First off, the salon is in such a gorgeously designed space that it was hard not to admire every detail when you first walk in. My stylist, Alicia, did such a phenomenal job based on only 2 inspo pics! She captured exactly what I wanted and went above and beyond to make sure that my style would hold the entire day (it held its shape even till the next day!). I went into my appointment feeling frazzled because I barely slept the night before, but I left so excited and on the verge of joyful tears because she did such an amazing job with my hair. I have been seeing Alicia for cuts and balayage for over a year, and she does an amazing job. I really appreciate that she always asks for my guidance on how much to cut. I cannot recommend Ashely Pollard Hair Studio enough! I finally got my dream hair and I feel like I look like a movie star! For the first time ever, I receive compliments from strangers. For the past 5 years I have been using Tape Ins, the Hair Tok brand. That hair is crap! Frizzy with split ends and it's a pain to always blow dry your hair right away to prevent the glue from disintegrating. The hair Ashley uses is not damaged and very high quality! She makes sure you have the exact volume and hair color you want. She also sews them in beautifully and conspicuously on your scalp. I look stunning now! And I don't have to worry about the hair falling out like the tape ins and I look 100% better. It's also very easy to make an appointment. Appointments are never more than 2 weeks out. Dream hair is achieved here! I was fortunate enough to work with Alicia who is absolutely incredible - I was too scared to have high hopes on how my hair would look but Alicia knocked it out of the park. The short version is that I've had hair trauma this past year - between COVID and a divorce and insane work stress, my hair has suffered. It hasn't grown past my shoulders for over a year, it's breaking, and it's thinning. I was in tears every single morning when I would try to style my pathetic, sad hair. One night during a 3am insomnia bout, I Google'd extension techniques that were least damaging and would work for someone with fine/not a lot of hair. And I discovered Natural Beaded Rows (NBR) extensions. Ashley and her team are amongst the few in the Bay Area that have actually mastered this technique and it's now a game-changer for me. Alicia created the perfect blonde coloring for my own hair, matched the wefts/extensions to my color exactly, then expertly installed the extensions using the NBR technique. My biggest fear was having a mullet with my own hair looking ridicules on top of the gorgeous longer, wefts/extensions. But Alicia cut my hair and the extensions like an absolute professional. Melinda was my stylist. I am very happy with her work :) She did a copper blonde balayage with face framing highlights. My hair is very dark, but the transition is not harsh. I've had balayage and ombré colors for years, but with platinum blonde or honey blonde. Changing it to copper was a transition. If I could give Ashley Pollard Studio 10 stars I would. I had a last minute request from my daughter who decided she wanted Balayage done to her hair 3 days before her graduation ceremony. I quickly sent a request to several places on Yelp as I knew it was a very last minute service. Long overdue review! I have been getting my hair done by Melinda, color and NBR extensions. I'm in love with my hair every single time! I can't believe how natural my extensions look, and how spot on the color matches my hair. I get so many compliments on my hair now and people cant even tell I have extensions in! I love that I can still put my hair up in a ponytail or braids and even half up without my extensions showing, it's literally magic. I first found her after the lockdowns and I had done a number on my hair with at home dye, followed by another stylist who had tried to "fix it" (my old stylist moved during the initial lockdowns). I had searched yelps and Instagrams of what felt like every stylist in the East Bay and was horribly discouraged by the prices I was quoted or by what I was hearing. But then... Just got a bayalage done by Ashey's assistant, Analise, and let me tell you, I absolutely LOVE how it turned out!! I have not had my hair dyed in over 15 years so I was pretty nervous getting my Asian jet-black hair dyed to an ash-blond color. But I am sure glad I took the plunge! Analise knew exactly what to do with my hair so it wouldn't turn orangey-yellow. She also explained that it will take at least two sessions to get it to the ash-blond color that I want. But after the first session, I must say I am very happy with the results! Analise is an expert in the field and has a wealth of experience. I have been wanting to be blonde for a VERY long time, and have had many stylist try and never quite get it right. Not only did Ashley get me blonde, she and her assistant Annalise exceeded my expectations and delivered my dream hair! I called hoping to get an appointment as soon as possible, thinking it would be weeks to get in. I told Ashley over the phone what I wanted and she told me to come in the very same day to have a consultation. At the consultation she educated me on what would be best for my hair and what would achieve the closest result to the images I showed her. She also informed me she would be leaving on vacation the following day but if I really wanted she would open her schedule in the morning for me BEFORE SHE LEFT! Like what?!!
