Absolutely wonderful first trip to Tenku with my wife tonight. The atmosphere is beautiful. We sat at the sushi bar and Santo and the guys were so friendly and welcoming. Great conversation along with the food. We had the Fantasy role, the Otoro special nigiri and the hamachi and serano nigiri. All perfect and delicious. We'll definitely be back and this place will be in the regular rotation. They even gave us a gift of two chopstick sets took home. read more

The food didn't wow me... there's better sushi nearby. I order a lunch combo of salad (soup is also a choice) and two rolls of a list of maybe 8. I chose the shrimp tempura roll which was very good but not constructed well and the tuna roll which I found a little too fishy. My starter of edamame was very good- served hot and salty. I've been here twice and sadly it's consistently not great. I so wanted this place to shine and become my go to sushi spot but I don't think I'll be back. The first time I was there was the first few days they opened. Although everyone was kind and friendly the over all knowledge by the waitstaff of menu items was lacking. I do not understand how any sushi restaurant doesn't serve real crab. Why is anyone offering imitation crab? The vegetable fried rice was so gross it was uneditable, the tuna roll had a horrible scent and taste , it went straight into the trash if I'm being honest. I can say the nigiri was good. But that's really all that I found to be redeeming. The 2nd time I came by I sat at the sushi bar on a Saturday late afternoon and was baffled to see the servers totally checked out , on their phones not paying attention too much. The manager who I have now seen both times I've been there doesn't seem to care about those optics but in my opinion he should. It's not a good look. Anyway , the nigiri ( all 3 orders ) that I had were definitely fresh and tasty. The wasabi and ginger accoutrements is what has me baffled. It's laughable how small of an amount of this you are given. They are premade dishes ( the waitress said ) and it made me laugh because it's so miniature it seemed like a joke lol. The waitress although super sweet didn't have a clue about the sushi , once again lacking the ability to know your menu items is a huge turn off. Great Potential, but Needs Operational Fine-Tuning This spot has a lot of potential, but given the premium price point, it isn't quite delivering the elevated, luxury experience it aims for just yet. Currently, the operational flow feels a bit disconnected. For instance, despite having three hostesses standing at the front, the dining room remained two-thirds empty due to a rigid reservation policy that leaves walk-ins waiting. Given the high-traffic location, they may want to rethink this concept. Additionally, the atmosphere inside is quite loud and the tables are small. If you're dining with a toddler, it is definitely not kid-friendly indoors--I highly recommend grabbing a table outside instead. The service structure also needs a second look. The bartenders are amazing and the drinks are top-tier, but they are completely overwhelmed having to take food orders for bar patrons on top of mixing drinks. They literally do not have the time, and it makes you feel guilty just asking for a glass of water. As for the menu, there were some definite highs along with a few misses: Tuna Tartare: Beautiful presentation and plating with a great spice level. However, the texture lacked definition; it felt almost like a tuna purée rather than diced fish. Uni Nigiri: The ratio was off. There was way too much rice, which completely masked the uni. I tried the uni on its own and while it was good, it isn't the best in town. Salmon Lover Roll (10/10): Absolutely fantastic. The salmon was incredibly fresh and the flavors were perfectly balanced. Tenku Roll (9/10): Very well executed and tasty, even though I'm personally just not a huge fan of crispy rice. Overall, the foundation is absolutely there. It just seems like management needs a bit more time to train the newer hires, fine-tune their internal processes, and find an operational balance that truly matches their price tag. read more

The sushi was fantastic. The server named Georgia was very kind and friendly. The outside was gorgeous with many stores such as Apple Store, L'occitane, and Sephora. The warm lights in the restaurant were beautiful. The color of the tables and the chairs match with the warm light. The appetizers of calamari didn't taste fresh, it tasted as if it were from frozen foods. The vegetable dumpling was quite tasty. The sushi's were the best. I had the Pink Lady, it was quite delicious. I look forward to try out the Fantasy Roll or the rolls with mango in it. The shrimp dumpling was seemed as though it was from a frozen package food as well. Overall, it is a very beautiful restaurant with wonderful sushi's. read more

Microscopic eel lol Uni nigiri 5/5 fresh, no aftertaste. Not top tier uni but $23 for 2 pieces is a solid deal Salmon belly nigiri x2 4/5 not super fatty, decent portion. Rice wasnt very vinegar forward Chutoro nigiri 4/5 fresh, same rice issue Udon 3/5 noodles slightly overcooked. More Chinese style than Japanese. Tempura was perfectly fried though Tuna tartare 4/5 fresh but kinda flat flavor wise. Needed more brightness. Asked multiple staff and the manager what it was and no one knew (mystery roll ended up being good though) Another time a server tried dropping off a roll and asked us what it was bc the kitchen didnt tell her lol Tuna tartare came out without chips. Manager comped it which was nice, but it was odd no one mentioned it before bringing it out They just need more training and tighter coordination. Running out of that much food at 7pm on opening night is kinda wild Tbh the whole night was so chaotic it was so funny just nonstop little surprises S E R V I C E Service was friendly across the board. We gave this new restaurant a try! The East Cobb Avenue has been growing and adding good food options so we were excited for this to open. Since it's in the Avenue there's tons of parking available. They have a rooftop area but the weather wasn't permitting to sit up there. We ended up sitting at the sushi bar. The bar chairs were very comfortable. We just orders a few things to try. The miso soup was your typical miso soup. Very good but just your normal soup. The marinated baby octopus had amazing flavor! For me, seeing the whole octopus was a little much but that's a personal preference. Still yummy! We did two nigiri's, tuna and eel. Both were great. The quality of the fish seems to be high. We tried the Fantasy roll which had spicy tuna, salmon and yellowtail. It was a very nicely balanced roll! They had a great cocktail menu! I tried the lychee martini and the miso honey. Both were lovely! They had a number of fun looking drinks to try out! The woman next to us got an espresso martini that looked like perfection! The one small hiccup we had was our sushi order took a while. I'm not sure if the waiter forgot to put the order in or if the kitchen was backed up. Not a huge deal for us though! Delicious! Service was friendly and efficient both at the bar and after we sat at our table. The bar and wait staff are warm, friendly, and professional. We'll be repeat visitors for certain. Our food (apps, rolls, signatures +) was delicious, exactly as described on menu, and beautifully presented. We had a late lunch on the patio and everything was great! They have a pretty extensive menu, including lots of shareable dishes. We started with the hamachi serrano, with a nice citrus flavor. We also enjoyed two specialty rolls, Tenku on My Mind and Dragon King. Tenku on my mind had nice texture with crispy rice and dragon king was topped with whole eel. I thought the eel was a bit overpowering to the roll but still very good. Service was very good and attentive. Great first impression and can't wait to try more items! read more

I just went tonight and honestly, this place has a lot of potential--but I'd give it a little time since they just opened. The sushi was incredible--super fresh and full of flavor. We got the gyoza and ceviche (ceviche was good but really small), then ordered the Picasso and Tenku on My Mind rolls, and both were so good. The only issue was the service timing. It took about 40 minutes to get our sushi. We were fine at first, but when we wanted to order more, they told us it would be another 30+ minutes because they were short staffed. At that point, we just didn't want to wait and lose our appetite. The vibe is really nice, but for me service matters just as much as the food, especially with sushi. We ended up leaving still hungry, which was a bummer because I would've loved to keep ordering. read more

Fantastic sushi and even better service. I stopped in by myself and had an amazing experience from start to finish. The sushi was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Every bite was excellent. Especially the fried rice! A huge shoutout to Olivia M, who is honestly one of the best servers I've ever had. She was friendly, attentive, and made me feel welcome the entire time. She checked in at all the right times, had great recommendations, and genuinely seemed to care that I had a great experience. I have been here twice now. The first time was on opening night. There were quite a few hiccups (to be expected). We did not like how the staff did not know much about the items on the menu including the most basic appetizers. I ordered gyoza, and our waiter asked how many orders we wanted, "one or two?". I said "I think one. How many pieces come in it?" He responded with "I think one piece." I was so confused. I think he thought gyoza was a nigiri roll or something. I asked if their spicy tuna was minced or whole pieces. His response was something similar to "Our sushi is high quality." It was not an answer to the question. He didn't seem to know much about sushi or Japanese food in general. My boyfriend asked someone (I guess a busser) who we thought was our waiter originally what rolls they recommended and the answer was the lala land or fantasy. We then asked our waiter the same question and he gave the exact same scripted answer. I think staff should know what's on the menu and probably have tried most of the food to be able to properly answer questions about the food. All the food that landed on our table that first day was DELICIOUS besides the gyoza which arrived cold and had to be sent back. We also asked for a mezcal mule with vodka instead of mezcal. It was served to us with mezcal which both my boyfriend and I strongly dislike. When we told the waiter he got defensive instead of just fixing the issue. I ordered the wasabi martini which was interesting but good. The next time, I got the honey miso martini which was also yummy. The first visit, all the fish was extremely fresh. When we returned a couple of weeks later we got the fantasy roll again, a rainbow roll, and the rock & roll. We had to send back the rainbow roll, as the fish in it was VERY fishy and did not taste fresh at all. Their miso soup is good. Their ginger salad dressing was DELECTABLE the first time, but when we returned it was different and not as yummy. The first time, we sat inside the restaurant and it was FREEZING, but the ambiance was nice. I mean so cold that even with jackets on we had goosebumps the whole meal. Went there this evening for our anniversary. The meal was amazing. Calamari was the best we've ever had. Sushi was delicious. Service was perfect, (thank you Sada). The customer service here is bad. Waited 40 minutes for my food. Gave me six pieces per sushi roll that I ordered. Tried to fit it all in one box instead of putting it in two boxes and giving me my full order. Cut off the end pieces of the bubba gump so they could fit it in the small to go box, clearly we paid for that and I was really looking forward to that. The food was definitely prepared differently than the last time that we visited. It didn't look anyway near like what we had before. The food was mediocre and you can go to just about any sushi place down the road and get this. Instead of the manager, asking me how can he fix, he offered me like the worst moose dessert ever. Terrific! Both visits to Tenku in Marietta were lovely: delicious meal, great team, friendly service, and the beverage program is absolutely stellar. Vibe is great -- buzzy and fun, but not so loud as to impede table conversation. It is a fantastic and beautiful addition to the area.
