Honestly go somewhere else. It isn't worth it. We came here Mother's Day evening for our anniversary. We were seated with two other families. We ordered our food and...,.first off the waiter put in our order wrong, we did not receive three of the things we ordered. One half of the table were clearly regulars, a family of 5. They asked for a specific chef. The chef comes and sees them and tells them welcome back, then proceeds to start doing excessive customizations to their orders. Which is fine, but then he shorts the other half of the table. The family of five were all given triple rice while the other half of the table were given one serving of rice even though two of us ordered double. The family of 5 were treated like kings. The rest of us, what food we did get was overcooked, under seasoned, and barely portioned, except for veggies which we got more of because the family of 5 didn't want them. However it just.....felt very unfortunate to pay so much money only to leave with barely any food and without having received all we paid for, I won't be coming back again. Customer retention is important but it's nice to extend that attitude to new customers as well. I did call and speak to the manager to see if we were overcharged. He said no and I was going to let it go. Originally I wasn't going to write a review, but after we found the receipt and seeing we WERE charged for food we did not receive? This place was such surprise, in the best way! I was really craving sushi and hibachi and decided to try out Atami and it didn't disappoint. Even though it was just two of us sitting at the hibachi grill, the chef still put on a great show and we had a lot of fun. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. The whole experience was a disaster from start to finish. We waited 45 minutes for a table even though there were empty ones everywhere. When we finally sat down, our chef looked like he'd rather be anywhere else. He didn't do any of the cool tricks--no onion volcano, no shrimp toss, not even a smile. The food? Bland, overcooked, and greasy. My chicken tasted like rubber, the rice was swimming in oil, and the veggies were so soggy they could've been soup. The "yum yum sauce" was more like "no no sauce." We were really wanting Chinese but our favorite place was closed. Went here thinking we could do hibachi. We did get takeout which I understand can be tough to do with hibachi. That being said, they didn't give us one of our dishes and we had to make another trip out to get it. No apologies, free egg roll, nothing. We have been ordering delivery from Atami for years, but had never stepped foot inside the place. Well it's my birthday and we made a rare trip out to eat, and it was worth the wait! Our server, Renee, could not have been nicer or more accommodating. She understood that we were there specifically for the stuff we hadn't ordered/couldn't order for delivery. We started with a punch bowl cocktail for two. It was served in a Scorpion bowl with a ceramic volcano filled with 151 rum and set ablaze. It was kitschy and magnificent. Also pretty tasty, and not as strong as we were afraid it would be. For dinner we went with appetizers, since we'd had most of the sushi menu over the years (delivered). Highly recommend the tuna tartare! It was cool and tasty, served with four types of tobiko and a yuzu sauce. The presentation was really on point. We followed with pan-fried gyoza. We ordered Yellowtail and jalapeño, which as again presented beautifully with a ponzu sauce for dipping. Finally, we ordered the shrimp and vegetable tempura appetizer, and I am glad that we stopped there. All the food was fresh and well presented, and Renee was super helpful and patient as we gushed over the stuff. We don't get out often these days, so I guess we are at the same time really easily awed and yet also have fairly high standards. Atami more than met them. They also have a busy hibachi area and we were entertained by the chefs from a distance. Next time we go we are absolutely getting a sushi boat. Never had one. Bucket list. But the next time? I see an onion volcano in our future (assuming they do that). As a special bonus, Renee brought us a beautifully presented piece of chocolate cheesecake with a chocolate cookie crust. Went to this restaurant for lunch today. Ordered scallops, the smell arrived at the table before the plate was set down. I tried them - they were so "fishy" they were not edible. I explained they might want to taste before they serve this batch again-they offered a substitute however 20 minutes later the taste of that fish was a bit off as well. I left it all... paid my 20. So went here service was good. Waitress very attentive and friendly. The food was alright I had the Bison brisket with mash potatoes and carrots. The brisket was not flavorful it was very bland. The mashed potatoes had no flavor as well. If I ever visit again I know not to get that. The hubby got the cod fish sandwich and he said it had no flavor as well. We need some more seasoning cooks. Although it arrived late, the pancake was crispy and tasty as I imagined. For dinner, I decided on the chicken and scallop hibachi. This dinner for the six of us on New Year's Eve was amazing and very entertaining. All of us loved our seafood to steaks combinations. The fried rice had us all saying best we ever had. We also ordered two sushi rolls one amazing and the other so-so. The one negative that was shared cocktail bowl could have used a little more alcohol tasted more like a child's juice box. In the beginning, I thought Atami Grill and Sushi to be a classy, genuine brand that sought to bring fresh asian fusion fare to the people of Marietta. Unfortunately, this impression has been greatly disproven over the last few months working for this establishment. As a waitress of two years at the store located on Dallas Highway, I'd like to take the time to illustrate the ways Atami's management has deteriorated to a degree that it is now not only disingenuous to its customer base, but also cuts corners when it comes to the staff they employ. To begin, I would like to address the misconduct by Atami management towards their employee base. Firstly, management at Atami began instituting a "bus tax" which means sacrificing 15% of our serving tips on our most lucrative nights (Friday, Saturday) to the busboy and management, without prior consent or notification of said change. The bussboy gets paid a higher hourly than serving positions (we get about $2 an hour more or less, bussboy gets around $8-9 to the best of my knowledge and talking with my coworkers) and is not defined as a tipped position by Atami. Tips from tipped positions may not be given to non-tipped positions without employee consent. Atami's tip distribution does not follow legal tip pooling practices of the state of Georgia and violates the Fair Labor Standards Act. As soon as I noticed the disparity, I began looking for a new position (my new employer was incredulous at these policies when I described it to him). This issue leaves me short $200 more or less on my paycheck every month, which in turn means I struggle with monthly expenses, including groceries. I am a student who can only work weekends part time with rent to pay, and this job yields ~$400 every week. This would be enough if a portion of it wasn't stolen from me weekly. I have had to supplement my lost pay with driving for DoorDash while searching for a new position which means even less time for schoolwork and personal priorities. As of today, it is my impression that Atami owes me roughly $1600+ in stolen pay. Secondly, Atami "incentivizes" employees to not make mistakes by threatening to take additional tips from servers earnings if they forget to do something or have to be reminded (picture of policy description as defined by management attached). This is yet another branch of blatant misconduct for the same illegal reasons outlined above. An employer may not take any amount of a servers tips for any reason besides as a way to make up minimum wage disparities (According to Section 203(m) of the FLSA). I have also more than once caught my managers pointing and gossiping about me and other coworkers in Chinese amongst themselves, which I find unbelievably unprofessional and doesn't make for a comfortable or pleasant work environment. In addition to the issues illustrated above, it would be in the public's interest to know that Atami does mislead its customers by stating many of their ingredients are fresh or high quality. This is not entirely true, some are and some aren't. For example, the salmon is fresh but the tuna is frozen and so is the crab (example attached). Most hot appetizers come from a package, including the spring rolls, gyoza, and the new takoyaki appetizer. I have been told on several occasions by my managers to tell customers that food is fresh when questioned (despite seeing food come out of packages and fish pulled out to defrost every evening). Additionally, customers cannot be entirely sure the food on their plate has not touched the floor, as I on many occasions have seen vegetables, meats, and other foods get dropped, even stepped on, and thrown back on the chopping block without a second thought. Sometimes food will go bad and they will STILL use it, I just recently saw a chef putting BROWN mango into a roll, which was most likely expired (image attached). Hairnets/gloves are not used regularly in the kitchen, I only really see the bussboy use them. Atami only is careful about health protocols when they expect a visit from an inspector, and they are not constantly maintained. To the management: I am highly disappointed, as I attempted several times to address the misconduct occurring and yet was brushed off and ignored. I am frustrated and angry at the treatment I received as someone trying to make an honest living by offering you my skills. Overall, thank you to the lovely customers I've served here, you made working here the highlight of my weekends, and I hope I may be able to serve you at a nearby establishment in the future. TLDR; -Atami steals pay off the top from it's servers -Atami does not follow health protocols unless they suspect the watchful eye of an inspector -Atami asserts freshness with some ingredients that are NOT fresh -Atami serves dropped/potentially expired food to it's customers -Atami management is unprofessional and disregards complaints of mistreatment read more

Worked here a few years ago, they tried to pay me less than the legal minimum wage for tipped servers for my training period (which is $2.13, they literally tried to pay me less than $2.13 an hour). I had to threaten to contact the labor board to get a legal wage. At the time they also had the servers pool our tips and took a share from the pool. So yeah don't eat here, there are better options for sushi and hibachi from restraints that don't try to screw their employees out of every penny read more

If you're looking for a microwaved chicken patty on a plate next to a scoop of white rice masquerading as chicken katsu, this place has you covered. It's just sad. And not in the Cult 45 vermin supreme meaning of the word. I feel like this place used to be good. The people that work here are all very nice. I can't believe I paid 30 bucks for something so depressing. I did eat here somewhat close to the end of the night so perhaps it was phoned in like this season with the Lakers.
