I have a mascara allergy a friend suggested I do eyelash extensions. I was worried I would have big spidery eyelashes that looked unreal. Vanessa at TK did a consult and showed me weight, length and color choices. She matched me perfectly. She gave me fuller eyelashes that looked natural and I don't need mascara! The process was very relaxing the salon is nice, she is friendly, professional, and it was a great experience. I chose to go with the regular adhesive and I was fine. It's been three weeks, I made an appointment next week for a fill. I have been going to TK hair for years. They saved me when the stylist I had booked for my wedding cancelled last minute and gratiously swooped in to save the day and style my 6 bridesmaids and my mother (a friend was already doing mine) and Vanessa even did my mothers makeup (since my mom was late and the makeup artist had already left). It had been over a decade since I had gone to a professional stylist. I have long espresso brown hair and a tan/honey skin tone. Basically, I look like Pocahontas and over the years I was never quite satisfied with the color or highlights that I was given, just felt like it wasn't complimentary with my skin tone. With the combination of her great taste and taking into consideration the exceptional experience/background of the TK Hairdesign team, I decided that it was worth giving it a shot. The first thing that Vanessa did was ask me very specific questions about the last time I colored my hair, the volume used, what I wanted to achieve, and gave me some feedback of the ideas I had in mind. She explained the game plan and walked me through step by step throughout the process, which I appreciated. Within a couple of hours I went from having long dark hippy hair to beautiful Raquel Welch healthy hair with the perfect highlights that compliment my skin tone instead of making me look like the rapper 'Lil Kim (nothing wrong with her hair, I just like to look a little more natural :)). She asked to cut off a few more inches than I originally had in mind but, she advised that it would allow for more body to my hair and she was absolutely right. I am so happy with everything from the color, cut, highlights, tone, suggested supplements to help strengthen my hair and love the private hair office/station she works her magic in. I went to Vanessa to get lash extensions (Novalash), and LOVED my results. I'm usually someone who is hesitant about these kinds of cosmetic things as I like to show a more natural look, and don't often wear makeup. I see a lot of lash extensions on people, and while they look beautiful, they have never looked natural enough for my personal taste. However, since I don't wear makeup, I thought they could be an awesome convenience to have to highlight my eyes without any effort. Vanessa was amazing and understood exactly what I was looking for. She has the ability to create all types of "looks," but really listened to my preference to keep it minimal and natural, and they turned out amazing! Many people have commented that I look more awake or my eyes look pretty, but haven't even asked if I have extensions, which I think is a testament to the quality of her work! I barely notice they are there, and they are lasting a long time. Vanessa is also kind, sweet, and professional. My sister has been using Tom's services for years and she's always raved about him. Last year, I decided to pretty much shave my head. I was looking for some feedback from a good stylist as to whether they thought my hair could be cut the way I wanted and if my face to carry it off. A few other stylists were not helpful at all, so my sister suggested I see Tom. I'm so glad I did. He wasn't afraid at all of what I wanted to do and I felt he was honest about how my hair would lay and how it would look on me. He thought I could pull off a very short cut and we went forward that day. I LOVE MY CUT!! I do have to go back about every 30 days to get it trimmed and once I went to another stylist that was closer and, honestly, a bit cheaper, for a trim. What a mistake. The cut looked like a man's cut and I hated it. The next month, I went back to Tom and haven't looked back. A few months before my daughter's wedding, I told him where I wanted my hair for the wedding and he began to prepare it to be just the way I wanted on that special day. I can't recommend Tom enough. He's personable and extremely talented. I just love him! read more
