Staff: Of the many many times I've come in, I've always had a good experience. I'm surprised I have never reviewed them before. This weekend was approached by Alysa who was friendly. She asked my child if they had a toy Tesla to which I replied yes, we had the matchbox ones. She said do you want a real one. Of course we did. Low and behold she returns with the collectible Model 3 and gave it to us. These are the same ones that day 1 reservation holders got way back on 3/2016. What service! We went to the Shops at Mission Viejo dealership on a Saturday afternoon, and as can be expected, they were quite busy. After looking at the Model Y, we were able to speak with Hilary. When the car was delivered, I had called the dealership because I could not access my car. I was lucky enough to get a hold of Hilary again. My three-star rating reflects a mix of good and disappointing experiences. Let's start with the bad. The Bad: My wife and I weren't planning to buy when we visited the Tesla showroom in Mission Viejo, but after a test drive, the sales associate showed us a Model Y with a tow hitch priced the same as one without a hitch. The associate said that's a great deal and made us feel lucky one was available, especially at the same price. It seemed like a good deal, so we decided to buy. However, after using the app and reviewing our purchase, we discovered an unexpected additional charge of $1,000 for the tow hitch. This was significant given that $1,000 isn't a small amount for us. When I contacted the dealership, they seemed just as confused about what happened and couldn't provide any explanation. They offered no satisfactory solution--either keep the hitch at the extra cost or cancel the order and wait indefinitely for a cheaper model without a hitch. Neither option felt right, especially since it was repeatedly emphasized to us that prices could change again at any moment. The main issue here is how the prices of the cars are presented. The prices include interior color, exterior color, wheel size, etc. However, the tow hitch apparently isn't included in that price, and there is no indication of that, nor was it stated to us we'd see an additional cost of $1,000. If it were clearly shown or described to us, this wouldn't have become the issue that it did. Kailee, the supervisor, was involved but was ineffective in addressing our concerns. A gesture such as waiving the hitch fee, offering a free charging cable, or even extending our free self-driving trial would have gone a long way. Unfortunately, nothing was done, and what should have been an exciting purchase turned sour. Clearly, customers aren't very important to Tesla, especially after they start the purchase process. The Good: On the brighter side, Carlos, our sales associate, was attentive and patient, especially considering our young child was with us. He seemed genuinely interested in helping but was limited by company policies, which speaks to larger issues at Tesla regarding customer support. I just wish he had pushed his supervisor more to fix the issue. Final Thoughts: An extra $1,000 might seem trivial to some, but it is significant for us. It's disheartening that Tesla didn't seem to value our business enough to rectify their mistake despite many ways to do so. We enjoyed the service from Carlos, but the overall experience was marred by poor post-sale support. As new Tesla owners, we expected better, and unfortunately, this experience has us looking at other electric vehicle manufacturers for our next car. Conclusion: I can't recommend going to this location or purchasing a Tesla. Sadly, this is coming from a brand-new Tesla owner. read more

5 stars for JUST being able to speak to Nathaniel! My husband and I were at the mall just walking around as we waited for some drink orders that we had downstairs that said would take a while. We didn't even know there was a Tesla location here since we aren't from the area. We came in wanting to take a closer look at the Model Y since it was on display and we actually had just placed an order for one a couple weeks prior. We were superficially greeted by one lady that was working there, however she didn't seem too interested in talking to us more than asking if we needed anything. She was even more less interested when we shared that we actually already ordered the vehicle but had a couple questions and was just looking. I was told before that they don't work off commission but I'm not 100% sure but she clearly did not care to work, commission or not. She wasn't very knowledgeable and was very minimal and almost rude/not welcoming at all in answering some questions that my husband had and didn't try very hard to do so. Once it got past the awkwardness of her not being able to answer, we just drifted to looking more at the display car and that's when Nathaniel said hi to us and from there on, we were having a full on conversation with him that was not only very informative about the vehicle that we were looking forward to but also very personable. He was very enthusiastic and even congratulated us on making the move to get the car, telling us we'll love it (which we know we will since we've been eyeing it for a while now) and making us actually more excited about it coming! My husband asked him the same questions and more that he had previously asked the other lady and Nathaniel went above and beyond to answer with extra info and more. We spent so much time talking to Nathaniel that our drinks orders actually ended up waiting for us to be picked up. I almost left in the middle just to get it so we didn't feel as rushed to end our conversation with Nathaniel. When we left, my husband literally said that if he hadn't already ordered the car, he would've finalized wanting to get it more from speaking to Nathaniel, but definitely would not have cared to get it if we had only interacted with the first lady who spoke to us. I finally test drove a Tesla yesterday. I have been on the fence about leaving BMW and going to a fully electric vehicle. I definitely wanted a car that is more upper echelon, so I thought I would give Tesla a try. The store itself is exactly what you would expect from Tesla... clean, modern, minimalist and straight to the point. It definitely follows Elon Musk's guiding principle of do more with less. I must say that all of the staff here is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. However, for the price point you are looking at to buy a model S or a model X, the experience is absolutely lacking. I suppose I have much higher expectations for sevice once you cross a threshold in price on a vehicle, and this is where Tesla absolutely misses the mark. As much as I wanted to love the car and the experience I simply did not. I will continue to look for electric but will try Porsche and BMW as I feel the service should be on par with the amount of money you are spending. I don't feel Tesla will be offering the type of concierge service I have grown accustomed to. read more

Love my Tesla Model 3, but I despise this store and the lack of customer service we received during our vehicle purchase process (Dec 2019). Tesla makes wonderful cars but has no respect or concept of making the customer happy or catering to the customers needs. My story started with casually shopping around for a new EV car to replace my Fiat 500e. I knew that the Tesla Model 3 is the best value at this price point which provides you with decent range and great looks. Tesla did not need to sell me on the car. However, i did want to get acquainted with the car so i came to the store to be set up with a test drive. After coming to the store, an associate was able to hook us up with a test drive and they were kind enough to let us keep the car overnight. This would give us a little more time to drive the car since we already had come during the evening. The associate also urged us to make a decision soon, since they had a final deadline before end of December to get their orders in if you wanted to be eligible for the tax credit of $1875. We were obviously rushed, but we appreciated that the associate made note of this. We wanted to be eligible for a tax credit! After test driving the car and taking it overnight, we came in the next day and decided to put in the paperwork for the purchase. According to the sales associate, you would have to order by Dec 7 or 8 to be eligible for the tax credit. Since we were ordering 2 days before that, we were assured that we would get the car delivered by the end of the year and get our tax credit. Well, if only that was what happened! Instead, we went for a wild roller coaster ride and did not receive our car until March 3rd. We were waiting for our car for almost 3 months! Ludicrous. This was all because Tesla had poor planning and did not expect such a huge surge of orders before the end of year. Not only did they deliver the car to us extremely late, but as a result, we were no longer eligible for the tax credit. To top it off, they did not offer to reduce the purchase price by 1875 to make it up to us or offer us any other bells or whistles or add-ons to make up for our loss. Imagine if you had no other car to drive for 3 months while waiting for your new car to roll in, when you were told it would come by the end of the month. It was all extremely inconvenient. What I did not understand was why they could not tell their customers that they failed to plan properly and could not get them their vehicles in time. There was no announcement or admission from Tesla that they could not deliver on their promise. When calling in to inquire about our order, we were always told something new. Some associates would tell us our vehicle has not been built yet, but tell us to call back in a few days. Other associates would tell us our vehicle is about to be built. Half the time, they would not even pick up their phone lines despite which phone number you tried calling! The store manager at the Mission Viejo store (Russel) could not give us any concrete answers, offers, or even a meaningful apology for our inconvenience. In fact, multiple Tesla associates just kept telling us "You are free to cancel your order". They really could not care less! We kept getting texts saying we we will get our car delivered in 2-4 weeks, then another text saying it will take another 2-4 weeks. The whole thing was a nightmare. Not to mention, with getting pre-approved for a loan, I was days away from the 90 day mark and if i received my car any later, I would have to apply again and have my credit score checked again. All in all, horrible car buying process. Finally, when we did get our car, we were faced with associates at the Costa Mesa facility who were all young and seemed inexperienced. There was no senior manager or anyone with real sales experience who could cater to our concerns. We were given the car and had the most brief 2 second introduction to it before we were told to drive off. I would hope that Tesla would take greater regard for their customer's satisfaction and car buying experience and hope to make things right. In the end, we were only offered 1 year of free supercharging which seems petty compared to how long we had to wait to get our car. In addition, depending on your situation, you could be offered more things to make up for your loss but no one was treated uniformly. I urge car shoppers to be wary of the fine print when purchasing a Tesla. Your wait time can be a few days to a few months of waiting for your car. I wish I could say I had a more pleasant car buying experience, but i know a lot of people were in the same boat I was in when buying their cars last November/Dec 2019. read more

My father was promised a free set of black wheels if he purchased the X before the end of the month. He placed the order. The night before he was supposed to go pick up the car the manager calls and says the wheels are no longer included but he can come pick up the car and pay for the wheels. He has multiple texts stating the wheels were included and he mentioned that and the manager had the audacity to say if he didn't have the money for the wheels then he shouldn't have bought the car. Money is not the issue. The fraudulent sales tactic is. She also told him she had a list of people to call to inform them their X would not be coming with the promised wheels. I called this location as I have been having issues with my vin number not properly reflecting the accurate trim of my car online through other auto sales platforms. I notified the DMV and was told that this was an error on Tesla's part. I spent countless hours calling multiple numbers and departments only to get passed around. Finally, I was told over the phone that it would be best to contact the local dealer on the area and they have the ability to escalate this to rectify the matter. I called this location and spoke with Kaley, the manager, on June 25. She expressed she was unsure of how to fix the issue but ensured that she would look into it and call me back with an update. Of course, that didn't happen which is par for the course with Tesla these days. I didn't necessarily expect her to fix it but I do expect her to honor her word to a customer and look into it, especially when the blame falls on Tesla. I've had 4 Tesla's in my time and was an early adopter. I am now in the process of selling my last Tesla and will never purchase another vehicle from them. I was told wait time on model Y would be 6 months when I put my deposit a year ago. Every time I get a delivery date, the date comes, I log into my account, and the date gets pushed back a few months. Now they are telling me I have to wait another 4 months for delivery. 1 year and 4 months wait time! Something isn't right here. Im not getting any answers when I call to find out whats going on. Just mixed messages. Seems very disorganized. update: Just for fun I called a salesperson and said I was interested in buying a model Y performance and asked what the expected wait time would be.
