Recently remodeled and much cleaner than before. There's still some tweaking that needs to be done. We were in an area that was very dim and we all had trouble reading parts of the menus. We had to literally break out the flashlight apps on our phones! The food is still good and VERY generous portions as before. We were a party of eight and had quite a wait for our food. Two tables nearby that came in after us were served before us so we weren't impressed. And we didn't order anything exotic, burgers and fish fry types of things. A friend of mine and I went to Terry's Place because we wanted to eat some place local that serves really great food, and after reading the Yelp reviews, I thought that this was really the place... I was sadly disappointed. We both ordered sweet tea, and the words that my friend used to describe it, "Swamp Water," could not have been more appropriate. So, we got some cokes instead... The food was also really bad... I ordered the philly cheesesteak and it came out covered in Yellow American cheese, and the meat was some kind of cross between a rabbit and a squirrel. I flagged down the waitress and told her that I wasn't really happy with it, but that I would still pay for it since I had taken a really big bite out of it. She was really nice and took it off for me and I ordered a Turkey sub as a replacement. Everything that is said about the portions are Terry's Place is true... If the food weren't crap, the portion sizes would be awesome. When my Turkey sub came out, it was way too big to even eat, but I managed to get half a bite off of it and it tasted like the cook had dumped the sub in a bucket of salt before sending it out to me. Suffice it to say, it was disgusting. When the waitress came over to check why I wasn't eating, I explained that it tasted like it was covered in salt, and she said that other people had told her that too, but she's never eaten anything there that isn't fried, so... (This should speak for itself). We asked for the check and left... I won't be going back there. Oh, and one of the other really appealing things about this place was that they home cook their bread, and usually home cooked bread is really tasty and fresh and excellent... It sucks at Terry's Place. I wish that I could give 1.5 stars for this place, because I think that the atmosphere of the place is really down-home (which is nice), and the service was worth the other .5 stars. Awful customer service. Food came out cold after an hour. When asked to speak to a manager we were told their only manager was bar tending. We told them to send a manager or we were walking out. Another server told us that the only manager was bar tending and he wouldn't take the time to come to us. Server said she would walkout if she were us. read more

Oh, my goodness! This may be one of the better meals we have had we had while here in Ocala -- and we have had some good meals. As noted in YELP comments, the portions are very very generous. Come with a good appetite! We had to take half of our things home and we will enjoy them again! The shrimp were delicious and large. The fish portions, same thing. Salads were huge and fresh. Our server, Tara L., was friendly and efficient and we want to give a shout out to her along with this establishment. Took a date out to here, have never been before even though I've lived in Ocala for a quite awhile. So anyone that have not gone here yet are missing out. I was very impressed, the steak was juicy and cooked to perfection. The order came out quickly and well prepared. Poor service , the server was slightly rude and seemed irritated to be waiting on us . The place was very cold so we turned the ceiling fans directly above us off. The server came over mumbled something under breath and turned it on higher than was to begin with. Again we turned it off , not only we were all cold , our food was getting colder, meaning wasn't hottest when arrived. She rushes over there to tell us it has to be on for circulation purposes , rude about it, well the one at their wait station wasn't on either. Just over all unpleasant experience. Not that it matters most likely to anyone there , the establishment has been there a long time and I'm sure there are many regulars on weekly basis. But for our party of 11 there will not be any of us returning nor will we be recommending it to anyone. read more

I have to say this about Terry's...you get every penny of your money out of the food. This place is small on price and big on value. We enjoy going when they do kids eat free because in these tight times you have to be smart about saving money, and Terry's is the place to do it. My husband and I usually go for a sub or the dinner plates because we can have lunch for the next day or TWO. I have never had a mediocre meal from them or mediocre service. Good bar food overall. Except for the giant salads, you will not find many vegetables at Terry's that are not fried. Big burgers with homemade bus, steaks, chicken, and fried fish. 4 out of 5 times I have had good food. Last visit, I had a tasteless burger, soggy fries, and a flat beer. It must not have been in the cards that day...LOL....will give it a bit before we try again. Would be nice to see a makeover one day and give the ole girl some knew life. My husband and I decided to go to Terry's for dinner and drinks , bad move the service was horrible we sat for 15 minutes before I had to finally get up and get a waitress to send someone to our table , and mind you 3or4 waitresses just looked at us and didn't even acknowledge that we were there and then she was rude about sending someone to our table , the place was dirty the food so-so and I ,We will never go back they are all rude and nothing but a bunch of hillbillies who are trying to run a nasty dirty and unorganized bar/ restaurant !!! The service was awful, and after looking around and visiting the bathroom this is one of the most disgusting, dirty, restaurants I have ever been to. The floors haven't been mopped and I don't know how long, long enough for me to be able to write my initial in the grime with my toe and it be very very clear. We have been a few times in the last couple of months and really enjoyed the food. Today however was a different story. We needed a large booth and the only one not being occupied by diners was occupied with an employee rolling silverware. Went to the back where they had high top booth with chairs. Sat for 10 minutes with no one acknowledging we were there. Got up to find a waitress and was told someone will be there in a minute. Minutes passed and no one. They were not all that busy as we were there at 4:15. We left and won't be back. Terry's Place is old and dated but because the food was good we went. No longer!!! read more

Visiting here from out of state. We came to Terry's for food, drinks and Trivia. The waitress is very friendly. All the food comes in giant portions and tastes very good. The Trivia company (www.imaginetrivia.com) was welcoming and helpful. If you like the feel of a local hangout this is the place to come. We will come back on future visits. read more

Great meals for a great price. A local bar with awesome food. You won't leave hungry. The burgers are huge, portions generous. Typically a sports game or two on the many TVs, acoustic guitar entertainment on the Friday night I was there. We are here for a baseball tournament. We took our baseball team there on a recommendation from a local parent. When we pulled into the parking lot we weren't real sure we were in the right place. It's not very impressive on the inside either and we almost left but decided to give it a try. When we got our food, the portions were huge and the food was AMAZING! From the fish sandwich, the sirloin tip sandwich, the hamburger, and even the kids hot dog. The French fries were out of this world! I am so glad we didn't judge THIS book by its cover! I'm thoroughly impressed, food drunk and fulfilled to my maximum capability. First indication that I my Belly Buster Burger order was going to far exceed my irreproachable standards was the impeccable cooking of the copious beef that is the foundation of this signature entree. It was cooked to the pinnacle of burger craft and was the textbook perfect medium temperature in which I ordered; with some slight inspection I deduced the beef that the burger patties are lovingly crafted with has to be ground fresh in house daily. The attention to detail in how the burger was assembled was also a salubrious treat and on a level which is almost equivocal to OCD level and in my humble opinion I absolutely could not have been more exuberant about it. The level of perfection achieved is usually reserved for dignitaries or beloved family members of the staff, but was graciously bestowed upon myself and I'm forever blessed and grateful for this tip top service and quality of food. The fiat expenditure was drastically lower than I expected to ever pay in my most fantastical dreams. The dutiful attention my server bequeathed unto me was also to my utmost satisfaction, she impeccably suggested the "Belly Buster" and her suggestion couldn't have been more precise for the overall demeanor of my palate and gullet this lovely evening. I'm actually going to go back tomorrow and giver her an increase of the lagniappe I left this evening. I will be relaying my high acclaim for this outstanding establishment unless there are lapses in service, which I highly doubt. Wow, for the money I don't think you can get more food, except maybe at one of those all you can eat places. But even then, you get better food at Terry's. My only complaints have been with the noise and the service, the place is usually crowded and with all those people talking and laughing, it can be hard to carry on a conversation. My other complaint is sometimes the service can be slow (but occasionally, it is amazingly fast). The last time we went to Terry's it was a Friday Night (that was our mistake #1), we arrived at 6:35 and had to wait a while for a table to open up ... when finally were seated, it took a while for the waitress to arrive ... I asked for their Happy Hour draft beer ... only to be told that it was now 7:03 and happy hour ended at 7:00 ... I was a little upset, if the waitress had come when we sat down, it would have been before 7:00, but let it go ... we ordered our meal ... now, there were two large parties in the place (15+ people in one and around 10 in the other) ... around 8:00 we asked our waitress (who was brand new on the job) when we could expect to eat. She said our order got put in late behind the large parties, and that was causing the delay, but it should be out soon (mistake #2 was not leaving at that point) ... we watched as people who arrived after us ordered, ate and left. We talked the waitress into bringing us some bread (which is very good) ... Our meal was finally ready at 9:00 and we asked to have it packed "TO GO." ... To add mistake #3 to the list, the waitress gave me the bill for the table next to us, and I didn't realize it until they brought me the receipt to sign and I noticed that it was about $20 too high ... it was a little complicated getting that fixed ... My wife absolutely will NOT go back to Terry's ... I'm not as upset and would gladly go back (maybe not on a Friday night however), I really think it was due to a waitress error because she was new on the job ... I still think the food is great ... I especially like their tossed salad ... you could fill up on one of them and they are less than $4. I can honestly give Terry's 4 out of 5 stars ... you just need to be careful of when you go ... you can usually judge by the number of cars in the parking lot ... if it's really full, pass on ... if you see a few spaces ... it's probably safe to go in ... if you see a lot of empty spaces, you should have a good time. Remember, that it is a "Biker" type Sports Bar ... Bikers are great people, but don't expect all the finery of a restaurant like Olive Garden, Red Lobster and such ... it is good food and a plain environment with lots of noisy people having a good time. Occasionally, you may even find a great waitress, we just didn't that time. read more

Terry's USED to be one of our most favorite restaurants in the Ocala area. I guess like a lot of places they have cut back on quality products. My wife had the rib steak and it was grisly and way over cooked for medium. Very hard to chew. I had the sirloin tips and they were just as grisly and tough. The fries were just as good as ever though. Salad was a little smaller but still ample, but almost all just lettuce. The $1.00 draft beer is still a great deal during happy hour. read more

This is my first time here and I'm with friends that have been here before. When we first arrived it was a bit busy so we didn't mine waiting to be waited on. Once we were waited on it took forever to get our drinks and salads. Actually the salads came about 5 minutes before the drinks( had to ask again for our drinks) we are patient. Finally over 45 mins after ordering our food came and it looked delicious! BUT WAS ALL COLD! Well except one meal. Going to try to be completely objective here... Pros: Large portions, nice staff, reasonable prices. Cons: About the food, I was excited because I heard about their awesome cheeseburgers and was really craving one so I went tonight for the first time. It was huge and so were the fries (you have to pay separate) but was disappointed in how BLAND it was, even the fries. I added salt and pepper but it didn't help. About the staff: The lady sitting next to me was smoking an e-cigarette (which are banned in Marion County wherever regular cigarettes are banned). I asked the waitress to ask the lady to stop but she looked confused and said something and left. I figured she'd be back to say something to the lady, but instead came to me and stated" the owner said they voted on it but it hasn't passed yet". I knew this wasn't true so I Googled on my phone to show her an ordinance that passed over a year ago. She took me to the manager, who is the owner's grandson. He was a very nice guy that was apologetic; however, his story changed. He said he was aware but that" no one had ever complained before" and that he would tell his grandad. While this is happening, the bartender called the sheriff to see if the ordinance was true and at this point, people were starting to look at me and asking "what's going on?".Thankfully I got out of that situation quick, thanked the manager, and finished my meal. No one ever did tell the lady next to me that she couldn't smoke her e-cig inside as she continued to smoke. read more
