Pay attention to the fine print on this company's "Free 2 Day Shipping" on "Orders Over $50" promotion. I recently placed an order which totaled just over $275 and specifically ordered the items from this company because of the shipping promotion (I needed quick delivery as these items were birthday gifts...though the gifts will now arrive after the party). Upon checkout I was emailed an order confirmation which clearly promises "Ups 2nd Day" shipping at a cost of "$0.00." However, it wasn't until after the items actually shipped that I was notified I was getting standard UPS shipping rather than the 2nd Day shipping promised on my order confirmation. When I called customer service I was informed that one of the items did not meet the "actual or dimensional weight" limit of 7lbs detailed in the fine print of the shipping promotion. As I explained to the customer service rep, none of the items I ordered listed their weight, dimensional or otherwise, on their product description so it is impossible for customers to ascertain whether or not their orders qualify for the shipping promotion without actually calling customer service in advance to confirm. In fact, the shipping weight of the only "heavy" item that I purchased is listed at 5lbs on competing websites. Presumably the item exceeded some random dimensional weight calculation as defined by UPS but I have no idea. I understand the promotion restrictions but if items don't qualify for a shipping promotion then that should be highlighted during the checkout process...particularly if you don't even supply the information required on your website to confirm if an item fits the exclusions in the promotion's fine print or not. In my opinion, it's misleading at best to send an order confirmation promising 2nd day air shipping and then simply change that without notifying a customer in advance. In fairness to Tennis Express, the customer service rep I spoke to was polite and offered me a $10 coupon for future purchases. I did not accept the offer as I think it's more important that the company adopt a more transparent process which either (i) highlights shipping exclusions as part of the checkout process (I know other companies that will highlight when specific items don't qualify for shipping promotions for one reason or another) or (ii) notifies customers BEFORE changing their shipping method as I could have chosen to cancel the order or even pay more for shipping to get my items on the time frame I expected. read more

I usually don't post bad reviews but this was one of the worst online shopping experiences I've ever had. Tried to order a sports tutor ball machine and in their automated ordering system, it didn't charge me sales tax. I didn't think much about it since the order went through and I got a confirmation number in my email. About three weeks later, there was no shipping notification so I decided to call them, they said it should've been shipped out already and to check with the manufacturer since it's a drop ship order. I called the manufacturer and they said they hadn't even seen the order yet and I was not in their records. About five calls and about a month later, tennis express finally tells me they forgot to add sales tax to the order. Btw, at no point in the month that went by did they contact me about the sales tax issue or updated me about anything on my order. I had to call multiple times, many times just put on hold to then finally pay the sales tax and then they finally got the machine shipped out. They just didn't care about my order at all. Please avoid them at all possible and buy from another online option as it was one of the worst online shopping experiences for me. read more

Ordered a racquet online through them and they sent me a used one! There was no plastic wrap on the handle, light marking on the top frame and bits of ball fuzz lodged in the hoop! It was the last one they had in my grip size so I couldn't even exchange it for a new one. I feel like they were just trying to get rid of this last racquet and hoping that I wouldn't notice or just didn't care about that. Can't help but feel this was pretty shady and dishonest. I have always been happy with the MANY orders I have placed thru Tennis Express....until today. I ordered some items and selected "overnight shipping" which was $25. I got a notice on the day the items should have been delivered saying shipping was delayed and would not be arriving when promised. I contacted Tennis Express and spoke to James who told me that once it was shipped "they had done their part" and nothing would be done to reimburse my $25. When I attempted to speak to get my point across that I had paid Tennis Express for a guaranteed overnight delivery, not UPS, he kept over-talking me and would not listen to my side. I called back (after James hung up on me} and spoke to a different person who finally said they would give me a $10 gift card but the overnight fee would not be reimbursed. Not so; The original gift card balance is now $37.88 and my husband does not have a $50 gift card nor does he have a new pair of tennis shorts. I have order a new Prince Tour Diablo racquet from Tennis Express. The delivery is pretty speedy. When I unwrap the transparent plastic surrounding the handle bar the replacement grip ripped badly. Basically the replacement grip looks all torn. I contacted the company two days ago through a long distance phone call (they don't have a 800 number, I am okay with that) within their business hours and told the return department closed for the day. And I have to send an email to them. So I did with three photos of the racquet that evening. I call the company yesterday many times and was re-directed to vmail box every time. The return department did call me back when I called back no one answered the phone. I called the return department this morning still no one answered the phone. I called the customer service and told the return department has no one there until this afternoon. I asked the customer service department to see if they can experdize the return process and told I need to wait until the return dept folk until he get to work this afternoon. I did get a phone call few minutes later from a person to handle the issue. I was asked to resend the photos of the defect racquets again since she has no access to the return department email. The option I was given is they will send me a replacement grip. I told her that I never put on replacement grip myself and I know it is not as easy as to put on over-grip. So she told me I can have a pro shop to put it on for me for "FREE". So the option is, in summary, " we send you the replacement grip and figure it out yourself". A closest pro-shop if there is any to me is at least 30 min away. I asked her if they can speed up the process of sending the replacement grip. I was told they can only send it through usual ground transportation whatever it is. They can't speed up the process. Then she prompted another option for me. But I need to return my racquet first once they get the racquet they will send me a new racquet. I suggested they can charge me one the new racquet and credit back to me once they received they receive the return from me. I was given no as an answer because it is not the way their company handle the business. On the surface the company looks good as the other companies like tennis warehouse, Holibird. These two companies are awesome from the experiences I have in the past. You don't know a company until you have an issue like what I have with Tennis Epxpress. It could be as simple as "Sir, we will send a new racquet right away we will credit back to you once we get the return from you". Instead you are given "My way or highway" attitude. I know this company through tennis channel. It seems they put some money on commercial. In today's world customer's reviews are another big force to drive the success of a company. Few bad honest reviews from customers could ruin a lot of investment to TV commercial. Amazon, Costco has very good customer relationship management. That is why they are so successful in the internet-based business. My feeling is one star is too much for this company given the experiences I got. Trust me you will have tough time to deal with this company when there is issue. You just don't feel willingness of the staffs there to help you out. I had a $100 gift card that I used on Tennis Express website. My purchase was over $100 so I provided my credit card for the remainder. They double billed me using the gift card and charging the full amount to my credit card. It has been over a week and I've emailed and spoke to multiple people and they keep saying they will resolve it and they admit there error, but I still don't have my money back. I will now call the fraud department at my bank. Please use a different retailer. Also, items that I ordered ended up being out of stock but I wasn't made aware until after they were ordered. I've been their customer for several years. I recently experienced a fantastic buying experience, and I would like to share it with people who are considering to buy something from them. I saw an 'buy one get one free' deal during the week of Cyber Monday of Thanksgiving break. So I bought a reel of string, but the purchase process was somewhat confusing. So I left a message in the comment box, asking to make sure to put two reels at one price. After a couple of days, I received a box containing only one reel, without any note. I called them and the customer rep told me that "the string maker stopped making that string, so they put only one reel." ... Silence... . Is that all? Yes. That's not our fault. Wow, nice response. I asked to talk to the supervisor. The lady was more stubborn. "If you haven't used it, you can return it if you want." She told me that she would send me return label. Amazing combination of 3 pieces of works in this company. The person who packed the package should have raised this issue so that they could contact the customer before shipping the incomplete packet. Second, the customer rep should have been showing better responsibility to the customer. Last but not the least, the supervisor should have demonstrated accountability for the issue. She took care of the problem as well as possible and went above and beyond to stay in communication and make sure that I was happy. Tennis Express is fortunate to have Amber. Ordered an item on June 4th and received it quickly. Based on that I ordered an item on June 17. I never got an email confirmation so I called. I was told the item was on back order. I cancelled the item but never received a refund. Called three times and was assured I would be refunded my money. I currently have an open PayPal claim and still no refund. Nice people but too unorganized for online ordering. I ended up ordering two racquets from Florida instead of these guys because I was worried about having another problem. I am adding an update(July 7). Tennis Express has fixed the issue and has really reached out to me to mend the fences. As I said in my original post they are nice people. This is a great place to shop for Tennis merchandise. The staff is very knowledgeable and provide a great and excellent customer service. They have a racquet, shoe and apparel specialist in each department. They are knowledgeable and they provide what you want and need. You can buy and string your racquet at the same time while you shop. They have excellent demo program to try a racquet inside the store on the court and you can also check different racquets out. The cashiers are very friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. Also they have a great return policy. Overall a great place to shop. I definitely recommend it. 4 out of 5. read more

Couldn't order online, website couldn't complete order. Then, call in to customer service - language barriers, clearly staff training gaps, trouble processing simple requests (nothing streamlined). On separate transaction, when return of an item needed, website failed. The phone tree didn't work. Customer service contacted via email. Shipping label promised but not attached. Shoppers Beware of Tennis Express!!! Very poor execution and service. My experience was anything but "Express". I ordered a Lobster ball machine. It took 12 days to arrive. I received a drop ship confirmation that had no tracking number. I called Tennis "not" Express a couple times and the reps said "we will need to check with Armen, our buyer and get back to you". Needless to say that nobody that I Spoke to got back to me and I never did receive a tracking number. IT GETS MUCH WORSE, the machine finally arrived and the button to elevate or lower ball flight didn't work. I called Tennis "not" express and they said they would have someone get back to me and nobody did so I called again very irritated and I received a call from Lobster. Get this....after spending almost $1200 they said they will put a tech on the phone to help me try to fix it . YEP ......I paid $1200 to be a tennis ball machine mechanic. Anyway they agreed to pay for me to send it back (took the time and effort to repack and drop it at a FedEx location). Guess What.... they (Lobster) sent me another machine and.....yes...it had the same exact defect!!!! So 35 days later I have received 2 machines and neither works so I take the time and effort to return it again and tell Tennis "not so" Express that I want Them to issue me some sort of credit for my poor experience and the fact that everytime I call customer service at tennis express there is NO follow through and I have to call back not to mention the same with Lobster. Not to mention that I have wasted so much time repacking an resending ball machines. Tennis Express (Christian -the Supervisor- who also is very poor at follow up) said they can only give me a discount if I buy a Lobster machine again which I refused to because obviously their product and company are poor. So in the end Tennis "really not" Express does nothing but provide Extremely Poor service and their supplier Lobster does the same (Not sure who is worse). Today I called Christian who was supposed to get back to me and didn't about a machine at a discount and told him I just want my money back. So I got a call from Alec saying my refund would be granted. I subsequently received a refund credit via email. Praise the Lord!!!!! Now I will go buy from somebody more reputable. If you have 35 days to wait for faulty merchandise and horrible lack of regard for customer service, I highly recommend buying online through Tennis "the farthest thing from" Express. BEFORE YOU BUY HERE LOOK AT THE NUMBER OF "1" RATINGS AND READ THE NATURE OF THEM. THEY NEARLY ALL INVOLVE POOR PRODUCTS AS DELIVERED AND/OR POOR SERVICE. Ask yourself if any company should have this proportion of the worst possible rating. Based on other responses to their "1" ratings I expect some trite response to this review but at the end of the day just understand that their service is horrible and they don't stand behind the products that they market online. TennisExpress.com--Read the fine print--shipping is NOT free unless you spend more than $75. That "good deal" that you think you are getting turns bad really quickly. Shipping did not appear on the confirmation page--it wasn't until I received the confirmation email that they slipped the shipping charge on. Returns are not free either. And if you want to exchange, then you pay to and from shipping all over again! Customer service members are extremely hard to reach. I called numerous times, left a message as instructed (never returned), until live chat FINALLY (8 hour after first try) connected. I needn't have bothered--they didn't help me anyway. Don't buy anything from these folks. Tennis Warehouse has never treated me this way as a customer. They'll get my money, and they should get yours too! read more
