    Charging up
    Penny P.

What's up: Pea Soup! Who wants some pea soup?! Me, not really, I'm more of a Clam Chowder kind of gal, but this was a stop for us to charge up our car. So I guess, the car ate here instead of us :) Parking: There are 12 back-in charging stations and they are located towards the back of the parking lot, on the west side of the building. Environment: This charging location was convenient since it's located right off the 5 FWY. There's not too much to do nearby other than browsing around Pea Soup Andersen's. It's easily recognizable off the freeway with its unique windmill building. Restrooms are accessible and can be found towards the right of the building shortly after entering. They have a lot of items and souvenirs that you can purchase; it has a super touristy feel. Yay/Nay/Meh: Yay. Convenient charging location and a place to kill time while the car charges up. Maybe grab some pea soup or a Danish pastry while you're at it!

This antique structure is next to the charging station.

This station supplied an ample number of superchargers. We chose one that was out-of-order, but there was no note on the station nor on our screen indicating it was out of order. If you are there during the working-hour day you will be happy to find many restaurants and stores a short walk away. BUT BEWARE IF YOU USE THIS 24 HOUR STATION AFTER HOURS. THERE IS NO BATHROOM FACICLTY. You will find the chargers in a dusty, dark back lot of the main street behind Andersen's Pea soup.

    Drive slowly! Kitty crossing!

As the Duke of Tesla Supercharger in Gustine, I have a huge complaint. This place needs a bathroom! Walking to the Love gas station in order to find a bathroom is unacceptable. I feel for the kitties which are starving and homeless. So I feed them whenever I charge my Tesla! Feed the !

Just behind Anderson's Split pea soup are the hidden Superchargers. It's a bit of a walk to other fast food places. You will have to Yelp to see what's around. The parking lot with feral cats is a little unkempt however the restrooms at Anderson's were ok. Walk around, stretch your legs and get some steps in. We charged up and headed on out on our Tesla road trip journey! Peace.

Not the nicest or fastest but they are very convenient. Bonus for being able to grab a Danish from the bakery while we charged.

This is a great Tesla supercharging station to stop at on your trip. They have 12 stations right next to Pea Soup Anderson's for a bathroom break and some food - even a bar with TVs! We have been coming to this station for years and it's never been full, including weekends. Usually we are the only car there. Today, there are 5 cars on a Sunday afternooon. It's a great place to stop, charge and recharge!

    Oh yeah!

Conveniently located off the freeway. A bit sketchy at night though. Located to amenities that seem nice to visit during daylight.

Great place to charge with 341 mph fast charge to get us back on the road in 25 min. There is an Anderson's soup place, if you're hungry.

Back then, we would order the Fettuccine Alfredo and the New York Style Cheesecake and I remember really liking it. I visited here present day and loved how absolutely nothing changed about the place. Our server, Gabriela was very nice and friendly and was attentive to all our needs. The gift shop still remains and the ambiance transports you back in time. I am very glad nothing has changed about this place. I decided to try something different and ordered the Mushroom Swiss sandwich with a side of pea soup. My husband ordered the Andersen's Chicken Sandwich with french fries on the side. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals. It was time for dessert, and I confidently asked for the Cheesecake. I was then told that it was discontinued from the menu as of 6 months ago. I was sad. But nonetheless, still enjoyed my meal! I can't wait until the next time I come back!

This place is definitely deserving of the honor…read more I've been coming here for years and years, sometimes driving down from Sacramento just to have lunch How have I never written a review? There used to be five different pea soup Andersen's, now this is the last one. The original, near Solvang, had to close because of the condition of the building, just shy of its hundredth birthday. When it is redeveloped, they hope to put a version of the restaurant back in. The place is a lot of fun. They have souvenirs, chatchkis, all kinds of different food items... you can buy the dried peas with a recipe card, or they also sell their soup in a can. . The canned soup tastes just like the restaurant. They have the original, but they also have a canned soup with bacon. The bacon is pulverized, so there are no chunks of it in the soup, but you can definitely taste it. It plays off of the pea soup so well. The soup they sell in the restaurant is made fresh, not canned, . They have a bar, dining room, and a coffee shop. Most people eat in the coffee shop. The coffee shop has a big menu, but of course the star is the pea soup. You can get the "travelers special", which is all you can eat pea soup, with all the fixins, and your choice of beverage, including a milkshake if you want one. The soup they serve in the restaurant, is both vegetarian and vegan, but you can't tell. It is amazingly rich, and creamy. The prices are reasonable and when you check out of the restaurant, they also have cookies, pastries, and even some candies. A nice upsell for dessert. Both the chocolate chip, and the white chocolate macadamia cookies are my favorite.... I'll be back. Thanks.

I've never booked a room here, but we would meet up with our friends from Madera at this hotel since their place is too far for me to drive. Yesterday, I discovered a really cool greenhouse and a charming wine museum I had never seen before. There's no charge to enter the wine room, but you need a key card from the lobby to access it. Additionally, there's a cute, small pet park for furry friends. The hotel also features a pond filled with colorful koi fish and another pond with waterfalls. We spotted an adorable turtle just hanging out with some fake ducks. There are a couple of areas with fire pits, and there's even a rose garden. I found a spot where you can play bocce and horseshoes. The courtyard is definitely fun to explore, and the restaurant's view is fantastic. I also learned about a bar called The Lounge. I tried the food at the Kitchen for breakfast and lunch yesterday. The service was slow on both occasions. We had to wait for ten minutes because the staff member at the desk said the server would return by then. I asked if they could seat us while we waited for her break to finish, but we decided to stay anyway. Regardless, the food was excellent both times, so the restaurant kicks ass even though the service doesn't. There are many places to visit outside the hotel. The Korean Memorial is nearby, but we skipped it yesterday. Instead, we discovered a few parks with trails that offer beautiful views of the hills and the San Luis Reservoir. We also visited the Romero Overlook Visitors Center, where you can learn about the water system and the area's history. I'm sure there are more things to do in the area, but that was all we had time for during our adventure yesterday.

This visit happened to fall on Mother's Day weekend. We had reservations for both Saturday and Sunday, but we stopped in on Saturday to cancel that day's reservation since we'd already eaten lunch and knew we wouldn't be hungry by dinnertime. On Sunday, when we checked in for our reservation, I was impressed -- the hostess remembered us by name, which says a lot considering how many guests come through the restaurant. We were seated, and soon after we were greeted by Eleanor, our server. She was warm, attentive, and never made us feel pressured, which was a huge improvement from a previous visit. She answered every question I had, including how they cook a medium‑rare steak (every chef has their own interpretation, lol). She also gave an honest answer when I asked whether the vegetables used at dinner come from their greenhouse. The service felt genuine, and the food was excellent -- a much better experience than my last review. This visit was absolutely worth the return. Kudos to Eleanor and the Kitchen at The Mission.

The staff aware all polite and helpful. I had to wait a bit longer than expected but I grabbed the pizzas and took them to the car and was first of all shocked at how beautiful the pizza was. I got the California veggie pizza without mushrooms and added pepperoni, with gluten free crust. My husband got the same but not gluten free. This was one of the best gluten free pizzas I've EVER had. Everything as clearly freshly made. Amazing. Sad it's so far away from where I live!
