They posted photo's of Alison's work and her professional profile. I decided to Direct Message her on instagram hoping she would reply. Shortly after she responded and gave me her number where we had a consultation via texting and set up an appointment. It's amazing what technology can do! I used to get full highlights with my hair picked very thin, so my hair looked solid blonde. Since I let it grow out for over a year, there was a huge difference. Alison knew exactly what to do to make it look natural and cohesive with the highlights I had from before. She ended up doing a balayage and some foils to achieve the look and also cut my hair. I am so happy with how my hair turned out and she was so helpful and gave me a look that has an easier (and cheaper) maintenance from what I had before. She is such a great stylist and so sweet! She looked out for what best fit my budget at our appointment and in the future. I will definitely be coming back in the future!

sooooo long overdue, here it goes!!…read more I found Krystelle through a few different connections, all of which I trusted so I eagerly booked my first appointment (this was back in 2021?) At the time her studio was just down the street from me in Walnut Creek. Little did I know that I would have amazing hair transformations time after time, AND a lightweight therapist LOL. Since then I've followed Krystelle to her salon(s) in Danville and will certainly continue to her new salon in Alamo. Why?? Well my hair in itself gets SO many compliments. But beyond looking fabulous, Krystelle is so patient and so kind. Sometimes I go in with specific and odd requests, sometimes I have no idea what I want and I just entrust her to do whatever. In either situation, she listens to my needs, my curiosities, all of my random thoughts. She is also an EDUCATOR. She takes the time to tell me why certain things could work/ wouldn't work, and why. So I actually feel more informed about my hair and my hair decisions. I always look forward to those hours in her chair because SELF CARE is the best care and I always feel brought back to life in more ways than one!

However, I knew that I had to find a local go-to hair salon. Many bad haircuts ensued, but for the longest time I just couldn't find a decent hair stylist. I went to barber shops, local salons, etc., but they all did not make the cut. When I first found James on the Yelp app, I was hesitant because of all the previous failures and I was like WTH is an "Aura Zoom"? And, at that time he was renting a station in the back of a beauty supply store over on Oak Grove in Walnut Creek which was kind of weird. Still, I gave him a try and was like, he's pretty good. He actually knew what a fade was. Then James relocated over to a salon off of North Main Street in Walnut Creek when he rented another station and I followed. It was here that I observed his scissor skills improve to an elite level and soon enough he was busier than the owner of the hair salon. Seriously, the dude was working seven days a week. Maybe it was jealousy at the old salon or he just needed his own space, but his move to his very own salon suite co-op space akin to a WeWorks for hair dressers within the W Salon Suites in Alamo has been awesome. Now he has his very own enclosed suite and you can get some coffee at the shared lounge that is usually brewing Philz coffee beans. James is probably the best hair stylist in the East Bay, if not the Bay Area. Give him a try if you want a great cut. He accepts cash, Venmo, and credit cards. BTW, I still have no idea what Aura Zoom means LOL. * English is not his first language, but he speaks it well. He also speaks Korean and Mandarin. * During my most recent visit, he mentioned that he was taking Sundays off. Walk-ins are not accepted and reservations are required. Just give him a call or text. * In this era of being first, I can attest I was his FIRST customer at the current location [mic drop].
