He came out a few days later and did an AMAZING job. Located the valve boxes, did the repairs, gave helpful information about the issues/repairs. Honest and good pricing. Then I went to turn on my sprinklers so they would have some water while I waited and found my sprinkler control panel was a mess and resetting it didn't fix the problem. I told On The Spot Sprinkler Repair about this and they recommended I got an inexpensive replacement sprinkler control system from Amazon which then arrived the same day. I told the repair service that I was now in a bit of a rush since I went from maintenance needs to a completely broken system, and they squeezed me in the next day which was EXTREMELY nice of them! Oh, and it turns out that my sprinklers were fine after the winter, I just had a busted control system -- perhaps from an electrical surge so I am now protecting the system with a UPS/surge protector setup. (I had an old UPS that I was going to throw away but it had plenty of juice left in it for such a little control system.) All communications with them were very fast and professional and On The Spot Sprinkler Repair was very knowledgeable which is not always the case with repair people.

I hired Kaden for a small landscaping project along with deck repairs and staining. On Nextdoor, he…read moreadvertised himself as an expert in landscaping and deck design, with polished photos that suggested an experienced professional. Based on that, I expected someone with ample experience with projects like mine. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Kaden is very personable and communicates well initially, but it quickly became clear he didn't have the knowledge or skills to handle the landscaping portion. I felt pressured to research plants and layout options myself just to keep the project moving, and I didn't have time to do that immediately. Because of this, we removed landscaping from the contract altogether. I had already paid half of the total upfront, but I wasn't concerned because I assumed that money would be applied to the deck project. Once the deck work began, things got significantly worse. Kaden often showed up late in the afternoon and did most of the work in the dark. The work was sloppy and unfinished, yet he repeatedly asked for payment before the job was complete. Despite some personal challenges he shared with me (and to which I responded with empathy and even a monetary gift card), I was not willing to pay for incomplete or poor-quality work. As issues kept piling up, I brought in another licensed contractor I've worked with before. He confirmed there were major problems, including: - uneven, splintering boards cut unsafely - boards not fully secured - improper screws and installation methods - stain applied incorrectly and in the wrong conditions - large missed areas and sloppy coverage - stain damage to my siding and outdoor furniture - a "repaired" gate that is barely functional and looks worse than before The second contractor told me the deck "basically needs to be started over." Only after I pointed out the issues did Kaden admit that this was his "first time" (at least staining -- possibly more). This was especially concerning because the polished photos he used in his Nextdoor advertisement clearly do not match the quality or experience level demonstrated on my project. That misrepresentation heavily influenced my decision to end the contract. In total, I paid him $1,375--more than half of the original contract--and now have to pay another professional to fix and completely redo the work. My deck is currently in worse shape than when we started, with safety hazards for my child and visible damage to my property. The project will now cost significantly more to repair. Since ending the contract, I've learned that other homeowners have had similar experiences and that he has been taken to small claims court before. I wish I had known that before hiring him. I'm sharing my experience so other homeowners can make an informed decision. I cannot recommend this contractor. In my experience, he accepted work he wasn't qualified to do, misrepresented his experience, and was more focused on being paid than on delivering safe, quality work.

BEWARE OF KADEN Williams AND KTA BUILD & Design!!!…read more He quoted a small job for me late December last year. FYI: He was not the cheapest quote. On December 31, he said that he would be ordering all the material from a wholesales dept. I gave him a deposit on January 2. One day before the day he was supposed to start the project (January 13) I texted him and no response and the day of (January 14) he texted me at 4:53 am to tell me he does not have the full order of everything he needs to start the project. After trying to call him to get a better understanding of what he's missing, he never picked up and I sent him a couple text messages on January 14 at 7: 39 am and no response still ( I put up screenshots time stamped). Around 9:28 am I texted him again and his response was that he thought he had everything to start but he just doesn't. And in that afternoon of the day he was supposed to start he texted saying he will be getting the materials from the Home Depot. He moved the start date to Friday January 16. Early in the morning of the 16th he sent me a picture of a door at the Home depot (still on the Home Depot racks) and claimed it was a door that they sent to him and wanted to know if I wanted it ( to which the answer was obviously No). I told him he could still start without all the materials and the doors and come finish when he's able to get the rest of the materials to which he agreed. He had 2 guys finally showed up almost at 12pm that day with some cheap stuff that they said he gave them which was leftover from another job they were working on and the guys asked me to go get them more material from the Home Depot. I told them this is not acceptable because I gave Kaden a $1550 deposit to get materials. When they started anyways with what they had it looked so bad I asked them to stop and call Kaden so he would get the proper and right size of material to complete. Keep in mind on December 30 I shared pictures with him of exactly the type material that I wanted ( which he's claiming he had no idea what material I wanted and it's my fault too that he didn't get the right material). On that day he promised to order the right materials and to come back 2 weeks later ( on January 26) to complete the work. We had freezing weather on the 26th and on January 27 I texted him "what is the status update and when will he be out there to do the work?" and that's when he said he reordered the materials and they can't get them and it could take a few days, a few weeks or a few months ( No serious contractor takes months to get some 2 by 2 frames and some basic screen that you can get from any supply house). From that day on he's been telling me one story after another so I ended up paying someone else to do the job.I asked Kaden to share any invoice or email proof of communication with the place that he ordered the material from and he refused to do so. Until now (second week of March) he's still sticking to his guns that he ordered the materials and sooner or later they will show up and he won't refund me my $1550. He thinks that he can try to harass and intimidate people that he owes money to (Think again scammer). This guy Kaden is a liar and nothing short of a scammer. He convinced himself that he is right and every homeowner or other contractor that has an issue with him taking their money and not performing the work he promised is wrong.

We found Yards Apart Landscaping on Yelp after becoming frustrated with unresponsive landscapers. Within a few hours of our initial request, Sue answered. After a couple of emails, the owner, Troy, arrived at our door the same evening for a preliminary consultation. They worked quickly; we got a thorough price in less than 24 hours. Within a week of submitting the quote, they were able to start the project. Outstanding service was provided. Troy and Sue allowed us to select the items we wanted, and we ultimately decided to go with everything on their quote. Even in the sweltering Texas heat, a work that we expected would take a week to complete was finished in just two days by a tiny but incredibly effective team. And Troy was there, working alongside his group with his sleeves rolled up. Troy was incredibly professional and knowledgeable about plants. He identified our current plants with ease and seamlessly added new ones that properly fit the overall style of our yard. They completed the task ahead of schedule, and we were quite pleased with the outcome. In fact, we're so happy with their job that when our new construction home is ready, we'll get in touch with Yards Apart Landscaping once more. We strongly advise getting in touch with Yards Apart Landscaping if you want to improve your outdoor area. We can vouch to their responsiveness, professionalism, and competence based on our excellent experience.

I had already spent thousands on a landscaper several years ago so I explained to Troy that I wanted to try native plants this time as well as a few of the changes I had in mind. He spent a lot of time listening and making very valuable suggestions. Unlike the first round of landscaping, I decided to give him my budget, and then let him make the choices of plants. Each idea he ran by me I loved, and it was a very easy process in communication. Unlike my first landscaper, Troy was patient, full of great ideas, friendly, and showed excitement about the project. I have had many neighbors stop by and tell me how beautiful my yard looks, and I see people looking as they walk by. Troy also got me in touch with an irrigation expert he vouches for to help my troubleshoot my irrigation system that had. not worked for awhile. He sent me a great company that helped me fix this issues and now I'm able to easily water my newly sodded yard every day! Each time I come home or look out the window, I am in awe at how incredible he and his men made it look. I will be excited when the time comes to call and book the next project, the backyard! Thank you Troy and Yards Apart team! I am so very grateful for your hard work! Carrie Butcher
