Something seriously wrong here. For small, simple repairs and modifications, these guys are fine. But my former orthotist (who is also incompetent for accepting what these guys made) sent shoes I had bought out to them to be modified into rocker-bottom soles, like for metatarsal issues. Look at the pictures. This is what they did to the shoes. They added a ton of material to ONLY the ball of the foot, so that standing straight your feet would POINT UP. Like high heels, but in reverse. What the heck? Have... have these people ever seen human feet? Have they ever seen people walking around? These people are NOT certified pedorthists and should not be taking such work. read more

I haven't been to this shop in a while but it has all ways been a top notch shop with good service. As a younger woman who happens to be an amputee, this was the one place where the artisan worked magic to make my shoes work no matter what I asked or the issue . What made this place more special was the owner knew the people in the community. This store still stands today and though my shoe needs have changed it is good to see that with so many changes taking place in Hackensack people are still supporting this business. read more

Brought my boots in to have heels and soles replaced. The left heel was squeaking terribly, a problem I encountered before. The previous repair facility was not able to correct this problem, after a month the squeak was back. Decided to take it to Joe and S & J and mentioned my problem. Went in on a Saturday morning to get my flats fixed. My dog had chewed the back of it and a small portion of the shoe was missing. The gentleman matched the leather color and repaired the shoe within 4 hours. I picked it up same day. Noticed they also fix bags/suitcases/zippers. I was blown away and how fantastic the owner and his son were. I brought in a pair of shoes I wanted to wear for my wedding not expecting much to be done. The owner was so sweet and was able to fix a lot with my heels. The sides were too long and it was all over the place. He took apart my shoe and fitted me to them perfectly. Not only did he fit me to the shoes right away, they were done the next day. He also treated my shoes since they are suede. This place is amazing. They don't over charge you like many other places and they treat their customers well. If you need anything done to your shoes, this is the place. Excellent, professional service. Shoe repair may not be rocket science but I do expect a good job, and S&J delivers. I started going there a few years ago because a pair of hiking boots had been resoled by another shop and the new soles were coming off (the soles are glued on). I took them back to that guy and he re-glued them and then I had the exact same problem so I went to S&J on the recommendation of a friend. S&J resoled them and I've had no problems since, and this was maybe 3-4 years ago. Since then I've taken other shoes in and the work has been great. They come back looking like new too because they give them a first-class shine. I've only dealt with the owner, Joe, and he's unfailingly pleasant to deal with. read more

Excellent local "Mom & Pop" shop. I have brought three pairs of heels to S&J Shoe Repair and they did a great job repairing them each time. They are efficient, affordable, and a pleasure to work with! The owners are SO nice and truly care about their customers. I always find it interesting to look around at their inventory when I am there because they fix all sorts of things- Purses, Shoes (I've seen Louboutin's, Valentino's, etc), Belts, etc. They can even bring your old Uggs back to life!! I discovered this place a few years ago after the shop I used to go to for shoe repair in Teaneck closed down. I have loved them since my first visit and have been back many times to have heels and boots fixed or cleaned up. Whereas I used to wait sometimes up to a week to get new taps put on heels at my old place, here they've done it for me on the spot.
