Beth the manager is amazing she is very knowledgeable on the wines on and off the menu and willing to answer ANY questions about wine or the company or any other partnering wineries partnered with the company. The establishment creates a nice hybrid space giving the ambiance of a retail store and a tasting experience. We were the only party in attendance for most of the time. Jen, the sole employee at the time, was helpful, attentive and personable. (Note: we arrived around 4 on a Thursday, so we didn't expect it to be busy.) There was a really broad range of available wines of many different varieties. Being from another state, I was impressed to find that Michigan had so many styles to offer, even Cabs and Pinot Noir most often associated with lower latitudes. We went with the flight options giving us 3, 3oz pours for the price of a nice, full glass of wine. At the time, our table really enjoyed the oaked Chardonnay and a Malbec. We took advantage of the $5 coupon that comes with the flight by purchasing a few bottles when we left. Snack options were available. We enjoyed a baguette with some goat cream cheese. Another item was our first choice, but they were out. We also enjoyed the cashews. If you are looking for a full meal, lunch or dinner, you can order in from DoorDash -- the sky is the limit! Overall, enjoyable experience to share with friends and loved one! Overall rating - 3.75. (Note: it's hard for me to go 4 or higher just because this is missing the winery "feel." That has nothing to do with this place, but more my preference.)

The tasting includes five small serving size portions of five different wines of your choice that you want to taste. Sitting at the bar is a good option if you going solo. I really enjoyed this winery and it's now my favorite place to go for a quick night out.

Food & Wine: I really want to love St. Julian Winery - Troy,…read moreand there are good things here. The wine itself is... fine. I'm more of a dry-wine person, and honestly I probably only enjoy about 5% of the menu, but I will say the prices are great and the menu is huge. There's truly something for everyone, just maybe not for the dry crowd. I do appreciate that they offer snacks for purchase and the wine club is actually a great deal. Service: This is where it slipped for me. I've been to other St. Julian locations and had genuinely great experiences, so I know the bar is higher. Here, the service was just ok. The staff didn't seem very engaged and gave off more "going through the motions" than "happy to have you here." It felt like regulars got the warm treatment, while everyone else was kind of an afterthought, which was a bummer. Ambiance: It's always packed, which says something, but the space itself feels cold and a little warehouse-y. I really wish this location had that cozy, homey winery vibe the others do. The energy is busy but not welcoming, and the location doesn't help much either. If I could give one suggestion to the team, it'd be to soften the space and the experience a bit, warmer lighting, more interaction, something that makes people want to linger instead of just drink and leave. I know this place can be great, it just doesn't quite get there yet.

I ordered the BBQ Chicken Salad. The avocado was rock hard, the chicken tasted off, and there were visibly rotted pieces of lettuce mixed into the salad. I let our server know, and she agreed it "didn't look normal." She took it back and asked what I'd like instead. I ordered the Chicken Giardiniera. It didn't arrive until the rest of my party had already finished eating. I've had this dish here before, and this version wasn't anywhere near the quality I remembered. The server even brought me a to-go box without asking because, at that point, everyone else was done and ready to leave. When the bill came, the salad was removed, but I was charged full price for the replacement entrée--even though it was served so late that I barely had a chance to eat it. What was most disappointing wasn't the food itself, but how the situation was handled. There was no apology, no manager stopped by, and no effort to make things right. For the prices Cooper's Hawk charges, I'd expect much better food quality and customer service. Very disappointing experience, and after seeing the quality decline over multiple visits, I won't be returning.

If you live in Troy and have never been to the Troy Museum then shame on you! ;-)…read more The Troy Museum & Historic Village is a Mini-me version of Greenfield Village, but it's all about Troy. It has about ten historic structures, with plans to add two more after the purchase of the adjoining property. There isn't much of a museum in the main building, but most of the structures are from the 1800's and give you a feel for what life in rural Troy was like back then. The village consist of a log cabin (1840), a Greek Revival-style home (1865), a one room school house (Poppleton School 1877), a print shop, wagon shop, general store (1918), Old Troy Church (1837) and town hall building (1900). Information provided tells you where these structures were located in Troy. For example, the general store and the Old Troy Church were both originally located in Troy Corners (Livernois and Square Lake). Admission is free, but donation are gladly accepted. It doesn't take more than 45 minutes to view all the properties. Check out the websites for special events. You can even get married in the church and they rent out the gazebo in the center of the green for meetings, workshops and receptions. Take a step back in history and visit this quaint little museum. I knew I loved Troy for some reason!
