I went to this salon for the first time as I wanted to experience a place new. I get blowouts 4 times a month. So, I am well aware of what I like and do not like. I got my blowout from Elena. She did a great job washing my hair and listened to what I stated as far as I have an oily scalp. The only thing I wasn't pleased about is she took 40ish mins to do a blowout and while that's great for someone who has short hair. I have never had someone take less time for my hair as it is pretty long. Normally, my blowouts take an hour or hour and 15 mins. And the result being, my blowout did not last more than 2 days. My blowouts normally last easily 4-5 days. I wish she took more time focusing on making sure not to just dry my hair and pin curl it, but more on making sure the round brush holding its volume. read more

I really wish I could give more stars because I had high hopes for this appointment. I came in for a blowout for my wedding rehearsal and specifically asked for a bombshell blowout with lots of curls. My hair is thick within 20-30 minutes post appointment my hair went flat and didn't hold the curl. What confused me was that the stylist curled my hair before the blowout but didn't curl it again afterward. My wedding rehearsal was three hours away, and while I did call the salon there simply wasn't enough time to go back for a fix. I had specifically asked for loose curls that would stay put as I was hosting a large Christmas party that night but after leaving and walking in through Target for half an hour, all the curls were gone. When I moved to the East Bay last summer, I was on the hunt for a new salon to refresh and maintain my highlights. After a lot of research (Google, Yelp, Instagram, etc.), I found The Studio and was happy to see that they offer blowout services too. In the past, I've gone to Drybar and the results were hit or miss so I was excited to give them a try. I'm glad I did because my experience was, and has always been, great! Recently, I've been trying to book with Melissa whenever I can (she's so friendly and talented!) but every stylist is very skilled and always achieve the exact look I want. I always leave loving my hair, the results last for days, and I always get so many compliments :) After my first blowout appointment, I talked to the receptionist and shared what hair color/style I wanted and she recommended booking with Kate. I made the appointment on their website and have been seeing her ever since. Kate is extremely talented, nice, and quick! During our first appointment, I showed her a few inspo pics and said I wanted something low maintenance but still noticeable enough to give my hair more dimension. She understood the vision and gave me exactly what I wanted! I see her every couple months to refresh my hair and I'm always in love with the results. Her cut and style is also amazing! I can't recommend her enough. I also appreciate how easy it is to book and modify appointments. I haven't had issues with my appointments, whether they were made online, in-person, or over the phone. The receptionists are friendly, the studio is clean, and the products are great. There's also a garage around the corner that has free 2-hr parking, which is a blessing in Walnut Creek. read more

I always supported them, but my recent experiences have been incredibly upsetting.A few months ago, I booked a blowout and when I arrived, they claimed there was no appointment--even though I had it confirmed. I was told to leave without any apology or effort to make it right. I had somewhere important to be that day, and they didn't care at all.More recently, I tried to book again after being out, and they told me they won't take me anymore because of "too many no-shows." That's simply not true. Grace at the front desk was rude and dismissive--no empathy, no professionalism. They have always made a concentrated effort to ensure each client has they experience they want which is evident in the way each stylist approaches their client. 2. Shannon was the first person to ever give me a blowout and never ever disappoints. Truly a class act AND a wonderful conversationalist. But if you just want your hair done and a chill experience she will provide you that too. But theres no way you you're not going to want to chat with this angel. 3. Noreen is my current regular stylist honestly, the beach waves are just perfection. Giving.. fresh from beach but polished for a meeting. I am in and out within 45 minutes and it looks like it took me hours to get ready. I booked an appointment thru the phone for a haircut and was excited to get my hair done here. I was informed about the cancellation and no show fee so I said I would be there. I made it on time to my appointment only to be told that it was for a blowout only and that my stylist couldn't cut my hair. Not sure why my appointment was booked that way when I was clear about a haircut but it really bummed me out. My daughter and I had a blowout a few weeks ago. I have since been thinking about the experience I had, which is why I've decided to write this review several weeks later. The stylist I had (I believe her name was Elena. She's from Russia) was irritated with me from the start. I accidentally walked to the wrong station (her direction on where to go wasn't clear). My daughter was in a station nearby and saw her deep sigh and roll her eyes behind my back. We then went to the sink where she frustratingly asked me how long it had been since I washed my hair. I didn't give it much thought at the time (why does it matter, I'm paying you to wash it!) but it was clearly her way of a dig. She was probably telling me that my hair smelled. OR at the very least, that's how I took it. And what paying client wants to feel that way? Throughout the service she continued to tug and pull. Telling me to look down or to the side during the blow-dry. It by no means a relaxing experience. At this point, I did my best to kill her with kindness and try to converse asking her about herself. Looking back on it, I wish I asked her what her problem was. Or I should have stood up and walked out. Hindsight is always 20/20 which is why I'm warning you to take your money elsewhere. Or the very least, DO NOT go to her. The salon itself is beautiful but my experience with Elena was NOT. My advice to the salon owners is find a new stylist. This one should not be in the client services industry, as she's giving your beautiful salon a bad name. My daughter and I will never return. read more

I am updating my review since my last review was for the prior business, which was a blow dry salon. This is strictly for their bridal hair and makeup services and specifically Kelcea, who coordinated them with me and Liliana, who did my bridal hair and makeup (including trial). Kelcea was very accomodating and responsive to answering my many questions and scheduling my appointments, which I really appreciated. Also, given that the salon is technically closed on Sundays, I really appreciated them in being open on a Sunday since my wedding was on a Sunday and since the venue wasn't that far it was easier for me to schedule going to the salon first rather have them come to my venue. I got a lot of compliments on my hair staying put after my hair trial. I was hoping the same for my actual wedding day, given the tendency to frizz during the heat and it was perfect, especially in pictures, as was my makeup which didn't melt off, another concern of mine. Liliana is very nice and professional and she also did my Mom's makeup and made her look even more amazing for my wedding day. My Mom loved it too and she is very picky! She said what she liked best about Liliana was that she agrees to what you want, rather than insisting on her suggestions. I told her what I wanted for my eyes and she gave me exactly what I wanted, including mascara. She suggested getting lashes on might not be necessary and after seeing her eye makeup application on me she was right! My Mom was so impressed that she plans to use her for hair styling when she goes out in special events and although I plan to be moving, next time I'm in the area I plan to do the same. I highly recommend this salon for bridal hair and makeup in general and Liliana specifically! Thank you for making my Mom and I look beautiful on my wedding day! read more

I have been here twice and have had very different experiences. The first time was phenomenal. I loved my blowout, scheduling was easy and overall I was thrilled to have found a place that would is affordable, close and does a great job. The second time I came, it was a week later. After my first appointment, I loved my hair so much I asked to reschedule my second appointment to have the same stylist. They let me know the stylist was only available at a specific time the following week, which I said okay to and would rearrange my day to make it work. The day of my appointment, I showed up and was brought to the chair by a different stylist. I asked where my requested stylist was and was told that she was "not in". This was frustrating but I moved on because I needed my hair done still. Within 5 minutes, my requested stylist showed up a few chairs down and was doing the hair of a friend. This really bothered me!! I have a feeling my scheduled appointment was changed to accommodate the requested stylists friend. This is completely unacceptable. I want to come back, but did not appreciate the lying the occurred. read more
