The host…read moreprovided clear and detailed instructions for how to access the property and left signs for reminders on site. They communicated really well from the start, when I booked the rental months in advance. And it's only a few minutes drive to town for groceries or other necessities. This specific dwelling is extremely private, simply surrounded by trees and nature. The parking space allowed for easy access to the treehouse entrance, and it was absolutely stunning inside. Plenty of seating options for lounging in the living area, as well as outdoors on the balcony. A kitchen with dishes and paper towels, we were able to put together a nice dinner on Saturday evening. There was also a firepit outside, but no cooking inside the treehouse, just a microwave. There were plenty of plush towels in the bathroom, and the bed in the loft was soft and comfy (a ladder leading to the upper level). They had an in-wall AC unit, central heating, as well as portable heaters and fans throughout, making it convenient to reach a comfortable temperature in any room. And they also offered board games such as scrabble, wine-opoly, and conversation starter card decks, which seem ideal for couples. We enjoyed TwoSome, a game where we win together or lose together. Seriously, this was a good one (though it was missing one card). Even though they don't offer wifi service here, we had no problems accessing the internet on our phones during our stay (T mobile). And it's only a 2-3 minute walk to the river, just over the train tracks, the area peaceful and gorgeous, with magnificent views, and the water a lovely temperature for swimming. I was enamored with the whole experience, and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and relaxing getaway.

If traveling in a large party (we had 6 people), this hotel had one room with 1 king and 2 queen beds, double sink outside the bathroom, 2 large flat screen TV's, microwave, fridge and small table and chairs in one entire room. Priced great too. 2. Hot free breakfast with beverage, made to order at the next door restaurant was included with our stay 3. Located near the Columbia River was a beautiful view and stroll in the morning 4. Indoor swimming pool here 5. Hotel had a text messaging system, where staff would periodically text me to see if me or my group had any needs or complaints. 6. No bed bugs, but a spider and a flying insect -wasn't enough to minus a star rating from me 7. Check-in and process was easy, quick and not a problem 8. Best location for multiple waterfalls within a reasonable, driving distance (Multnomah falls was about 20 minutes from here in the rain, Bridevail and Latourelle Falls aren't too far as well). Highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again, when/if in Cascade Locks again.

My boyfriend and I traveled to Cuba last June and it was an amazing experience that we could not have done on our own without Soltura. We truly felt it was an immersive experience and got to learn so much about the culture, people, and history. We met musicians, students, doctors, a small business owner, and more people in Cuba who truly make it what it is. The entire trip was wonderful from start to finish and Ian ("Yon" as pronounced by the Cuban people) left no details to chance. This experience was profound and life changing. Ian made so many special experiences possible for us. I loved learning about the art and culture of Havana through the expertise of the young and knowledgeable guides and docents. We were able to immerse ourselves in the lives and experiences of such a wide variety of people through the relationships Ian has built over the years. I especially loved learning about the Community Projects that enrich the lives of so many Cuban people. One of my favorite experiences was learning about and hearing the young talent in Mailan's Children's Choir and befriending Mailan and her lovely daughter, Alicia. I had so much fun traveling to Playa Zapata and Trinidad with the group. The snorkeling was the best I have ever done and we had so many hilarious and fun adventures with the group. Ian leads these tours with so much heart and dedication. There is not a question asked or subject mentioned that goes unnoticed. I really believe Ian is magic: whenever I asked about anything, somehow without any fuss, that thing would appear in front of me. Some favorite memories include drinking Canchacharas (yes....I can pronounce that correctly now) in Trinidad, our adventure to get the local honey (miel), doing the "Becca" dance at The Tropicana, and buying expensive aged rum at the gas station. The accomodations and restaurants are arranged with so much thought and detail. The casas were spotless and accommodating. Our experiences were too varied to detail here, but were all so terrific. I felt safe and comfortable for the entire trip. The small groups are really nice (max 10 people) and allow for a flexibility that I really enjoyed. I feel like I gained many special friends from this trip. Ian and Soltura Travel provide an incredible, fun, varied, and immersive Cuba experience. I recommend without reservation.

I would strongly NOT recommend the Columbia Gorge River House. The owner cancelled my reservation 7…read moreweeks prior to my stay and did NOT refund my money. The owner kept my $6000CAD falsely claiming I had asked her to cancel the reservation. I understand she was able to rent her house during my "cancelled stay" so she had effectively doubled up on her earnings! After a very stressful and anxious 10 week process, thankfully I was able to reclaim my money through VISA. The actions of the owner are reprehensible and causes one to question how many others she has done this to.
