Had a GREAT meal tonight. Food was delicious, GIANT portions, HOT and came pretty quick to the table, being a Fri night. The very nice Hostess seated us promptly in the dining room as the place was just starting to fill up. We waited longer than usual for someone to take our order, very unusual. Thankfully, the Hostess returned (not her job) and took our order and just as she was about to complete it..... the appropriate Server/Waitress finally sauntered up to the table. We were prepared give a nice tip but the Server's performance said otherwise since there were numerous times we caught her just "hanging out| with a bar patron...... We've been going Terry's for years and all the staff has been super, attentive and tipped accordingly. Maybe she needs a refresher..... Love Terry's and will be back soon!!! read more

The food as always was great! The problem was the food took an hour and fifteen minutes to arrive! The waitress gets an attitude and argues that it's not "her fault". She then decides to holler out across the parking lot, not once but three times, that they are not a fast food restaurant. She was correct, we could have eaten a hundred times at a fast food restaurant. We spent an hour and a half there. We will never be back. read more

TERRY'S is at best a mixed bag these days. The prices are way up and the food quality is very uneven. "Service"(if you want to call it that!) is never a factor at Terry's....it's always rude & semi-hostile. I ordered a basic cheesburger...medium. After a considerable time, it arrived extra well done...hard & dry. When told, the 'server' asked "...well, do ya wanna 'nother one or what....?" Being hungry and not wanting to 'play the game' I ate the $6.49 dry cheesburger. The 'server' was only concerned that I knew SHE had put in the order for medium....that it wasn't HER fault...no interest whatever in making the problem right. This shouldn't be a surprise; you never went to Terry's for service, but at least the food used to make up for it. Seemingly not any more. If I go back, it will be just for the beer! If I want a 7 dollar burger, I'll just go to 5 guys and be assured of a great one. Not so at Terry's Place. read more

I love the burgers here! One of my favorite places in Ocala for a good burger and fries. Huge portions never go home hungry.

Maybe the best wings in town! Must get the chicken combo. 10 wings your way and 5 big tenders for only $9.99. Service pretty good. It doesn't look like much but a must try! Other items on menu good also. read more

We stopped at Terry's because we were curious. We went there a second time. The first time we had appetizers and hot dogs. The food was great! The service was good! The second time we went there, we sat there with menus in front of us in plain view. We got his sweet tea and my ice water. We sat there for 50 minutes waiting for a waitress to come take our order. Several waitresses looked over at our table but no one came over. I decided to see how long it would take for a waitress to come. It was 50 minutes! A couple came in and sat at the table next to ours. The waitress got their orders before ours! When she did come over after that, she apologized. I asked for the manager. The hostess came over. I asked for the manager. Sh e went to get the manager. She returned saying the manager was cooking and that the manager would take 10% off of our check. After that, the waitresses could hardly wait to get back to our table to see what they could bring. The first waitress came by our table saying how sorry she was and telling us that she would probably lose her job. Perhaps she should have done it better. We got a whole $1.50 off of our check! The hamburgers were the biggest I had ever seen and were very good! We will be back there again as it is very hard to find good food in Ocala. read more

We have been going to Terry's for a long time. The last couple of times we went for dinner, we have been very disappointed!! The food is great, and they have large portions for the price. But we wait till after 4 pm because this is when you may get a baked potato with dinner. The last couple of times they didn't have any potatoes just French fries or onion rings, (hello they come in a bag, they don"t spoil if don"t use them). They didn't have any side dishes to put your rolls on, and they had ran out of their cuts of meats! This last time the service was awful! If you are going to run a restaurant, run it right! Have enough food, and teach your servers to be polite not with a attitude! We will not be back, we hope you correct your restaurant, you had a good thing going. read more

Terry's is a great place for a big meal. The chicken tenders are awesome and enough to feed a group of people. The fish dinner is excellent, the hamburgers are so big a normal person can't eat the whole thing. I love eating there cause I always have lunch the next day because the portions are so big. Terry's Place !! 20 yrs ago the food was great . Would go there every weekend to eat an drink. Yes the amount of food for the price is great ..In the last 10 yrs the food taste like garbage. A group of 12 of us went not long ago and we all order are food at one time. The server was great , the food not so much. We will NEVER go back there again..It has went totally down hill. I have been going to Terry's for about 20 years now and had never had a problem before today...but, took some new friends here raving about the place and got the worse service ever. Seems they were short staffed so they had called in a 'new' waitress to fill in and it was her first day. Had to wait for menus, no silverware, had to ask for the bread, salad missing the eggs, screwed up my order. I wanted the mushroom appetizer instead brought my husband his fish dinner covered with mushrooms! No dinner for me, waitress could never be located, had to get her attention to ask what happened. Finally got my mushrooms after everyone had finished eating. All the meals were cold, never came back to refill water or drink requests and after sharing with my husband before my meal came I took mine to go. We had to clean our own dishes from table as she never came back to remove anything. When I left I explained that most restaurants would have at least given the late meal on the house ($4.99) as a courtesy for the inconvenience and this is where it gets bad! I was told after another very nice longtime waitress went back to the kitchen to explain the dilemma came back and told me that I had to give them the mushrooms back and they would take off the exact amount! LOL I had never heard that and since our to go box had the mushrooms and my husbands leftovers I said sure here take it all! They said they would just throw them out but had to have them back to reduce my bill! I have never in my whole life been treated with such disrespect and unprofessional service! If I was that restaurant owner and had a twenty year customer treated like that because I failed to properly staff my business on Father's Day I think I would have picked up the tab for the whole bill! I left my number and asked that the owner call me on Monday but will not hold my breath! I know that Terry's is known for it's small town, family owned reputation and the large portions it serves for a small price and yes it is definitely not known for the atmosphere but at least give your loyal customers some good service and do not insult them in such a way that now I will never step a foot back into Terry's and it really ruined our whole Father's Day and kinda made me look like a fool to our new friends who also thought this restaurant that I raved about was just terrible! read more

wings have went downhill.....little wings and taste like old oil. this is 2nd review as I went back hoping for better food. subs are big and cant really ruin that. do not order soda! system taste like mold and prob is. We went there today 2/14 around 1:00. Place was pretty busy. Tables full and what tables weren't full ,we all dirty. We finally decided to just sit at a dirty table. While waiting for a while to be reognized and have the table cleaned, I observed that the waitresses had no direct supervision. They were waiting tables, busing and taking payments. There was plenty of arguing going on between the waitresses about tables and taking orders ,where the customers could hear. I observed every bar top with dirty dishes on them, dirty dishes being stacked on 2 tables, so they couldn't be used for customers to eat at. Dirty dishes piled up in the pass window between the front bar and the dining area to the left. One part left after waiting 20 minutes for a clean table. I saw 2 couples seated but no one even acknowledge them for over 20 minutes. When they tried to ask a waitress for aqssistance, She said, I'm not your waitress. Couldn't she have at least gotten them a drink and given them some menus. I could see without management supervision, that it would be very easy for customers to walk out without paying. The waitresses can't be everywhere and do everything and make sure everyone pays. We have been here plenty of times. I've seen several reiews just like mine . We asked for a manager and were told they don't have one. The waitresses need training to be more polite and attentive but there needs to be a manager presence too. A good manager will assign workable stations and maybe clean a table or two or take cash. If the food wasn't so good, I doubt we would be back. read more

Terrys has pretty good food considering the appearance. Their bartender is one of the rudest people I have ever met. She is slow, definitely has her favorites. The waitress's complain about her and always have to bail her out behind the bar or their customer's never get their drinks (this told to me by 2 waitress's that served us that night). She was pouring inconsistent and very weak shots and when we complained she came to our table with an attitude. She then goes behind the bar and insists on pouring us 10 shots as a jab back at us for complaining (which are now consistent). When she returns to the table with an attitude again, I told her that she was acting like a b***h and she was rude every time I have been there. She runs to the phone to call the police then tells the manager she wants us kicked out. Just like that because she has poor customer service and can't take the truth. The manager, without hesitation or our side of the story kicks us out this after my tab being $200 (which is about what I spend every time I go there) with a party of 6 people. They have lost us as customer's and I'm sure will lose many more due to her attitude. read more

Well I have been in the Ocala area since 1998. I have heard from several of my customers that Terry's Place is good food at a great price. So yesterday I finally got the opportunity to eat there and I took one of my new employees. We sat down and started looking around , at first glance its a very dark atmosphere. The very next table I saw a cockroach running across. So I asked for the waitress and let her know so she immediately went to get it. Then the manager/owner I have no idea who she is , came over and said" you have a problem". I said "no but there is a roach right there and it makes me worried about the kitchen. She said I could go in her kitchen I kindly declined. So food came it was a good portion and looked good, but at the same time that happened a patron came in that was about 80 with feces and urine on back of her pants and she sat in a seat. I thought of Jon Tafford also I started looking around and everything has huge pile of dirt and grease and grime, combined with dark dingy it is a place I will not be going back. Remind you after all of this not counting some other things we barely ate any of the salad that I got. The manager /owner never said anything and I paid the entire bill. Very disappointing. read more
