Quality Shoe Repair at 9:30AM this morning to have a sole protector put on them to preserve the original sole and they were done by 12:30PM the same day and looked absolutely amazing! The owner of the shop was so nice and immediately showed me the sole protector he was going to be putting on my heels right when I brought them in, which looked like the original sole and so gorgeous, as opposed to the rubber red sole protectors many have on their Loubs. I'm so unbelievably happy with the end product and cannot thank this shop enough for getting it done so quickly. I've had lots of shoe and shoe related issues lately. Heels needed guards, my alligator belt needed new rings and I needed to replace insoles. I broke the zipper in an old leather bomber jacket. Did a lot of web searching before going to Quality. Not exactly around the corner for me. I am beyond happy with my experience. When I first walked in I was third in line. It was by busy for a reason. They're great. I got a quote, left my jjscket and went back a few days later to piccolo it up. Simply the best!!!! Vinny repaired the heal on my Frye boots and they look unbelievable! While there was a more expensive solution he suggested that I allow him to try patching the leather heel which would it cost to half the price! I did and the heel looks as good as new! I would typically go to NYC for any luxury shoe repairs but due to COVID decided to stay local and try Quality Shoe Repair. They are reasonably priced, friendly and have a quick turnaround. So far they have done some simple touch ups and added sole protectors to 3 pairs of shoes which include Louboutin and Valentino heels. I brought my brand new Frye boots in to see if they could suggest a solution to the slippery leather soles. The repair man was extremely helpful and they did a wonderful job at adding a thin rubber grip to the bottoms. Granted, what I needed fixed was simple but it was done same day and they were also very helpful in suggesting conditioning and waterproofing products to help extend the life of my boots. The shop is small and very busy but I am definitely bringing them all my shoe business. Only down side is that they do not take credit cards but that is no biggie. They also have an extensive collection of shoe polishes, waxes, laces, stretchers, etc. So if you need to purchase something along these lines give them a try instead of your local CVS. read more

He did a terrible job so I checked Yelp and found Quality Shoe Repair. I just picked up my shoes and he not only repaired what the other guy screwed up, but he did some extra work to keep the same problem that occurred from happening again. All done with a smile, congeniality, at a reasonable price, and within a few days. Oh and it was sooo hard to resist the candy in the dish at the register :) They don't take credit cards but will accept checks.
