Overall, our visit went very well and relaxing weekend. The Bath house Soak and wrap was really amazing. the day I went the Temp of the Water from the spring was 123 degrees, my tub was 108 when I got in. You can add hotter or cooler water; to find you own comfort level. After 25 minutes you get out and they wrap you in a sheet and blanket with a wonderful cold wet towel around your head. Lifesaver there. Tim was great and made me feel very welcome. Okay here are my concerns and I hope they find a way to correct some 1. our room had a 3/4 inch gap under the door. So our pups werl overwhelmed by the the shadows and noise. 2. Communication of how things work a is not a strong suite. Like Oh I see you have appointments for the bath house. you will need to check in and pay here before you go. Or maybe you would like to pay for that service now while I'm charging you room. No Room charges are allowed. 3. Good and bad here. Good Portland Coffee Roasters for your in-room coffee. Bad. the coffee maker has to be moved into the bathroom to brew. There was no plug accessible from the table area. Oh and Isadoras restaurant at the golf course has awesome food Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We had a great weekend, and we will be back.

The pool is fine but can't compete with mineral baths in my opinion. It's definitely rustic but clean and charming. The bathhouse attendants are typically wonderful and truly guide me to a great, relaxing experience. I've enjoyed Carson for decades--it's grown but it's still charming, still rustic.

Just 50 mins away from Multnomah Falls; we decided to cross the Bridge Of The Gods into Washington! There was a $3 toll fee at the bridge (class 1 vehicle). The trail itself is pretty narrow at times, we had to pull off often to let others through from the opposite direction. The environment is lovely, beautiful trees and the wonderful sounds of rushing water. When you approach the falls it's pretty jaw-dropping. From a distance, peeking through the trees the anticipation of what's coming is energizing. Once you arrive there are large boulders and layers to climb around to get different views (warning, some spots slippery). Although you can't possibly see the top areas of the falls fully, what you get to see is simply gorgeous. A beautiful pool and forest surroundings, along with a waterfall of spectacular height with a plethora of refreshing spray...what more could you want?! I've taken in quite a few falls in the area and so far this one takes the cake. Definitely worth a trek to see in person, as pictures do not do it justice. Would LOVE to see this hike and falls snow-covered too!

The good: it's a beautiful building in a lovely location. The rooms are good size, and the balcony…read morehas plenty of space for both a cafe table with chairs. The building is spacious, airy, with an almost European, luxurious feel to it. If I were traveling with my children, I'd stay here rather than at Carson Hot Springs resort, because everything is under one roof, there's a lovely swimming facility, and plenty of sitting areas in nooks and corners to hang out in small groups, with no dashes across a rainy parking lot in the dark to get from room to pool. On the downside: the rooms with hot tubs overlook the parking lot. Granted, they're on the third floor... but there is absolutely NO privacy from people coming and going from the resort. This could be solved by providing a privacy screen and changing which side the tub cover rests on when open, but as it is... it's completely exposed. The bathroom is set up for handicapped visitors, which is very thoughtful - but the shower stall's fold down seat takes up a significant amount of space, and avoiding bumping into its sharp edges takes up a lot of the rest. The water pressure is not sufficient to thoroughly rinse long hair, so take a shower somewhere else. Not only did the pedestal-style sink have no counter space for a toothbrush or makeup, but there's no counter ANYWHERE in the bathroom, and no place to hang a hand towel at the sink! You have to drip across the tile floor (don't slip!) to the toilet to dry those hands. The toilet has no lid (ew, droplets from flushing), and the bathroom didn't have a fan. If you want to open the patio door for a bit of a breeze, be prepared for the wind to whistle under the door to the hall's inch-tall gap like there's a hurricane. A lot of light and noise comes under that door at night. Also, there's no USB ports for charging; bring your converter plugs. There was no alarm clock. The front desk staff is polite but distant. One gets the impression that you're interrupting something that was far more important to them when you're checking in. Final grades: A for ambiance and architecture, C for creature comfort, C for front desk attitude. If you want to go somewhere that feels elegant and can put up with some inconveniences, or are with a group and want group spaces, stay at Bonneville. If you want privacy, woodsy and homey feeling with a warm small-town hospitality welcome, stay at Carson Hot Springs.

Already a win. But the real stars of the show were the potatoes and kale. I don't know who was back there making those potatoes, but I hope they're having the best day of their life, because they made mine happy. The kale? Somehow both virtuous and delicious... which feels like a rare personality trait. The breakfast I got was simple but they were so kind in my request for cooking my eggs. I applaud and say thank you. What really made the stay, though, was the people. The two ladies who checked me in Friday morning deserve their own standing ovation. Kind, warm, accommodating... the kind of energy that makes you feel like you're exactly where you're supposed to be. The rest of the staff followed suit. Just genuinely good humans everywhere you turn. Even the barista was personable and friendly. The bed? Overall, it was one of those stays where everything just felt... easy. Peaceful, welcoming, and quietly magical. Would absolutely come back, for the vibes, the kindness, and yes... those potatoes. I'll see you soon Bonneville Hot Springs! I went with my daughter the other day and was saddened at how the newer management has let things down. The pro's: You can still get a soak and wrap in a private tub. You can still pay by the hour to use the pool. The lobby offers free tea, water, and coffee while you wait. Hotel room nightly rentals include unlimited use of the pool. Massages are available with advance booking. The resort has a restaurant up at the golf course. The con's: They have decided to do away with reservations and go by walk-in, first come first serve basis. The leads to a back-log, pile up situation. When you drive an hour or more to get there, the last thing you want is to discover you are going to have to wait a couple of hours and then have your reservation still be late by 20 minutes. The bath house staff are overwhelmed, probably due to understaffing. They kept us waiting for several minutes, after already being 20 minutes behind, while the one stressed out woman on duty raced around cleaning tubs, wrapping up folk who gad chosen the combo, re-filling tubs, handling laundry, checking people in. She then forgot me in my tub after my 25 minutes soak while she served others. After an hour and ten minutes I just climbed out. I never got my wrap. The massage technicians are varied in skill and approach. At my last massage, I ended up with a mediocre massage delivered by someone who seemed to have no more than a perfunctory knowledge of body mechanics and technique. At the price charged I expected more. The restaurant is pricey; also mediocre. You will do better at one of the few places in Carson--the cute coffee/sandwich joint with real food, or the brewpub. Or find the food cart at the end of town by the mill. The housekeepers do a good job on the rooms, which are very basic; overpriced for what they are. They discontinued "women identified only" hours at the pool, which were popular. I shared the pool with a group of Russian Old Believers once who are too modest for co-ed bathing. Its a big loss. --It doesn't make me happy to write this review. It makes me less happy to see how this once smooth running, accessible, local attraction has fallen into a sort of money making vacuum. Hopefully, its just a phase and they'll return to quality and service based values as once existed there.

We loved that most of the trail is shaded by trees, though enough sun still comes through that sunscreen is recommended. Definitely bring water. One of the coolest parts is that you can go up behind the waterfall, but be prepared to climb rocks to get there--it's not an easy walk-up-and-around situation. The hike is about 3.5-3.6 miles. There were a decent number of people there, but it never felt overwhelmingly crowded. Amenities include restrooms, picnic tables, an information kiosk, and dogs are allowed on leash. A $5 day pass, Northwest Forest Pass, or Interagency Pass is required from May 15 to October 1.

Tamanawas Falls is one of my favorite waterfalls I've seen in Oregon…read more I've hiked it twice now-- once this past summer with my cousin, and more recently, last week. The hike is about three and a half miles round trip, with about 600 feet in elevation gain. Some light scrambling is necessary to get up close to the waterfall. There is a decent sized parking area at the trail head. Parking is $5 or free with a valid recreation pass. The waterfall itself is a hundred foot tall curtain. While it's only about one third the size, the shape reminds me of Vernal Fall in Yosemite. The basalt underneath the waterfall is very pretty and interesting to examine. There were lots of yellow trees (in October) including maple and Tamarack. I've read that you can go behind this waterfall, but I did not, since I'm a chicken, and like to play it safe around water. The hike was a little harder than it sounds, but still definitely doable within a couple of hours. There are a few campgrounds nearby, including Sherwood, Pollalie, and Nottingham.

The cottage had two pillow top beds, and were supplied with quilts, blankets, pillows etc, all very nice and comfy. The prices range from $79 - $99 a night, and they made a deal with us for the 1st night since we were arriving so late & they probably wouldnt be able to rent it out otherwise (winter being the off season) Lots of stuff to do in the area. The cottages are located within a mile of the Columbia River, there is a steamboat cruise to go on, we visited Multanomah falls, Bonneville hot springs resort, Beacon Rock (the worlds 2nd largest rock) etc. They also have an espresso stand in the office. Great esspresso. Definately a cute little find and good rates.
