This post is not about SolarCity Martinez - it is Solar City in General If Yelp allows NO STAR i would've picked that just for wasting my time. I was approached by SolarCity Several time at Best Buy Pinole, Finally one day I listened the Ken. it made since to me so I made an appointment I got a very knolagable guy come to the house and ran the numbers and the credit bla bla bla.. so i continued with them. the guy has good communication skills came by the house explained everything answered all my questions. scheduled a survey - guy comes in took a look a the Attic, went on the roof spend have a day taking picture ... approved what he saw. I thought we were done. another visit at the house run through the numbers again approve the design... by then i am exhausted and ready for them to start the installation. i signed the first contract, approved, revised contract, singed and approved, Third time is a charm another revision on the contract , went throughout it and approved, a few days later we get an email to sign the contract again, we look the contract and the payment has jumped close to 25% - think about 25% increase for 30 year that is massive. so i called my guy and said what is going on. He blamed it on some bullshit story about California new regulations - so i replied right when i signed California decided to do do something that increases my Monthly payment by 25% so i told him to cancel the whole thing until further notice. i ran in the Salesperson in best buy and he said let me fix it and i'll get back to you ... he even told me legally when you sign a contract base on a quote it is good for 30 days no matter what. but I figured it is their loss to mine. i was a good prospect agreed and signed everything they asked me but the SCREWED IT ALL UP. be careful. I just cannot believed How much time was wasted during this whole project that went belly up. read more

I am a real estate agent selling a home with a leased Solar City system on the roof. Solar City is completely holding up the deal and in my opion lowering the value of the property. Think long and hard before you put a leased solar system on your home, if you are thinking about selling your home in the future. It's not much different than leasing out any other part of your home. I don't like leaving a bad review, but Solar City have devalued my clients home. read more

Just had my solar transfer installation done yesterday and I gotta say they did a bang up job! James, Sam, Joe and the Zeus Crew are indeed pros when it comes to installing solar. I arrived home after dropping off my kids to see them already halfway unloading their trucks with ladders already on the roof set up. They wasted no time and did an excellent job of a clean indoor inverter install. They even tied the solar cut off breakers to my existing main breaker. Except for the solar panels themselves, all that showed on the exterior wall was about a 15 feet EMT line that came from the roof and down through the garage wall. Unlike in my previous home, I don't have the eyesore inverter and pull down cut off switch outside anymore. If you ever need a solar installation done by Solar City in the Contra Costa area, I highly recommend the "Zeus" Crew. They even cleaned up after themselves! We just had our solar panels installed by Solar City aprox. 10 days ago, waiting for final hook-up with P.G.&E. My Solar City rep. Jon Irwin was very patient with me thru out the complete process. I was very determined to lease out the right system that was correct for my house as well as the needs that I had for kilowatt hrs. - now and for the future. Jon hung in there with me for almost 4 months, explaining and answering all of my questions that I had. Finally I agreed to a system, had it installed and now waiting for hook-up. The installation team was outstanding, did a professional job and accomplished all of my requests I had. Looking forward to the savings in the future from going solar. Horrible experience with SolarCity. We had SolarCity install 40 solar panels on our home two years ago. We opted for the Solar Purchase Plan where they install the system at no charge, and we pay them a low rate for our electricity. However, prior to installation (and after the inspection and contract was signed), we were informed that they could not install the panels on our tile roof, so they would need to remove the tiles where the panels were to be installed and replace the tile with composite asphalt shingles at a cost to us of $10,000.00. We refused and walked away from the deal. They came back in a few weeks and agreed to do the work at no additional charge to us. We agreed to have the work done. SolarCity hired a roofing contractor to do the work and once complete, they installed the solar system. Since the installation, we have saved approximately 50% on our electricity charges, and we are pleased with the result. But then the problems began. With all of the heavy rain this year, the roof began to leak in our bedroom and family room in early December under the area where the solar panels were installed. We called them and they sent out two of their employees and could find no problems. More rain, more leaks. Called again and they sent out two roofers who spent about an hour and said they fixed it. Next rain, the roof still leaked, and they sent out more roofers who spent an hour or so and said they found the leak, however the roof still leaked as bad as before. We called our sales rep. again and he referred the problem to their customer service department. We received a call from a customer service person and she said open a trouble ticket and someone from their operations team would call within an hour. We never received a call, and no ticket was ever opened. Frustrated, I wrote a two-page letter to Mr. Toby Corey who is SolarCity's President of Global Sales and Customer Experience. I sent the letter overnight mail detailing the problem I was having. It was received at their headquarters the on February 11th, and to this day, I have never received a response. Finally, I hired a roofing contractor to inspect the roof and discovered the roofers SolarCity hired completely botched the job. It took two days and $1,700.00 to repair the roof. We took pictures of the botched installation that clearly showed the roof was not installed properly. I sent the pictures and invoice to SolarCity on March 7th. I didn't even ask them to repair the drywall in the two rooms. Finally a month later, I received a call from them, and they said a check would be issued to me and I should receive it in 5 to 7 business days. It's now been 12 days and no check has been received. Called again, and they said they were working on it. Bottom line, this has been the worst customer service I have ever experienced. It appears to me that once SolarCity installs your system - they are done with you. I recommend anyone considering doing business with SolarCity thinks twice about it. The installation may go fine, but good luck getting them to respond should anything go wrong. read more

I had my Solar Panels installed on Thursday March 9th. The installation crew with James and team Zeuss arrived on time and went to work right away installing my panels and equipment. They were professional and worked hard all day to complete the installation. James also installed a Nest thermostat and went the extra mile when a complication with my system occurred. To date I am very pleased with the service I have received from Solar City. I have been able to follow the process on the APP which has been helpful. I always love how negative reviews appear to be a novel. I have a positive review, so it will be short and sweet! These guys have been great! Keri Richards, our rep, was patient and explained each step of the process in great detail. She even stopped by on inspection day to make sure that we had all of our questions answered. Wanda James in customer service was also wonderful.Even though we grilled her with so many questions, she was polite, proactive and downright funny! It is pretty rare that I can give a five-star rating for customer service, but full stars are deserved here. read more

Jeff Flinker and the OCEANUS Crew did an amazing job installing our system. I dont remember all of their names unfortunately but they were all incredibly professional, courteous and efficient. They were very conscious and respectful that they were in someones home throughout the process which my wife and I really appreciated. We don't have any systems on the front of the homes where I live so I was concerned about the system aesthetics. They did exactly what I had hoped for. Very clean, neat install. They hid the wiring the way I asked, checked with me throughout the process if there was ever any question about how we would like something done, I highly recommend and thank them for their work Jonathan Canero has been our main contact/Representative at SolarCity. He has been extremely helpful with all my questions and changes while deciding on what system to install. I research everything very thoroughly and ask endless questions and he was patient and well informed. Jonathan has given me great advice throughout the process and was always able to answer or find answers promptly when I asked. He advocated for me with his company when I wanted something changed or different then planned. I have been called several times by Solar City to set up appointments even though I am on the Do Not Call list. Any company that would blatantly flaunt such a basic law would also cut corners on your roof and ignore the building codes. I recommend against letting a company, that stoops to calling anyone they can to interrupt home life, into your house, let alone do any work on it. read more

I called SolarCity with questions about going solar for my residence. Their customer service was friendly and prompt. A couple days later Matt Butcher showed up to present SolarCity's system. He was professional and knowledgeable on all aspects of the system. He was well aware of the current events surrounding the solar industry and was able to break down the more complex aspects of solar in to an understandable form. My wife and I thought he was very respectful and didn't pressure us in any way. He left the decisions up to us and patiently waited as we took over a month to decide what we were going to do, never bothering us in the mean time. Employees like Matt Butcher are what give big companies a human face and make uncertain customers feel certain about their decisions. Good job Matt! read more

Customer service sucks. I originally kept having issues with my system shutting down (thus not producing any power) and giving error codes. I called and they asked for the error codes. Standing in sun, I had to re-read the codes to the reject on the phone several times because he was apparently not smart enough to write them down as I read them off. (several times) This process repeated itself over and over each time the system went down. I finally got sick of standing in the sun over and over to read the codes and told them to just send someone out and fix the damn thing. They refused. "We can't send someone out unless you give us the codes first." Ridiculous. I now have to check the thing every day to make sure I am producing power and the system has not shut down again. With their "remote monitoring" you'd think they would know there was a problem and notify me. (and maybe be able to fix it remotely, or automatically dispatch someone to fix it) Now they can't even get the billing right. You are forced to sign up for auto pay unless you want to pay a monthly $7.50 service fee. Last month they debited my account (remembering this is set up for auto pay) a few days late. My statement the following month showed that the previous months bill had not been paid. (it had of course) I immediately called and they apologized and said their billing system had changed and that I would only be charged the current charges, since the previous months bill had in fact been debited from my account already. Well, the current months bill just hit my account along with last months charges which were already paid. I called again. They of course apologized. Now instead of crediting the overpayment back to my bank account, they are going to keep my money and credit it to NEXT months bill. I'm not hurting for money, but that is just not good customer service. read more

Everyone was dedicated and concerned with the quality of customer service..Very happy so far and waiting to save a lot of money! The county Assessors just sent me a "assessment"form to fill out for a solar system never installed. Thats the way this review starts. Months ago Solar City provided a estimate for PV solar on my home. I had 4 requirements and all 4 were things Solar City could not do. That ended the process with Solar City for me. HOWEVER then the constant phone calls started coming. I would block the number but they would call from a different number. Additionally I was constantly getting robo calls and emails. I finally had to call them and demand they stop. They wanted to turn me over to different people along the way to get this stopped. They agreed but insisted I fill out a form explaining why. Seriously? AND the emails continued... with a expectation for me to fill out a customer service review. So back to my first statement... The tax assessor wants to change my property tax based on the forms I was sent. Solar City had pulled permits (with permit numbers on the forms) for work that did not and was not going to happen. I contacted Solar City with the end of the conversation coming down to I could contact the assessors office to get this corrected. More work for me for a service I never received. What you chose to do is up to you but think long and carefully before you even get a proposal from them. read more

Our solar went up recently and the process was so amazingly smooth. Our rep Wyatt was with us before, during, and even way after it was all said and done. I cannot tell you how happy I am with the personalized care we received. From being accommodating to our family's schedule (IE: baby's nap time) to rescheduling to dates that were more convenient for us. It never felt like we were being sold something, never once did I feel like we were being misinformed or being led on. It wasn't about the money for Wyatt. It was about the service and the relationship. Which is rare nowadays. If you decide to do solar, contact Wyatt. He and his amazing team will not let you down. The team that installed and measured everything were super polite and considerate. Hands down the best "retail experience" I have ever had. Not only did we get solar, which in itself is a plus, we were appreciated for our time and treated with care. Well I've had my solar panels for a 1 year and 3 months now. Over that year time I have now developed three leaks in my roof because of poor installation. The first time I called last year they were here right away and it someone fix the problem but as you can remember we had no rain last year, well this year I developed a second leak and it took them 3 days to get to my house to fix this leak. Now my roof is leaking again and they were out right away to look at the problem and I look like they reposition the brackets for the solar panel. Came home from work and looked above the garage and now I see four brand new holes in my roof. I thought these guys were professionals but obviously they are not!!! I guess they hired a bunch of clowns from the Home Depot parking lot, that is my own personal opinion on the craftsmanship on the way they installed these panels. I will let you know how this third repair job does. I've also contacted my insurance company because this was a brand new roof when they put these panels on there and now I have a feeling that I'm going to have a lifelong problem we'll see. read more

Solar City installed panels on my roof 2.5 years ago., July 2014. When the sales person was in our home, he stated that they inspected our roof and it was good to install the panels. Before we signed on, my husband asked if when we need a new roof, would they remove the panels at no charge. The man stood in my home and said that there would be no charge. In the winter of 2015, we noticed a couple of small bubbles in our walls. Because of the drought, it was barley noticeable. NOW winter 2016,we have had lots of rain and now we have large bubbles running down the walls below where the panels sit. We have hired a contact to repair our roof. We have had three estimates, one from a solar company and all stated that Solar City should not have put those panels on my roof in the condition that it is in. We needed a new roof years before they install the panels. NOW they want to charge me $499 to remove the panels in order to get my roof installed. The installation is scheduled for the 20th of March. Although I have disputed the charge, I still signed the form in order to get the panels off in time for a $12K committed job. They refuse to give me a date. They want me to resign the form I already signed. Why? Nothing changes on it except the e-signature date. Unless they added something to the new document in which they refused to give me an explanation. stating I disputed the charge and was denied. Well it don't say that I disputed on the document that i signed already so I am not signing anything else with this company. $500 may not be a lot of money to some, but it is a LOT to me. read more
