Going to the dentist is never "fun," but my recent experience at Tend was one of the best dental visits I've had in a long time! Before booking with this trendy new dentist, I highly recommend giving your insurance company a call to ensure that you're covered ... Really, this is a good practice with any medical or dental service. I got the green light, and confirmed with the receptionist upon arrival that Tend accepts my insurance. The interior is clean and chic, with some fun patterns and tooth-themed decor throughout. I also appreciate the thoughtful details like having my name on the TV screen when I got to my room, and the sign that said "This space has been cleaned for you." My hygienist, Karen, was kind and knowledgeable throughout the appointment. She offered several great suggestions for oral health, along with genuine conversation. The dentist, Dr. Leonard, was friendly and thorough. During your cleaning, they allow you to wear noise cancelling headphones and watch a TV show of your choice on a screen on the ceiling. This was a welcome distraction. I'll definitely return to this location again the next time I'm due for a cleaning! read more

In office was great, but TEND call center employees / representatives & insurance process makes me want to never use them again. I got dental insurance, and processed it through the Tend app 2 months ago, Made an appointment with the treatment plan given, and called for an estimate. Where I was informed 24hrs before my appointment that they still haven't verified my insurance and are unable to give me an OOP estimate. So they moved my appointment to allow time, I called back again before the next appt, STILL nothing. That was a month ago. The past 4 days. I've been stuck on calls with the call centers that wont actually give me any information as they're saying my insurance wasn't verified since I didn't have an appointment.... Which I did in DEC that I had to cancel due to their lack of help. So Another appointment is made, and I ask for an OOP quote and they said nope, still not verified, cant quote anything. This does not make sense. How does this company expect to get clients when they're not helpful or giving answers. I called a dental office down the street from Tend today, and they were able to process my insurance and give me a quote with in 15 minutes. For a "trendy aesthetically pleasing" dental office thats all they have going for them, as the lack of helping customers. read more

I cannot recommend Tend enough! From the moment I walked in, I felt at ease, which is rare for me when it comes to dental visits. The receptionist, Keisha, was incredibly welcoming and friendly, making the check-in process smooth and comforting. But what really stood out was my experience with my hygienist, Allyson Adams, who is truly heaven-sent. I came in with some anxiety (my blood pressure was 145 due to nerves), but Allyson was exceptionally professional and patient. She didn't judge my tooth concerns and took every step to make me feel comfortable. She explained each part of the procedure clearly and in a way that I could understand, easing my anxiety at every turn. Little gestures, like resting her hand on my shoulder to reassure me and frequently checking to see if I was okay, made a huge difference. She even gave me positive feedback throughout, which helped me relax. The clinic itself is modern, clean, and bright, creating a relaxing atmosphere. They think of everything for patient comfort--sunglasses, a headset, and a TV mounted on the ceiling for a completely different dental experience. I give Tend my highest recommendation, especially if you're looking for a clinic that genuinely cares about its patients' comfort. And definitely ask for Allyson Adams--she's the best! read more

Update: it gets even better after contacting my insurance and getting my insurance to correct it and resubmit the claims myself. Tend just charged my card for hundreds of dollars without authorization, even though they have the chat copies from my insurance saying claims are being redone, and they know the charges are incorrect. Between all the reviews of this happening to other people, maybe there is a treasure trove lawsuit hidden. It seems like they are doing this on purpose. read more

If you want to be lied to and taken advantage of then this is your place. I was told they took my insurance then after 3 weeks I got charged over $400 and called my insurance which they said the dentist I used didn't have a contract with them. I have never been so upset. I called the dentist and tried to explain which she hung up on me saying "ok" All I can say is stay away from this place if you want to be talked to honestly. Cleaning went fine, nice facility, nice hygienist, but at the end they said "and now we'll do a fluoride treatment." They made it seem like it was all just part of a regular visit so I didn't think much of it. When they were done and walked me out to the front, they charged me $60 for fluoride. If I had known it was an optional add on I would have asked them not to!!! Super shady to not give me a choice and not tell me how much it would cost and then charge me. I'd recommend either looking elsewhere or asking every step of the way about pricing. Very disappointing. read more

My DR and hygienist were great. Payton was wonderful. Everything was honestly ok, but 3 stars due to the frustration of their start up dentist mentality. Any time you need to speak to someone, it goes to some call center. I just want to talk to a person in the office...but that's impossible. You must wait on hold for an hour to talk to a call center that handles it all. Trying to fit in an appt; you just want the office to call if they have a cancellation, but nope. That office has no clue you even called. There is very little sense of personal relation that you would want to have at any office. Stop acting like a start up, and act like a professional office that puts patients first. read more

Yes I was drawn by the idea of a chill dentist that had noise canceling headphones (bc dentist anxiety) and was close to my job. But I'll be back because of my sweet hygienist Allyson S. Seriously have never had such a thoughtful and helpful hygienist in my life. She took the time to teach me what I could do to work on areas I was missing and was completely non-judgmental. The girls in the office are nice, but they straight-up lied to my partner about being in our Delta insurance network. She asked multiple times and they kept saying YES. After she came home with a large bill, I called Delta and it turns out they are NOT in-network. They overcharged us and it's been an absolute nightmare trying to get our money back. Their "local" 615 number just goes to some corporate office. It's literally impossible to call the local East Nashville office directly. The wait times when calling that corporate number are crazy long. When I finally got through, the very unhelpful rep still insisted they were in-network (gave me some nonsense about "blanket" coverage for all their offices which was a blatant lie) and casually said she'd "look into it". She showed zero concern about them lying and overcharging us. I did some research and, according to some things I read online, it seems they have a long history of overcharging and lying about being in-network. I implore you to Google their history before making an appointment with them. Don't make the same mistake we did! If you have gone there already, check your bill carefully! If you see anomalies, report them to your insurance company's fraud hotline and to TN Consumer Insurance Services. What they did to us is highly illegal. This is an awful corporate dentist office. We have plenty of legit local dentists in our East Nashville community and we plan to go to them in the future. read more

I would NOT recommend! The facility is great and sci fi vibes which I love :). Noelle, my dental hygienist was fantastic! BEWARE ann MAKE SURE they check your insurance and DEF get the price before you do anything. I have been with the same insurance for 10 plus years. We have excellent insurance. Tend is trying to charge 4 x the price that any other dentist in Nashville has charged. I was charged for the first visit which is meant to be free according to Tend plus I get free cleanings 2 per year, but my tooth needed heavy cleaning which my insurance has a price of 90ish dollars but Tend charged me 150ish dollars. When we called to further inquire as to why: First off we got corporate, not our local office and Secondly, we had a corporate person tell us the opposite of what our insurance told us (and what we have experienced for the last 10 years). When we asked why they are not honoring our insurance they said they would refund me once cleared by insurance which makes no sense.. We never have experienced this and we use insurance loads and secondly why would they charge me more out of pocket than what our insurance is meant to pay, again, rubbish! Then the corporate lady said to just call the insurance and sort it.... which again makes no sense. Very bad experience. Here is how bid the price difference is: My insurance is $300 for a crown and they are quoting me with my insurance .. almost $2000! HUGE PRICE DIFFERENCE... and I was in network. Makes no sense. After speaking to corporate and getting no help at all, I decided that I would cancel my follow up. Guess what.. I was unable to cancel online or find the number to East Nashville office. I had to call corporate again. Total inconvenience. I am annoyed beyond words because I made a point several times to ask about insurance and they told me several times, insurance was covered, No problem. It is really a shame as I loved Noelle. She did an excellent job. In conclusion..... Beware and make sure they don't charge you a ridiculous amount.. Have them check your insurance before and DONT take their word for it if they say your normal copay insurance was fine. Do NOT go here! Save your money, time, and teeth and go to a dentist that is actually competent and knows what they're doing! I go in for my general cleaning/check up and have no complaints or teeth bothering me, and I am someone who sees the dentist every 6 months for a cleaning but I recently moved to Nashville and had to find a new dentist. The dentist I saw during my cleaning informs me that I "need 2 crowns" and that a tooth I had a root canal on previously was likely reinfected, even though I had no pain or symptoms of an infection. The dentist said my teeth needed the crowns so they wouldn't fracture and they could go ahead and start the crown prep process the same day on 1 of the teeth. I agree and get the temporary crown placed and am scheduled to come back in 2 weeks for the permanent crown to be delivered. 2 weeks later, on November 8th, I go back for them to put in my permanent crown and I'm seeing a different dentist with no explanation of where my original dentist is. The permanent crown does not fit so they re order the permanent crown and put my temporary back on. A few hours after leaving the office, my temporary crown comes off. I call and they tell me they can't get me back in until Thursday (2 days later). I go on Thursday, they put the temporary crown back on. Friday morning I'm eating a banana, the crown comes off yet again. I immediately call and am told they don't have anything available that day and I politely explain this will be the third time coming in this week for the crown and I need to be seen ASAP and somehow they make space for me an hour later. Get the temporary crown put back on, Saturday morning the temporary pops right off AGAIN. This time I went to the bathroom and shoved it back on my tooth myself because I didn't have the time or mental energy to go back into the office. My appointment is scheduled for the permanent crown to be placed (the re ordered permanent crown) the week after Thanksgiving. They call me and have to reschedule my appointment for the following week, December 5th. I go back in December 5th and I'm ready to be done with the ill fitting temporary crown that wouldn't stay on and I couldn't even eat properly with only to be informed that the second permanent crown they have ordered for me still does not fit! I'm visibly upset and crying in the office because of all the frustrations I've had with the process and temporary crown and the time I've wasted. None of the staff ever genuinely apologized for all of the inconveniences.The temporary crown goes back on and I come back December 15th for the 3rd attempt at placing a permanent crown. They put the permanent crown on and I'm just so happy to be done with this process! But wait! I go back to my home state for the holidays and only 5 days after the permanent crown was placed - it pops right off my tooth! Luckily, I'm in my hometown and call my lifelong dentist and he takes a look at it for me and says the dentist at Tend did not even cement the permanent crown on! Overall I had a temporary crown on my tooth for almost 2 months when they should only be on for 2 weeks, visited Tend 6 times since October and spent probably 12 hours in total at Tend. The only reason I continued coming back was because I had already paid for the permanent crown and and I was stuck with them until it was delivered. They are also extremely slow and constantly leaving the room to go do other things so you're left just sitting in the chair for approximately half the appointment with no one in the room working on you. Now for the tooth that they told me was likely reinfected. I did NOT go to the endodontist they referred me to because I had already decided if it were infected I would not be coming back to Tend for it to be fixed. I went to the endodontist who did my root canal on that tooth originally and I was told it was NOT reinfected. I hope you can learn from my mistake and DO NOT GO TO TEND FOR ANY REASON! The dentists do not know what they are doing, they're slow, & inconsiderate. PLEASE save your teeth, your time, & money. read more

I've never left a yelp review before but I felt I needed to share my experience with Tend because it was so awful! I started having crazy dental pain on a Friday, but couldn't get into see my regular dentist until the following Tuesday, so I made an emergent appointment with Tend Dentistry in 5 Points for Saturday morning. They made me wait over an hour and a half, after which the doctor spent less than 5 minutes with me, looked at my X-ray and said I have a pretty gnarly infection and that he was going to call me in 2 antibiotics and refer me to an endodontist. They then charged me out of pocket because they couldn't "find our insurance" so we have to deal with a bill back for that to be covered. Then I waited all day Saturday for the prescription to be filled and the NEVER SUBMITTED IT. I'm in crazy pain and paid you $215 for 5 minutes of your time, and you couldn't even call in a prescription? It's now Monday at 1pm and they still haven't called it it. Toooootal money grab and such horrible patient care. Steer clear. read more

Everything was going really well until it was discovered I had cavities. I have never had a cavity in my life so getting a filling isn't something I'm familiar with. I let them know this. I was numbed with the topical gel on the left side of my mouth prior to the first round of anesthetic injections. When it was determined I wasn't numb enough on that side, I was told that the doctor would be in to administer more anesthetic. The dentist came in and immediately administered an anesthetic injection to the right side of my mouth. I attempted to stop him and question things and he did not address my concerns and instead administered yet another anesthetic injection to the right side of my mouth. He told me he had decided that he would do all my fillings at once instead of what I had been told which was left side this visit and right side at a future visit. I think this is highly inappropriate and that he should've better communicated his plans with me. I was in so much pain and so upset and he chastised me for moving and for not being able to handle it. I have never wanted to end an experience so much in my life. After all of that, we were only able to complete the left side because I was too shaken up to sit through any more of it. How can I trust a person who treats me in such a way? I don't want to come back to finish my remaining fillings, but I don't have a choice as they have already taken my money. Honestly, I have never had a more traumatic experience in my entire life. I can say that after I finish my fillings I definitely won't be going back to Tend and I will not recommend it to anyone. Since this awful experience I have had nothing but issues getting ahold of a supervisor to discuss my experience, whether locally or with Tend's corporate. It's been a month and despite being promised an immediate call back on 4 separate occasions, I have heard nothing and I am still having issues with pain in my mouth I didn't have before. Do yourself a favor and go to a real dentist and skip out on the aesthetically pleasing option because that's all Tend is. read more
