I have been to Terra Spa several times for microneedling with Anastasiya. She has done a fantastic job reducing the melasma on my face to produce a more uniform coloring and texture. I had a previous treatment in Boston and my experience with Anastasiya has produced better results with less pain and skin irritation. She is very knowledgeable about skin and cosmetic procedures. I go out of my way to get my microneedling with Anastasiya- it often takes me an hour to drive there- but it's worth it have the treatment from someone knowledgeable, professional and experienced. read more

I have been here twice - once for a facial and once for a back facial. This spa is not put together. It is not relaxing, the rooms are incredibly small. My 60 minute facial lacked any kind of massage component (standard at other spas). They gave me an orange felt neck pillow to put my face into during my back facial. I asked if it was sanitized (I assumed not) and they simply put a towel over it. I am not sure why they do not utilize a basic massage table with a head cradle for back facials. I will not be back. It was not a relaxing experience at all! They cancelled my last appointment (apparently my aesthetician was stuck in Europe), just 10 days prior to my wedding. I prepaid and asked for a refund.... I bought a Groupon here before and had wonderful massages and facials. Ashley is no longer at Terra and she was a wonderful esthetician. I bought a set of 3 facials and 3 massages from Groupon not knowing that Ashley was gone from the facials. The new person is good but she said that mask is extra which it wasn't before. The massage therapist, Alex is great. Super friendly and has great hands to work out my knots. Only thing I dislike is that I leave there super oily. Bought a groupon for a microdermabrasion and chemical peel. Had a great experience with Cindy who was very nice and knowledgeable. It was my first time having one of these treatments done. I had a day off and wanted to try something new. After this experience, I think I will definitely come back! My skin feels nice and soft and already looks a little brighter. From start to finish it was absolutely an amazing experience. Traveling is tough and sometimes the only cure is a massage. In search of a great place to get a massage I ended up at Terra. I had been on yelp for probably an hour reading reviews before deciding on this spot. Upon entering I was greeted by a very friendly receptionist named Noel, she took my coat and offered water. Walking me back to where the massage would be I asked about getting a trim, I figured why not go ahead while I'm here. She got Armando to take a look at my hair so we could decide whether to go before or after the massage, we decided after since they were concerned of the massage oils ruining the hairdo after. Noel had already let Gabby the masseuse know before my arrival what I was looking for in a massage. The massage was absolutely wonderful, the very best I have ever had. Gabby was gentle and soothing but was not afraid to put some pressure on when it was needed. I must mention that she had the softest hands I have ever felt. The room was calm and peaceful, the aromatherapy was amazing. The lighting was perfect and I really enjoyed the music it definitely helped me to relax. I feel so much better, it didn't just feels like a massage it truly felt like therapy. (There are so many small touches that I don't have time to mention but deserve mad props.) After my massage finished I was guided over to Armando. Armando had previously looked at my hair and we had decided to go ahead with a full cut. He was energetic, confident in his skill and excited. Armando made me feel like a million bucks before he even started on my hair complimenting my hair type and face. The wash was amazing, a mini head massage from heaven. Armando did excellent on the cut but one thing that stood out to me was that he said "you cut for the face." So many times I've gotten a cut that just didn't seem exactly right that I've started looking for styles on people of similar facial structure. With Armando that isn't necessary, I didn't even need to show him a photo. This cut suits me so well I only wish I was local so I could return. Armando went above and beyond making me feel special and important. At one point I felt that his concierge level of service was going to cost me hundreds of dollars. Lol. He called a restaurant to help make a reservation for my husband and I since I don't know many places in the area. I am really looking forward to dining on some authentic Italian cuisine this evening per his recommendation but I am most looking forward to showing my new haircut to everyone back in Texas. read more

Oookay. So, honestly I appreciate people who take time to leave reviews because that's how I make a lot of my Yelp decisions. I'm not a regular reviewer but felt the need to review this place after a very "meh" experience. Came in (new to facials), I was super excited for my first facial, like a kid during x-mas really. My apt. was early, walked in, everything seemed nice. Went into the room and it was really small but cute, don't mind the size of a place, it's the service that matters. The girl sat down at the head of the massage table, tells me to pull back my own sheets and starts on my face (no name intro, no mention of what she was doing to my face (that's something you should at least do for newbies) and nothing to protect my hair/edges from the products. Idk if the silent treatment is the norm, if it is, it shouldn't apply to new spa goers. It was just awkward and I should have spent my money elsewhere. The only reason I know her name is Ashley is because when paying I asked "and you are?". I recently went here to get a facial with Anastasia. I'm not going to lie it was my first facial in maybe 6-7 years . She meticulously took out every blackhead that had made a home on my face over the years. My pores have never looked so clean. I told her I wanted to relax so she spent a few extra minutes just massaging my face and neck. If you feel chatty she'll chat but if you just want to relax she'll keep the chatting to a minimum. I got my first massage at Terra Spa this weekend and all that I can say is that I will definitely be going back. I had Adam who is amazing! I've danced almost all my life and just started a new dance form this year which has been especially taxing on my body. Due to the new dance regimen coupled with all my desk-sitting at work, I needed a good deep tissue massage on my shoulders and back. Adam and I talked about what I wanted to focus on and what type of massage I wanted before starting and he knew exactly what to do to tackle my shoulder pain. Whenever I felt any pain he would remind me to breathe and always kept me laughing with his great stories. He worked through the knots in my shoulders while taking more of a relaxation approach with my arms and legs. He even gave me recommendations on acupuncture specialists in the area. Overall, Adam was great and I would definitely recommend him to my family and friends. I used a Groupon at Terra Aveda, but definitely think that the service is very much worth it at full price too. It hurt so good. I hadn't had a facial since last summer when I was getting one once a month in preparation for my wedding. But things have changed, and so has my face. (Beware: graphic descriptions) I had this monster, volcano of a blackhead I wanted to get rid of, and I sat in front of my computer every morning, eagerly awaiting a decent coupon on BuyWithMe.com or Groupon.com for a facial. Last week, my patience was rewarded. $30 for a facial at Terra Spa ("An Aveda Concept Salon")! (Full price for a signature facial is $75) I saw Lauren today, and she started by asking me what I was looking for. I told her about the Monster, and she knew just what to do. A few lotions/creams/something were spread over my face, and then came that warm mist to open up my clogged pores. And then, the extraction. The pain. I was pretty impressed with her persistence with the Monster. It was really stubborn, but she did get most of it out -- SO. SATISFYING! I never understood why massages go hand-in-hand with facials, but I guess since they do, I should review that part, too. It was a bit weak, I have to say, and I would've enjoyed it more if she dug in a little deeper. But at least it was still soothing, and the lotion smelled great. She didn't push products on me, even when I asked about a couple of them. I know this is big for some of you facialphiles. No pressure to buy anything or to get more services done. She did ask me if I wanted a peel or a waxing, but when I declined, that was it. As Nicole is no longer with Terra Spa, I wanted to rave about the wonderful massage that I received today from Karen. Every masseuse is different, so you always know that you can expect a different experience every time -- and this is part of the joy of massage. Karen targeted my problem areas with great precision, concentrating on the back of my head, temples, shoulders, neck, and lower back. Her signature is the hot towel -- one on each foot, and then at the end on the upper and lower back. I brought along a Norah Jones CD to see if the spa would be willing to play it in my room. They were very accommodating and I realized as I was leaving that my music took over the entire spa! For all they knew, it could have been Metallica :) So I welcome Karen to Terra Spa with open arms; she's very soft spoken, gives good advice, and provides an extremely relaxing and nurturing experience. I bought a Groupon for a massage here and booked an appointment weeks in advance. A couple days before my appointment they called to confirm it. So far so good. I planned my day around this appointment and took time off from work, looking forward to my relaxing massage. I arrived promptly 5 minutes before my appointment only to find they had given my time TO A WALK-IN who was already now having her massage. They admitted it was their mistake and offered to let me wait an hour until she was done. I didn't have time to do that, so I left. My negative rating is not for the service, since I didn't have it, although I heard Adam is an amazingly great massage therapist. But the booking process needs some serious improvement! read more

I went in for a wax of, how shall we say, the tenderest of tender parts. My experience was very mixed and overall I would caution anyone who is seeking to have the same kind of grooming done. So first the good: I had a Groupon, so the price was very reasonable ($40). They were pleasant and polite on the phone and in person. And they fit me in for an appointment quickly. As for the bad... The waxing was done in a way that left me with serious, slow-healing skin damage in places I'd rather not discuss. I was in a lot of pain the first 24 hours. This has never happened to me from a waxing appointment before and I hope it never will again. If you've got tough skin and a will of iron, you may want to give them a whirl for waxing other regions. After a three week trip in China I was looking forward to a relaxing massage but didn't happen.... I went to Terra Spa as I purchased a Groupon and had to use it before it expired. I would say KJ was a sweet guy and made me feel really comfortable but he lacked the precision it takes to give a good massage. Atmosphere: The room was really nice but not enough room for KJ to move around. The music was great as well as the aroma that was placed in the room prior. Service: I was about 15 mins late due to me going to the wrong spa. I arrived and was introduced to KJ so that he could proceed with my massage. First he couldn't find his oil or was out, he didn't know which one it was. I figure if I'm late, that he would already have everything together so we could get started promptly upon my arrival. The massage itself wasn't that great as I didn't really feel like he massaged me well enough to enjoy. Finally, at the end he just left the room. No, "I'm done, take your time," or "I'll set, enjoy your day." So I was waiting there wondering if he was going to come back! Also, I know I was 15 mins late but that doesn't mean take 15 mins off my massage. I paid for a 1 hour massage and received a 45 min massage. Overall: I would say skip the Groupon and go somewhere you know that you'll enjoy. Hopefully I can save you the trip and you will go else where.. read more

Just got back from my 2nd massage at Terra Spa - WOW, do I feel like a new person. The first massage I had at Terra was a few months back with Gabby. She was great - warm, personable, calming. If you are looking for a relaxing massage with healing energy she should be your pick. Today's massage was with Adam. What a difference there is between the two therapists' styles! By way of background, I am super active and had a long career as a dancer/gymnast/cheerleader so I have a lot of manageable pain in my body. I told Adam all this, and told him that I was not delicate so he could go through whatever lengths necessary to work the tension and knots out. Adam was phenomenal... it hurt, but it hurt so good! He was able to alleviate a lot of tension in my forearms from typing (I work for a tech company) as well as get in deep into my shoulder blades and neck. You really can't go wrong with option of therapist at Terra Spa. If you are looking to relax - go Gabby. If you're looking for some deep tissue work - go Adam. Either way, I'll be back! read more

Anastasia is an amazing esthetician. I did a microdermabrasion and facial and my skin has appeared brighter, my white heads have dramatically decreased, and I altogether feel better about my skin. She was also very informative. I really enjoyed how she explained what she was doing and was super gentle. Overall, I had the best experience. I left there feeling so calm and happy. ** WARNING: DO NOT GET A BRAZILIAN HERE ** I AM NOW BADLY BRUISED. I have been getting brazilians for 10 years and have NEVER bruised, nor have I experience a horror like this. The waxer said "bruising is normal." I strongly disagree. I cried in my car for 10 minutes after the appointment because the waxing was traumatizing and I was still in pain. And keep in mind, I regularly get brazilians and am very familiar with a normal pain threshold (they are never comfortable but this was unbearable). The waxer spent nearly an hour trying to rip my hair out with mesclun strips that left stringy residue all over my area- but that was hardly the worst of it. She put so much wax on the inner sensitive location that I has to ask her to stop because it was raw. I purchased the groupon for this location because of price and close proximity to my home. I asked if the girl in the past (don't remember her name) was going to give me a facial and I was told that the girl who signed me in was doing the facial that they were under new ownership. The facial was nice, as were the products she used. Then I got home and looked at my skin! Broken skin on my cheek, red marks all over my face, I have a black mark over my eye (to be honest the Kate told me it was a blackhead that she couldn't extract all of it, which now is so sore and large), My chin is in broken out. Easy to schedule my appointment. Walked into a salon and then a hallway leads to the spa. The place looks nice I was treated by Ashley she was nice and didn't talk too much during the facial which i found very relaxing. I received the signature facial she even customized a mask for my skin needs and the massage part was great. The only downside I wished there was more extraction, as an esthetician myself I know it was just mimicking and not a real extraction. I do recommend this place for a nice relaxing facial. Located in downtown Dedham and five minutes from legacy place makes it the perfect spot for me. Kamila takes immense care to my lashes and every time I leave I am beyond content. I HIGHLY recommend Kamila not only as a lash esthetician but as a my own personal therapist. She lets me rant about my crazy life. I use to go to a lash place in Sudbury, MA but felt I was paying too much for spider looking lashes. Every time I left that place my lashes looked different- they never looked the same. Had a great experience - so much so that I decided to sign up for Yelp and write my 1st review! I originally tried to book earlier in the week for this Saturday but they were fully booked. They did take down my name and number to put me on a wait list. Molly called me Saturday morning and said they had a cancellation and could fit me in. I was thrilled and impressed that they actually called me back to give me the appointment I wanted. I had a facial and massage done. Both were glorious after the stress of Christmas and New Year's. The massage was one of the best I've had. I like them to get the knots out but I also like to actually enjoy my massage and not be in pain. This massage was that perfect combo. The facial was also a homerun. I broke out during the month of December between the cold air and stress from the holidays. It's now been a few days and I am definitely seeing an improvement in my complexion. There is a glow there that I've not had since summer. I've had a couple horrible facials in the past that caused me to majorly breakout after and almost had me in tears during the process. This one was extremely pleasant. Lauren used a variety of lotions/exfoliants that smelled great and she was gentle yet definitely worked on my problem areas (forehead & chin) as she did the facial. We did have a brief consult prior to her starting. She was sweet as can be and definitely knew what I was looking to get out of the facial. All in all, the whole experience made my entire Saturday. I am more than disappointed with my idea to come to this place. I bought a groupon for eyelash extensions and made an appointment over 2 weeks ago. They called to confirm Thursday the 13th. I was all set to go for Friday the 14th at 1:30. Then around 11 on that friday I got a call that they needed to cancel my appointment because "the girl before me couldnt come in at her time"... whatever that means. I recently purchased a Groupon for Terra Spa based on a couple friends local to Dedham who recommended/raved about it as well as an itching to get pampered but on a post Christmas budget. Groupon + lovely spa = happy me. I easily made an appointment for a facial. Receptionist was very sweet and booked my appointment with Lauren. When I arrived at the spa, I instantly felt at ease. The decor is lovely and the atmosphere is relaxing. Reception offered me coffee/water/tea while I waited. The owner also popped in to ask how I was doing and to let me know if I needed anything to let him know. It's so rare to ever see the actual owner of a spa so to actually have him come up and shake my hand made the experience feel that much more special. Facial time = FABULOUS. Lauren was fantastic and welcoming. Immediately asked about my skin history and where my problems area were. I always get a bit nervous because I've broken out before from facials because my skin is so sensitive but she put me at ease that she would not be too rough. She was being honest - the facial was very gentle and I have to admit I almost fell asleep Lauren relaxed me so much. It's been several days now and I have a nice rosy glow and no breakout at all. I am planning to book with Lauren again before Valentine's Day when I have a bit of money saved. Would definitely recommend Terra Spa to friends and family. read more

I had also bought a Buy With Me coupon for Terra Spa for my husband. I'd called in July and was told that the earliest appointment wasn't until early September. That was my first clue that something was amiss with this establishment. But since I was stuck with the coupon I went ahead and booked it. Then my husband hurt his back and was advised by his doctor to reschedule the massage. I called and was told that they were completely booked and needed to place me on the waiting list. I asked them what would happen if I couldn't get an appointment before the expiration date and was told that they were looking into hiring a new masseuse because of high demand but if that didn't happen then they would probably do something to compensate me. Well, I called them two times before the expiration date just to make sure that they would honor the coupon and they didn't call me back. I called them again today because I saw that they were offering another deal on Groupon. This spa cannot meet the demands of those who bought on Buy With Me due to understaffing and now, as of this morning, they had over 600 people who bought on Groupon! I contacted Buy with Me and they gave me a credit. I'm so relieved! I really don't think that Terra Spa ever intended to honor my coupon, otherwise they would answer their phones! Love! Had a 60 minute massage by Adam. I spend 1/2 my days on my feet, 1/2 on the computer so I need work on legs and shoulders. Adam went DEEP in both areas, using breathing technique (think yoga breathing) to get me to stretch as he worked the knots. I work in the beauty industry, and as many of us do, I put off treating myself. So I was on Groupon, and came across two deals. One for a signature facial and one for a massage, I got one of each. I called yesterday and got my appointment today. I just left and I have to say that it was worth it! Katie was so down to earth and gave the most delightful facial. She listened to my concerns and gave a suggestion on an extra treatment (which I got) to help my dry skin. She was also my favorite kind of estheticians....all about those extractions! She told me my skin was dry and was keeping a lot of the impurities trapped. She worked her magic and now my skin feels hydrated! I got passed over to Gabby for a massage after. She was one of the few massage therapist that I got me so relaxed that I slept. I asked for her to focus on back, arms, shoulders and feet. She did so with the right amount of pressure and effleurage. The music playing in both rooms was soothing and helped me relax a little bit more. And the spa area was clean quiet and very welcoming. When I called to schedule an appointment for them a woman picked up the phone and put me on hold I waited for 10 minutes then hung up an called back only to be answered by a answering machine. I called again and the answering machine once again. Just this experience turned me away. I have no idea how Terra Spa services are but the customer service alone deserves the 1 star or less.
