we used Tesla because we felt safe with a large company that would be in business for years. The installation was great with the crew being very professional and efficient. after the installation we had to wait for the utility to grant us operational status. This is where Tesla Energy dropped the ball repeatedly. they provided inaccurate information and failed to follow through on promises. It's 8 months later and we still have not had our problems resolved. If you have any problems, you are not able to speak with anybody. I have written numerous emails to try to resolve problems and nobody gets back to you. You can only speak with your Project Advisor and he is very limited what he can do according to him. we are happy with the energy system but the customer service is a disaster. I am concerned about the future of the system if we run into any problems. I am hopeful that somebody will contact me so I can recommend Tesla to friends and neighbors. read more

Still getting leaks, damages to our home. Still after all these years we have NOT been compensated for not getting savings on our energy usage. Still have not gotten the $5,000 incentive that was promised to us in order to get us to sign up with them. They are yet to correct their billing mistake for not having our system up and running a whole year after the system was installed yet they continued to bill us for that year they admitted their mistake then said that we missed payments ( NOT TRUE ). We showed our cancelled checks but they still insist on us paying for their mistakes AND threaten to damage our credit. VERY BAD EXPERIENCE WITH THIS COMPANY Update: Roof still leaking from brackets due to poor installation. Tesla will not come take care of damages unless we pay them to come out. We are supposed to be on a lease agreement and we were put on a power purchasing agreement! We even have our sales rep Rich calling the company on our behalf advising them of their mistake. We cannot afford the gigantic bills we are now receiving from them and pseg and will NOT pay solar city until it is resolved. I was tempted to do business with this company. I asked them for 3 local references for an apple to apple comparison. After 6 emails, and 5 weeks. This is the reply I got from Dan Parker, one of their account managers. The map that was sent to me, was blurred, providing me with little information if this was a Solar city customer, or another company. They are so big, but yet have no customers who are willing to share their experiences with prospective new customers? Very odd! I see no reviews that mention taking Solar City to small claims court, which I am in the process of doing as I write this review. They refuse to fix a horrible ceiling repair they did in my home back in October. The repair job, done after a leak in my roof caused by their nails caused my ceiling to become soaked and begin leaking into my dining room. They sent two inept workers over to replace the Sheetrock and paint the ceiling. They left an eye sore. Paint doesn't match. Spackle job is awful. I'm getting no satisfaction from Tesla customer care. They refuse to acknowledge that they even sent people to my house to repair the roof and ceiling! Basically called me a liar. I've been more than patient. It's time for a lawsuit. I'm filing a small claim to pay to have the ceiling refinished and repainted. Do NOT hire these people. They don't care once you sign on the dotted line. read more

Teslas customer service is ridiculous. I wish I can give it under 1 star. Starting last year we had a leak and asked for the panels to be removed. We had to jump through hoops to get the panel removed, and trying to get our panels back on is another hurdle. They appoint a person to us (Tanisha Thomas) and she never response back to us via email as per her email and no contact number. Since Tesla would not take accountability of the errors of the company that took over, we had our roof replaced. Now it has take well over 2 months to have our panels put back on. We had 3 appointments to get our panels installed - June (the installers ran away when it drizzled), July 18 to get the rest of the house done (ok can't control the weather) and the installer stated they're coming back on July 22. And of course no call, no show and the customer service decided to blame us when we as the customer have confirmation that they're supposed to be here on July 22. If you can go to another solar company, do it cause Tesla is not the company to do with, cause I didn't have a choice. read more

I would not recommend installing Tesla solar panels on your home. We purchased our home in 2017 and the panels were installed in 2013 with a 20 year lease paid in full. We did not have a copy of the solar contract until after we purchased our house. Our roof is now leaking where the brackets for the solar panels were installed. Tesla has terrible customer service and basically said this wasn't their problem - even though they allegedly installed new rafters which is causing the leak. They want to charge us $10K to remove and reinstall the panels which is more than the actual roof repair will cost. Customer service was extremely rude and nasty and was not helpful at all. They refused to even remove the panels completely for free even though they are paid off! Terrible business and poor customer service. read more

It's a scam you will save a little to no money They will put a lien on your home even though they say they will not calling it something else. They make all of their money from subsidies from the government not you. They will not maintain the system as they promise You are stuck with the 20 year lease and they make it virtually impossible to get out of without paying many thousands and thousands of dollars Solar will only account for 30% of your bill and then the only difference in price will be for $.21 a kilowatt to 14 cents so you will only save an average of $30 a month typically. The panels are very heavy on your roof and you will have tons of holes if you ever get it removed. You will not get it removed unless you will pay $10,000 to break a contract. You will be stuck with dealing with transferring a legal contract to a new owner should u sell which will be more issues 10 years from now the panels will be obsolete they will not upgrade them. Well after doing my research on this company and reading some of the reviews I must say I am extremely disappointed with SolarCity (shame on you) to say the least. When I was first asked if I would be interested in solar panels my response was that I couldn't afford those panels. Then I was told that they were government funded....well YEAH sign me up. To make a long story hopefully short, the person I found out (from someone else) was making $250 on their referrals and I thought I too could do that & make money. After contacting a representative (Ty) to come and explain the process to me to say the least after hours of talking with her, weeks of not being satisfied, no proper response from Customer Service, and making numerous calls to her boss (with no response) I figured the best last move would be to report my concern to the top and see where that goes. Keep in mind after signing up several customers and a few 'Ambassadors' to make money and me too, I found out that what was originally discussed with me about the panels, perks, guarantee was not discussed to others. The rep has discussed not only her personal business to me and with others but has lied continuously and when I did in fact speak to Customer Care about my concerns they suggested that I not only cancel out all my referrals but to go through the proper protocol and discuss this with her Manager before they escalate to the higher being(s). Well I am still not satisfied, have not received any call backs from the manager and not to mentioned my work was cancelled without my approval by Ty of which I heard she was told to do so by her boss because I couldn't make up my mind. SERIOUSLY????? Who does that??!! Now that I've read SNF's review with all the leak issues after their install, SolarCity can keep their panels. If people I refer to want to take the risk of which I will let them know in advance...then go for it. In whole....the customer service portion of this company really 'sucks' don't have the panels so I can't say anything from my perspective on that, just don't trust them at all and anything free costing that much money can't be good government funded or not. The sales ppl in this company are like tele marketers,sharp, schrew, cunning, and liars. i will try and condense, orig we were told we would save 80% on are bill. after the system got going 2 mos. 1st bill average,2nd bill 5/16 $200.00+ ,3rd bill $25.00, next $0.00 next $35.00 , next $280.00, and so on, called them up to complain got nowhere fast. I had Solar City install their panels on my house in Bay Shore, Long Island, N.Y. last December. The installers were great. However, they forgot to put 2 antennas on the bottom of the 2 inverters that are on the side of my house. So far I have made quite a few phone calls to Kevin Babcock and he hasn't done a thing!! He is the inside energy consultant. It took them over 2 months to send me 1 antenna. I am still waiting for the 2nd antenna to arrive. Without the antenna, you don't know how much electric you are producing. I am at a point that everybody I speak to, makes promises to me, but nobody calls you back. Kevin Babcock, hasn't returned my e-mails or phone calls. Add Ryan and Jay to that list. They work at Customer Care. I will let everybody know if and when I will receive the antenna. Meanwhile, today, I was promised that they will look into it and will get back to me, again! This is the 1st time that I spoke to an "Aaron." Let's see if he is a man of his word.
