In coming here for an initial cleaning and exam, I noticed a lot of differences from my usual Dallas dentist. One, they don't use a different polish on veneers than on regular teeth (which my previous dentist did). Two, the tech who worked on my teeth was rough, especially on the gum line around my veneer. And three, while the office design was nice, the technology they used for the cleaning was a bit old-school (dated). I'm just used to a practice that uses newer forms of cleaning and polishing procedure. As I was private pay, the total was $250+, which is highway robbery for a simple cleaning. I go every few months, so my teeth are almost always never a problem. I was in and out in 30-40 minutes. The cost didn't come anywhere near equating to the experience. My search for a dentist in SA continues.

My father was military, I went to Cole, so of course, we were seen across the street! Fast forward to the summer. I am a college student with Tricare Young Adult Prime. Dr Westerberg extracted all four of my wisdom teeth and I opted for the sedative. The procedure went very smoothly. Here is the trouble, the office charged Tricare $1400. Of course right? Why not charge an insurance company the full of amount possible? I paid the out of pocket expense of $500. To my unfortunate knowledge, I lost my dental coverage because of my age. My balance was around 900. I had asked if there was anyway possible that I could get a discount for paying all cash for the remaining balance. The office manager only offered my 5%. 5%??!?! The average cost for a single tooth extraction is 150 per tooth. That's a 600 procedure. I was charged $350 per tooth. I explained to the office manager that I was a unemployed college student in my senior year , my father just had a heart attack, can not work, and just retired after serving 23 years in the army . . . basically that I am a broke college student with a copious amount of student loans. I told her that my family and I had been loyal customers and that I needed honest help because the money would come from my account for school books. The most Westerberg was willing to discount me was 10% . . . .and that was off the balance I already had, NOT the total amount charged to the INSURANCE COMPANY. It just really frustrates me that a dentist office would treat a loyal patient that way. A doctor has the option to not charge anything or offer work at a discount! Insurance companies have corrupted America and the hearts of practitioners and this a prime example. If you get the chance to read this, I hope the office staff knows that they not only lost a loyal customer, but also a family, and a copious amounts of potential clients. Trust me, I am in PR and I definitely know how the market operates. And, if you are considering getting work here, I do not have the right to criticize the work of Dr. Westerberg and his staff, but his ability to uphold any ethical standard and sympathy for his patients.

Informed orthodontist a tooth #3 molar was painful but they "didn't see anything." Went to specialist who said he never seen a crack straight down middle of a molar like mine. I kept telling orthodontist I was in pain at that tooth. Pain so severe had to get braces removed early. This decision seemed to make the orthodontist upset. Later, specialist stated the Crack in tooth was so severe no root canal could be done. Had to get tooth pulled. Now need implant. Thousands of dollars later. I should have listened to my sister and not got braces. All I wanted was a front tooth gap closed. Big mistake. When I complained about my tooth and braces hurting severely, everyone there got rude. I'm currently going elsewhere for an Invisalign with no problem.

I hope this matter can be resolved soon, as the lack of communication has unnecessarily delayed the processing of my claim.
