I also enjoy the kitchen apps and entrées- the miso eggplant and agedashi tofu are great appetizers. The salmon teriyaki is always perfectly cooked and accompanied by fresh vegetables. As other reviewers have mentioned- the construction of the rolls can suffer at times- for me this usually looks like 1 at most 2 pieces losing their integrity when I pick them up. My friends and I agree that this is Riverdale, not A sushi hotspot desitation and we would rather sacrifice a point on the physical construction /proper sushi technique than go somewhere else that has beautiful perfectly rolled sushi- with less fresh fish or rolls that are more rice than filling. Also- the sushi IS good! I usually go for salmon, tuna and a sweet potato tempura roll The lunch specials (monday-saturday until 3:15 pm) are a really good deal and come with pretty good miso soup and a fresh side salad. I am appreciative that they run a little later in the day as well. Aoyu has always been very reasonable abt modifications- there is no upcharge for brown rice for lunch bento- easy to request veggie instead of pork gyoza, and I really don't like crab- imitation or otherwise- so they always let me sub a cucumber avocado roll instead. Thanks for being such a great restaurant in riverdale Aoyu!

Everything from sushi sets to omakase, ramen, rolls, soup dumplings and other well-known Japanese dishes. Generous portions at a decent price. It is sushi after all. The staff is attentive and the service is excellent. Good for lunch, dinner or take out. The intimate atmosphere makes it a nice place to take a date as well...

People were friendly. 5/5 Went with their anniversary promotional Omakase. It was good. The albacore and miso cod the were most memorable. Felt the most complete with their respective toppings. Some of the other nigiri and their toppings fell a bit flat--i.e. tuna with grated ginger and salmon with lime. Arguably classic pairings but the toppings felt a bit watered down. Didn't taste the same depth/complexity of flavors with the fish as I've tasted in other Omakase experiences. 4/5 Overall I'll give a 5 considering the entire experience.

The fish was great, and we got to try a lot of different fish. In my opinion, there is a little too much focus on the sauce or flavor that is added to the fish; there were some interesting combinations, but I personally like it more when the fish can speak for itself. I recommend also going for the whisky ice cream at the end. It's unique and was a nice way to end the meal. We had to flag down our waiter for additional drinks, one of which he accidentally forgot until we reminded him, but it wasn't too big of a deal.

The roll pictured is the Indiana roll with salmon skin inside and eel/avocado on top - very tasty. After visiting regularly, I've come to know the wonderful people who run it--with professionalism, warmth, and consistency. A quick disclaimer: I'm recommending Kiraku based on a personal preference for sushi that honors traditional preparation--clean, balanced, and free from excessive sauces or unnecessary embellishments. I've been to highly rated sushi spots where every piece is smothered in sugary, multi-ingredient sauces, masking the flavor of the fish and turning the experience into something overly rich and far from authentic. Kiraku stands apart. Their sushi is beautifully restrained--great-quality fish, well-prepared rice, and flavors that are distinct and harmonious. For those who enjoy bolder options, there are a few heavier sauce-based rolls on the menu. But for me, the real strength of Kiraku lies in its refined, minimalist approach. If you appreciate true sushi craftsmanship, this place is a hidden neighborhood gem with extremely good pricing for the quality you're getting.

The drinks were good, the food was good, and the vibe was exactly what I've come to expect from them. But let me tell you about what happened after. When I got home, I didn't realize that I had left my sunglasses on the table. The next morning, when I couldn't find them, I figured that must be where I left them. I reached out to the restaurant, but honestly, in my heart I thought there was no way I'd ever see them again. Well... I was completely wrong. I received a response, and America (I hope I spelled her name correctly!) found them and held them for me until I could pick them up. Yes, the sunglasses were brand name, but to me it's the honesty and loyalty that really speaks volumes. That kind of integrity says a lot about a place and the people who work there. I'm incredibly thankful--and it's just another reason I'll keep coming back.

The staff were so sweet and let us keep the extra rolls for free so I couldn't complain even if I wanted to (and I did b/c there was an error on the bill but I didn't wanna seem ungrateful lol) A total of 7 rolls and good vibes were worth it. I wish I remembered the servers name, she was sweet.
