My new pup exam ($25) was a total waste of money and time. The doctor didn't even do an exam. She rubbed him & administered two shots (Rabies + DHPP). I was charged $140 for this visit. After researching, the vaccination tag is only $5-$10 per google in St. Charles county and this vet charged me $20 for the tag itself. Highway robbery. I wouldn't be surprised they were up charging the vaccinations themselves. Take your dog elsewhere. read more

Tender Care is now owned by a corporation and the level of care has drastically decreased. They only care about their profit margins. After spending $1200, I was told it would be another $40 per dog to cut my their nails (because they don't want to do it). I don't mind a few, of course, but $40 is ridiculous. They recommended a two week check up after an issue, so I made an appointment. When I get there they tell me there will be a "recheck" charge plus a retest fee. This was not disclosed at the time of recommendation of the follow up visit. In the past follow up visits were not charged (medicine excluded). They've taken what used to be a great veterinary office that used to care and turned it into nothing more than a sales opportunity. Find an independently owned veterinary office. read more

After a long battle with hyperthyroidism and subsequent renal failure, I had to let my cat, Kitkit go. They made every effort to help her regain some strength and to keep her comfortable in the end. From the front desk staff and vet techs to both Dr. Matt & Dr. Jacob, they were so compassionate and caring. Took my sweet baby, Sprinkle here for a second opinion before we made the final decision to say goodbye (she had a large mass on her liver and was very underweight+anemic). As soon I brought her in I could feel the genuine compassion this staff has for animals. They listened to me and were extremely empathetic to the situation we had been through. Dr. Matt is one of the most caring and genuine veterinarians I've ever met. While the decision ended up being that letting her go was what was most fair for Sprinkle, I did feel some comfort knowing she had a thorough second opinion and that I was doing what was best for her. The office also sent me a beautiful sympathy card after they learned of Sprinkle's passing, which included lovely notes of condolences and support. I truly appreciate their professionalism and compassion throughout one of the hardest losses I've experienced, losing my Sprinkle. Love this vet and employees. We've used Dr. Matt most of the time, but been using this place for the past 10 years and have no complaints. Ordering in medications for easy pickup and care for our pups and ultimately helping make tough decisions in the past a couple of times. We took our new kitten, Lucas Alexander, to Tender Care Animal Hospital yesterday to receive his complimentary exam, something they offer if you adopt from the St. Charles animal shelter. We were very impressed with our experience! The staff acted in a very caring, pleasant and compassionate manner throughout the duration of our visit! We wanted to address a few heath concerns we had about our kitten. He has an issue with one of his eyes, not life threatening, but it does cause him to not be able to open the particular eye all the way. We assume that he was born this way... anyways Dr. Emily recommended a laser procedure that she felt could help our little kitty out. The best part is, is that the St. Charles animal shelter is going to pay for the surgery!! Hopefully it will help little Lucas to open his eye up a little more! :-) Dr. Emily quickly diagnosed a minor ear infection and sent us home with the right antibiotics to clear it up within a couple of weeks. We also had a feline leukemia/FIV test done (also paid for by the St. Charles animal shelter!!!) which came back negative!! :-) Evelyn and Sequoya very kindly and patiently took the time to show me the proper way to give Lucas his medication and they also showed me how to clip his nails! I was clipping them on my own with confidence before I even left Tender Care Animal Hospital! Amanda and Karen were attending the front desk when we arrived and when we departed. They greeted us very kindly and warmly when we got there and were pleasant to interact with throughout our visit! After having such a great experience here today, I know that this is absolutely the place that I will be heading to for all of my veterinary needs and I will also recommend Tender Care to all of my family and friends in the area. Dr. Bob is a really compassionate and caring vet. I wish more vets cared as much as he does! I run a rescue in California and have gone to his clinic in Poway (Best Friends). He has done amazing work on many of our rescue animals. Due to the fact that I had to relocate to the Midwest it is hard to find a good vet that I trust. Luckily Dr. Bob has a clinic 3 hours from where I live. Yes I drove to Tender Care when he was in town so that my current foster dog and my cat could receive the best care. I was just as impressed with the staff at this clinic as I was with the one in Poway. If you want a compassionate and loving vet seeing your pet, this is the place to go! I have been taking my pug here for several years. He has some health issues from being rescued. All staff have been great every single time. From the receptionist Sharon, tech Kim, to the Dr.'s (Matt) are professional, friendly, and explain things throughly. I even got a free initial exam due to rescuing from Diana's Grove. read more

The vet was fine but when it came down to euthanizing my dear dog the front desk help( Sherrie) made my ordeal feel like just another transaction. when I asked if we could perform the task in the back of my truck Sherrie had to go ask to see if they could accommodate that request. The response was lousy, no to getting the procedure started but yes to finishing the task and oh it would have to happen in the back so all the folks out front wouldn't see what was going on. And there was no one in the parking lot. When I asked to prepay I was told $150 dollars even though it was only $40 for my last pet. When all was said and done I decided I'd had enough. I was disgusted with the lack of empathy and it being just another transaction. I said no, I've had enough I'll put my dog down myself and so I took him to his final resting place overlooking a beautiful pond he loved to swim in at my farm. He could barely move but he followed me, where I dug his grave overlooking the pond and then I ended his struggles. I miss him horribly as he was my best friend. Needless to say I will never use Tendercare veterinary services again! read more

Our black lab became seriously ill and even though Dr. Bob was over 1,500 miles away, he called as soon as he read my email detailing her symptoms, then he called the emergency surgery center to get her in right away for an MRI. I cannot say enough good things about Tender Care - they have flexible hours, a great staff, and prices that are very reasonable. I brought both of my dogs to them to have routine dental cleanings and a couple of lumps removed. They provided me with before and after pics of my dogs' mouths - which was incredible to see and really showed me that my money was well spent. The vet even called the next day to make sure that my dogs did well overnight after their anesthesia. Overall, Tender Care gets an A+!!! read more

I've been taking my dogs here for almost two years now and I am extremely happy with everything they have done. I got both of them fixed there. They were very caring and understanding with all of my questions and my dogs. They went the extra mile with my bully after her surgery and actually spent time with her until she felt better down. My dog's life was saved by the doctors at Tender Care Animal Hospital. Pixie, my Miniature Pinscher was sick throwing up and in pain. After a few days of treatment for pancreatitis, Pixie was not getting better and the doctors recommended an ultrasound, which showed she had an abscess on her pancreas. It was a very risky surgery and the doctors recommended a specialist. I could not afford the specialist, so the doctors at Tender Care did the surgery at a much more affordable price. The doctors and staff's genuine concern and excellent care of Pixie, kept her comfortable and fighting to get well. The doctors even took her home at night after surgery to keep a close eye on her. The doctors called me daily with updates on Pixie. I was allowed to visit Pixie often which kept Pixie's and my spirits up. I am so thankful to the doctors at Tender Care Animal Hospital for saving her life. read more

For some of us our animals are all we have. The care and love and financial commitment can be immeasurable, but as a teacher I do not have the highest financial resources. I have recently moved to the area and was looking for a loving, competent vet practice that could handle a difficult dog, but not cost me a fortune. Scooter is a rescue puppy from Southern Missouri, a schnauzer/blue heeler mix, yah he's kind of a jerk....okay he is horrible at the vet and groomers, and rather Snarly and compulsive with other people. I began taking my two dogs to Tender Care at the recommendation of my brother and sister-n-law. They have only exceeded my expectations. My 10 year old standard poodle was in pain from arthritis in her hips. They began her on Deramaxx and at the age of nearly 14, there are times she appears to smile. Two years ago, she began losing interest in food, going out, getting up, etc. It did not look good for her. The vets at Tender Care would not stop until they discovered what was wrong. She had high blood pressure which was affecting the rest of her organs. She began taking medication for her pressure and considering she weighs 37 pounds and will be 14 in June, she is doing amazing! I got my dog back! She looks and acts 10 again! They definitely saved her life and I would not imagine taking my girls to anyone else!
