NIGHTMARE Not professional at all. I went there for an assessment of a bridge cement which I completely understand was broken badly, and the only solution was to put an implant, although as it was my birthday I needed a temporary solution they said come tomorrow we will do a cement 500 bucks it might last a few months maybe couple of years I arrived was numbed I asked for NO epinephrine anesthetics and after literally begging them they said ok. Because I get heart palpitations. They don't care. After being pinched and numbed the doctor said no we can't cement it, there is not enough structure to hold it. I responded I knew that but you said you can do it. Then they said we will cement it but it will now 900 hundred, out of desperation I said ok. Doctor Yamane got in and said it might not last? Maybe just a few days I even accepted it but....he wanted to work without my permission anesthesia with epinephrine when I clearly said NO so after that he did not want to do the job. His assistant was blaming me, when they literally wasted my time. They had me 3 days going without a clear understanding of how to do a good jib? Finally they said that they were hungry and the doctor has to go because he has a heart problem. A NIGHTMARE read more

After 6 years of not going to a dentist clinic because of a traumatic experience in a previous teeth whitening clinic somewhere in downtown , Today i decided to try again ,and im so thankful to all the staff here specially Gina , she was the one who did my xray and teeth cleaning. She was very gentle and nice to me. Also with dr Yamane i like how he checked on me while im in the middle of the cleaning. Had my first appt here last Wednesday and was VERY happy with the service. Terry was excellent and provided such thorough cleaning. I had not been to the dentist in over 3 years and hadn't had proper cleaning in probably 6. Because of this, I have very sensitive gums and she was careful and patient with me. However, I am docking 1 star due to the number of unnecessary x-rays that were taken. I think the assistant was new and could not get the right angles, and thus took about 5-6 more shots than she needed. I asked the front desk what the standard # of shots are needed and they said about 18, and she took roughly 23-25... not happy with that. Dr. Michael was very warm and welcoming. Dr. Yamane is the best dentist I ever been to. Period! I have had work done by fancy Beverly Hills dentists and Yamane tops them all. He may have a humble office but his quality of work is Elite Class. The best part is his human nature. He talks to you in his soothing voice that you forget that you are getting work done. Very calming experience. Oh! And he personally calls you the next day to see how you are doing and checking to see if there were any complications with the procedure. I hate the dentist. One of the biggest reasons is I dont trust them and they are so expensive. We dont have dental insurance so its cash payments for us. I went in today, first visit ever and it was incredibly pleasant. The staff was very kind and the vibe was comfortable. Dark hard wood floors, nice light green walls, soothing modern music, instead of the typical corporate vibe, white walls, etc. Cozy environment, appointment was on time and everyone welcomed me with a smile. I been looking a Dentist for a very long time and I found the ONE! This place is very relaxing and the people there are very nice too! Tentmakers Dentistry is a Christian based joint. Dr. Yamane is Christian and the coolest thing about him beside his gentle hands is that before he goes in for the kill he does a little prayer, which I think is awesome! Dr Yamane is an excellent dentist! As I am getting a bit older (and longer in the tooth) I am having issues with fillings and such. Dr Yamane has the lastest in equipment (in-chair x-rays going right to the computer, lasers, UV hardeners) and is very knowledgable. He tries hard, too - giving you sunglasses so the light doesn't bother you eyes, putting things on the ceiling so you have something to look at, soft music, and clean rooms. He isn't always pushing to complete everything all the time (face it, dentistry can get expensive) and is willing to work on my schedule. I can't recommend him any more highly! read more

I really would like this dentist to get all the business he can. It's a bit of a drive to his office for me as I live in Hollywood, but it is so worth it. Dr. Mike is by far the best dentist I've been to. When he's doing an procedure, he makes you feel comfortable and relaxed and constantly asks if you're doing okay. I was looking for a dentist within my area, it was kind of an emergency since my Wisdom Tooth was bothering me (a whole lot). I came on yelp to check out some review's and came across Dr. Yamane @ Tentmakers Dentistry. All the reviews said he was gentle, caring and not out to get your money. I called a few places got a few estimates since I was gonna pay out of pocket (no insurance). By far Dr. Yamane's office came in 1st place when it came down to answering questions over the phone and even the estimate over the phone was resonable compared to the few other office's I called. I decided on Dr. Yamane's office, they were able to fit me in the same day (Tuesday is there late day). I AM SO GLAD I DECIDED TO GO TO DR. YAMANE. He is everything and more the reviews make him out to be, very kind man, makes you feel at ease and comfortable told me exactly what he was doing as he was doing it. He was genuinely concerned about me feeling any pain. I've never had a Wisdom Tooth extracted before but I thought it would be painful... I felt ZERO pain even after the numbness went away, grant you that I do have pain killers but still... I havent felt any pain, I even had to ask him if the tooth was out already? LOL! He smiled and said, I guess if your asking its cause you didnt feel it... and then he showed me the bloody tooth, IT WAS OUT ALRIGHT! : - ) I could rave more about him but I dont want to get carried away, it was only my first experiance in that office, I'll be going back next week and then again in a few weeks.... (if I'm going back it only means he did an awesome job and prices were totally reasonable). His office is small not fancy, its cute, cozy and clean. And just to put the cherry on top of the sundae... I love this dentist office! It's a cute little mom and pop owned business, and they are so diligent and caring of their patients. Not only that, but the teeth cleaning by Terry was the BEST cleaning I've ever had. She makes sure to check in on you throughout the cleaning, and really gets in there! She's detailed oriented, and extremely careful. After I felt so much better about my teeth! I also went back to have fillings done and I was super impressed with the doctor's work (she's the daughter of the main doctor). I've had fillings done in the past several times and always left feeling like my bite was completely out of place because they didn't grind down the filling as much! Now it feels like my bite is the exact same!! I had to question if she actually did it lmao! That's how good it was! She also checked in on me several times, and made sure it was painless! SO I know that this is my 3rd review for Dr. Yamane but I just can't say enough about him. I went in yesterday for my root canal. Now I am a big CHICKEN when it comes to Dentists but Dr. Yamane was very kind and helped me relax. I barley felt the needles and there was barley any pain that night. He's the best. My family and I have been seeing him for over 20 years. He's extremely concerned about making your visit as comfortable as possible, and as painless as he can too. The office is low-key, relaxed. He's updated his equipment so that now all the Xrays are computerized, low radiation with instant images on the computer screen. And I can't say enough about the quality of his work, too (including follow-up phone calls). He can really work wonders and stands behind it. Very friendly and concerned staff too. Agree with the others - Dr. Yamane has been my dentist for 8-10 years now (can't remember exactly). He really cares about each of his patients and puts them before dollars. The staff is friendly, he does a very thorough job, and is honest. He never tries to sell you extra stuff you don't need unlike a lot of dentists out there. The equipment is modern, too. This is a place you can trust. Update on 3/9/12: by the way, there is a filtered review from 2/8/12 by someone named Isa. Perhaps Yelp thinks this is a ringer but I know for a fact it is a true review so if you are trying to decide about Dr. Yamane, please read that one as well. This has been a long time coming, I have been coming to Tentmakers Dentistry for more than 15 years and I have always had wonderful experience. Dr. Yamane and his team are great at what they do, my mom and my sister come here and we have had everything done from tooth extractions, braces, root canals, deep cleanings, teeth whitening, and of course the normal teeth cleaning and all have been pleasant.
