Thankfully we have been make the trip out to Dr. Gradous for almost 9 years now so that wasn't an issue. I do use the word "trip" because it is just that. Depending on where you are coming from, it can be anywhere from a 30 to 60 minute drive. But it is worth it. The building and parking lot are small, as is Dr. Gradous. But don't let that fool you. He is straight forward in his instructions (i.e. "no Ole Roy") and has been known to treat animals much better than humans on a regular basis. And that's why we don't go anywhere else. He will speak softly to them and treat them with the utmost care when they enter his presence. This reputation has preceded so much that getting an appointment can be a challenge, so plan ahead. He does this because for the animals, as he has attempted to retire twice already but obviously is still there. His costs for medicine, shots, and appointments are the lowest you will find. Also, right next door his daughter runs the grooming and boarding. The entire team is top notch. I honestly have no idea what we will do when he stays retired.

Adding insult to injury, the gal matter-of-factly added that since Monday is a Holiday, there would be an added $50 charge. Bear collapsed Saturday morning; he could not wait even another day for their convenience, but why did they not offer to come Sunday knowing there was an urgent need? I still don't know why no one was available all of Saturday. Taking Bear away from home was the last thing I wanted to put him through in the final hours of his precious life; he deserved much better. I was bitterly disappointed and angry, but did not take it out on the gal from Lap of Love. I scrambled to make arrangements with BluePearl in Augusta and also had to find a friend willing to help me get Bear (130 Lbs) in my van and to go with me for moral support. Bottom-line. Your experience might be better if your pet happens to be ready to be put down on a convenient day and time for Lap of Love. But I can only speak from my own experience and it was exceedingly disappointing. If you pin your hopes on Lap of Love, just make sure you have a plan B.

He believed that the wounds were from the cage she must have been in. I'm now wondering if it had a wire floor and if she was left outside? The staff had no explanation as to the cause of her condition and said that she'd been eating and was fine. When I pressed them they said I'd left her there a long time. I had no idea that 'there' was a concentration camp for $30.00 a day. She's eating twice her normal amount of food and would probably eat more but I don't want her to vomit. The sore on her lip is getting worse and she has a lot of gas. I'm going to have to take her back to the vet to be checked for parasites.
