I was iffy having to visit another vet after many years however; I've relocated and found Clarkson-Wilson to be much closer for my Pugs veterinary needs. I had a great first experience here. The receptionist was pleasant, the assistant was very nice and personable with both Bam & I which made us comfortable. Bam had an ear infection and required treatment as I noticed him shaking his head, not responding to my calls and the build-up in his ears also had an odor. Dr. Pat was extremely warm and welcoming and handled my baby with TLC. W The only reason I gave a 4/5 stars is because when Dr. Pat took Bam in the back to clean his ears I could hear very loudly a couple of male employees laughing and making comments about the yeast odor of Bam's ear infection. This made me uncomfortable and I thought it was unprofessional for that type of discussion/playfulness to take place when clients were in such close proximity. It was pricey but Bam needed 2 prescriptions to clear his infection. This clinic is clean, close and the staff I encountered were all pleasant and knowledgeable enough for me to return. Dr. Doug is not my usual vet, but my vet suggested him for my rats. He and the rest of the staff are compassionate, professional, and certainly as good as it gets. The front desk staff were helpful and friendly on the phone, and Dr. Doug was just phenomenal. He also gives out his personal cell number and encourages clients to call with any questions, etc. Much better than the typical "Call the front desk during business hours, and then they'll tell me to call you. Eventually" like most clinics. This is something my regular vet does as well and something that really separates those two gentlemen from the rest of the herd (no pun intended). Clarkson Wilson Vet Clinic was great. I took my little 4 month old pup there for his first check up. Dr. Doug Pernikoff is great and very knowledgeable. My experience at the Vet's office was pleasant, easy, fast, and informative. My pup is up to date on his shots, he's healthy, and all in all I was in and out and ready to go within 20-25 minutes. They provide ok service. The staff is nothing special. I am not really a fan of random cats walking around that can get close to me as I'm allergic to cats an avoid them (I don't know if vet clinics normally have uncagged animals roaming or not). And the cats drive my dog nuts who is already a handful in public, let alone at a vet office with so many smells, and THEN a cat walking around?! Too much! I feel like Dr. Pam is nice and friendly but doesn't spend a ton of time with you. I felt slightly rushed. Dr. Doug was better and spent more time and seemed more willing to help if I ever needed it. That's what I want in a vet. They never appear very busy yet they refuse at all costs to take you to a room before your appt time . It's not like the room is occupied... Never see anyone leave, they just make you sit in an uncomfortable waiting room with your pet. I'd rather be in the cramped room. I wasn't thrilled when they really didn't do a lot of heartgard promotion (Dr Pam really) as I didn't know I needed a rx or I had to get it at the vets office. I missed a month because of that. read more

Dr.Doug Pernikoff and his employees have been fantastic with our pets for many years now. He cared for our Aussie throughout his liver cancer crisis, including major surgery. He is now 14 years old and doing wonderfully! He has also cared for our three cats, 3 chameleons, 2 geckos, 2 bearded dragons, 4 ducks, 1 hedgehog, 1 bird, and an injured fox in our yard. The staff is kind and caring, and his experience with animals worldwide has proven to be priceless for our unusual pets. It's a great place!! read more

I took my very sick cat to see Dr. Magan Scheel, and I was very happy with our visit. She gave him the meds he needed to get well again. She went over his x-rays with me, and I felt like I was being informed, and included in the process. She is very thorough, and articulate, and I didn't feel like she was rushed like I have felt at other places. I had a sick cat who could barely function, and after two days he was back to himself again. She is a great vet! read more

We had been using a different veterinarian for a number of years, I called them on a Saturday morning with a sick dog and asked them to please get me in they said sorry we don't have any openings. I called Clarkson-Wilson next with the same story except I had never set foot in their practice. They said sure, how long will it take you to get here. We changed veterans that day. Fast forward a few years my wife and I come home from being out of town to find our dog (yep same dog) with a severe ear infection. It's Monday evening 5:40 and they close at 6:00. When I called and told them my story they again said sure how soon can you be here. "We're already in the car headed that way" They fantastic customer service and in their case the customers are your pets. read more

I will NEVER be back. This clinic broke my heart. My gorgeous cat (who was about 15) was lethargic and had other symptoms. I took her here and sat in the exam room for over 20 minutes while the counter girls cackled and laughed but never sent anyone in. We finally had to go ask for the Dr. This man was not professional. My cat ended up being in kidney failure and we were told we could have a few more years with her if we agreed to treatment. After consideration we agreed as she was amazing and we were not ready to lose her. She was left overnight for an IV flush. The next day we got the call that she had passed overnight. I was crushed. I felt like the Dr had filled us with hope when in reality he should have been honest about her situation and let us know she was past the point of help. We decided to have her cremated through them which was supposed to take about a week and a half. Nearly 3 weeks later and no call so we called only to find out they couldn't locate her remains! Clearly they got thrown out. Thanks Clarkson Wilson for losing my cats remains. So I didn't get her back either way. We called for a refund which they tried to do over the phone and instead charged us twice! We eventually had to go in and get a check, not exactly the place any of us wanted to be. My experience here has left me completely heartbroken and I will never be back. Upon reading reviews on here I saw they argued with yelpers giving "their side of the story" how dare you? Don't bother responding to my review as I already have negative feelings about you. I WOULD NOT TAKE MY ANIMALS HERE EVER AGAIN. read more

When we first moved to the Chesterfield area we looked around for a new vet because it was that time of year for shots. I was very impressed with the personal service that I recieved from the staff. Later our dog ate something he shouldn't have and we phoned the emergency cell phone number that was on the card given to us. Within minutes Dr. Doug has called us back telling us not to worry and talked us through what we could do (non-emergency). Later a different time we went in for service regarding a possible surgery issue. Once again Dr. Doug said we were a little quick and anything invasive is not recommend by him unless necessary. Which was NOT what other vets had told us. Needless to say Dr. Doug is about the animals health and not making a quick buck off of our love of our pets. I would HIGHLY recommend this clinic. Its a shame we moved this past month to the St. Charles area but that doesn't stop us as we have a new dog that is limping around for a couple of days and when my wife asked me where I wanted to get a vet appointment at I didn't hesitate to say the one in Chesterfield because I trust Doug's opinion cause of my dealings in the past with him. Having said that office visits cost a little bit more but for reassurance $15 more a visit is a small price in the long run. PLUS ADDED BONUS its right next door to the pet bakery place!!! read more

I'm so disappointed at the answer to my review. No where in there is an apology. I just feel like you are trying to blame me for not complaining sooner, when in reality I did complain every time there was need for a complaint. Never was I given a solution that seemed like this establishment cared about me or my pets. Some of the responses are downright lies. Your office told me the blood was contaminated and that you needed more blood to redo the test and you did not charge me for that blood as it was your mistake. Also, youwere not closed for an "emergency" like you say. There was a sign taped to the door that said the employees were having some sort of appreciation event like a picnic. Also with Jasmine, you did not do ANY other work on her on the second visit. It was strictly talking about her and that was it. What a rude review. You called me a liar while telling your item lies. I've changed my review from two stars to one. I was indifferent, now I will divert pet owners from using your location. read more

Dr. Pernikoff saved our beloved coonhound, Kobi, from certain death. When we brought him to the Clarkson- Wilson Vet clinic, our pet had suffered a seizure and was shaking uncontrollably from pain. Dr. Doug confirmed that our dog had foreign objects in his stomach, and needed surgery. My husband and I were very concerned about Kobi's survival, so it was wonderful that Dr. Pernikoff took the time to explain our pets situation, the surgery he needed, answered any questions we had, and and gave us great hope for a positive outcome. Our dog had a perforated stomach, and peritonitis throughout his abdomen. Dr. Pernikoff, removed all the foreign materials, repaired his stomach, and treated his very serious infection. Kobi is back home with us, and looks like his old self! We cannot thank Dr. Doug enough for his expertise, kindness, compassion, and his caring staff. Stan, our pup, loves coming here. When I first got him over a year ago, he had a couple health issues. Clarkson-Wilson Veterinary Clinic not only helped Stan, but also helped me, a first time dog owner. They took the time to reassure me, answer all questions, and provide excellent care. They were able to fit him in for appointments the same day when I wasn't sure what was going on with him. All staff is knowledgeable and kind. Dr. Doug, Dr. Pam, and the entire staff are amazing! They have been taking care of my dog for several years. When he developed a serious, potentially life threatening illness they took amazing care of him and never rushed one of my many calls to check on his status while he stayed there. In addition, I was able to reach Dr. Doug on the weekends and in the evenings with concerns when he was home. Personally, I love they have the rescue cats be cage-free during the day (most of the time they are sleeping on top of them or behind the receptionist desk). It was very comforting to me to have one sleeping in my lap while my dog was in surgery. They understand that your pet is family. read more

This place sucks. They were one of the vets for the Operation Spot Program this past week and gave us wrong information. When my son brought his dog in they told him they didn't remember talking to him and didn't have him on the schedule but the could do the spaying for $75 instead of the normal $400. Really $400. Dr. Doug is the greatest! We have dealt with Dr. Pam a few times too and she is excellent as well. They have helped us through several serious pet health issues and our pets have come out happy, healthy, and good as new. Our dogs are so excited when they get to go to the vet because they are treated very well. We have boarded a few times here and were very happy with the level of care received. The doctors are very knowledgeable and helpful. We would never go anywhere else!! read more

The vet, as a person, is very nice. That is the ONLY positive thing I can state about this clinic unfortunately. I brought my animal to them in an emergency situation, and it required hospitalization. I was told I would receive daily updates on their condition -- I did not receive an update until two days later, when I was told that it had passed away. When I asked for a necropsy service to be performed (on that animal, and another that had passed from the same thing), I was told it would be done the next day. I then called in for DAYS in a row, asking for an update. I have yet to receive any call back from this vet office in further regard to ANY of my animals or necropsy. I have never encountered such neglectful service, and I regret bringing my animals to these people. If they can't pick up a phone or answer basic questions regarding what happened, I have my doubts that my animal was cared for properly in her emergency state, and that they were very possibly liable for her death. read more

i took my pet rat in for heavy breathing, they said it would be 250.00 and they would keep her 3 days, i checked on her twice a day and they never said the price was going up but when i went in to get her they charged me 467.00. my husband and i are both retired and on a fixed income. and i thought i should have been notified before it went over the 250.00. they also had her down as an exotic pet. i dont get that at all, there more like gunie pigs and hamsters. i was sooooooo upset. years ago when we had a horse emergency it never cost that much and the fact that they didnt inform me of the high cost was really upsetting. marsha shanks read more

My significant other and I actually came here to visit the rescue clinic operating within the veterinary clinic. I originally looked at petfinder.com and found several dogs that were located at Vet-Pet Rescue. When tried contacting the rescue thru the email that was listed with the agency information, I never got an answer (to this day I still have not gotten a reply). The next day I looked at their actual website and found a different email listed. I sent the same email from the day before to that email address and got a reply within minutes. The puppy that I was interested in looking at had been adopted the day before - hmmm, providing the correct email on petfinder.com could have prevented us from missing that opportunity. However, there was a whole litter of puppies that were also there. I immediately inquired about one of them and was told that we could come and look at the puppy immediately. (Apparently some dogs are fostered and some are kept at the clinic). The puppy that we looked at immediately liked us as much as we liked him. The adoption process was quick and we were treated with respect and friendliness by the whole staff. Sarah, who is basically in charge of the adoption side of things, was knowledgeable in the history of the puppy and what all care had been performed to this point, and what was still needed/included in the adoption fees. We were even given our first dosses of Frontline and Heartguard. We did see "Dr. Doug" come out to the waiting area several times and greet each and every single person in there, and sat down with the people who were there to pick up the animals that had procedures performed. He was very kind in explaining things in detail and if an exam room was available, he would pull them into there to speak to them privately. The waiting area is somewhat small for the amount of clients that come in. We had to sit on the floor off to a side, hoping to be out of the way, but later discovered that it was a walkway to an exam room. Several of the clients that were in there were also nice and greeted us and were extremely happy to see that we were rescuing our cute little guy. There was the "clinic cat" that roamed free. While this did not bother me, I can see where it would cause problems for other people who are allergic, or those having animals that do not get along with cats. I walked away from this experience very positively and even told my sister, who has been/is a vet tech at another very reputable clinic for many years, and she was actually pleasantly surprised that Clarkson-Wilson Vet Clinic had a rescue clinic inside it, and thought very highly of the doctors here.
