I am uncertain whether it's a results of the Tesla layoffs or simply inadequate maintenance support. But I wasted 30 minutes this morning, trying to charge my vehicle at two different stations both of which do not work. Given that this is such a busy location and very difficult to maneuver, very hard to move from charging station to charging station without having someone else cut in. The location used to be perfect, a Starbucks used to be across the street making it very convenient for a morning stop. But not sure it's worth it anymore. The other frustration is that I will spend at least an hour and a half on hold calling Tesla support to notify them that they have two stations down when I'm certain they can see that they're down. as of this post, charging stations 3B and 5B are not operational. This is smallish charging station which is a v2 with 150 kW charging speed. There's not a lot to do while you wait in this area, hence the 4 star. I decided to wait outside and was approached by a person who made a joke about how awkward it is at a charging station since no one wants to talk and everyone is just on their phone. It ended up being the beginning of a great conversation and I made a friend. He inspired me to be more social. read more

Exit Shoreline off the 101 freeway. This supercharger is conveniently located near the Google campus and behind the Computer History Museum on Pear Ave. You will find a dozen superchargers available. Cars often come and go and there's usually a spot. The parking area is a bit tight, but with all the bells and whistles on the Tesla it is definitely manageable. Within walking distance you will find a 7-Eleven, Starbucks, Voya and Cucina Venti if you want to stop by to grab something to eat or drink. On Friday late afternoons, the food trucks are parked at the Computer History museum, so you can always grab a bite to eat while your car is charging. read more

Awesome but 'super' busy station if you are in need to supercharge your T. Conveniently right off the Shoreline exit from the 101. Well lit, and provides 12 stations. Located on the side of the Computer History Museum, also within walking distance to a Starbucks, 7-Eleven, and several other eateries to stop by while waiting. Also, right across the street from a Century Theaters as well. (Note: please DON'T be a douche and leave your car here and go off to watch a movie. That's not how it's supposed to be done.) Although equipped with 12 stations, this particular spot is busy all the time. Even dropped by here to charge around midnight some days, and there was still a line present. There are (many) times of the day when the wait extends to at least 8 cars, which is a bit too much. Elon, please help fix this situation! Despite the long lines and slow station (at times can take almost 2 hours to fully juice up), the community is great and I love stepping out and talking to other folks about their T's. Trust me when I say, everyone has a great story to tell, but you won't know until you start conversing! Occasionally may see some of the first 3's out on the road that stop by to supercharge. If you're lucky, you'll see them! Pro tip: To avoid long lines, check your T map to check beforehand if any stations are available in this location prior to stopping by. Otherwise, there is another station in San Mateo, or at the manufacturing center in Fremont. Superchargers to come in Sunnyvale by the Target! Stay tuned! read more

Excellent spot before 4pm. We walked (4 min) to Perla Baking for brunch - excellent! Vegetarian friendly. Great place to walk dogs. Sleepy, cute town during the day. I gave this 4 stars because we stopped at night on the way to The beach and there was no bathroom/vending in sight. read more

The future is here. Finally there's another supercharge station other than just the Fremont and gilroy area. The place is right beside the computer museum which is a good place to visit while charging up. The parking area is smaller compared to the gilroy one. It does get packed and tight with teslas waiting to charge. When the model x comes out hopefully they put more stalls because it seems like this place is very popular because it is in the middle of the Silicon Valley. There's a movie theater and a Starbucks with in walking distance. Thanks tesla for another supercharge station. read more

However, the convenience and nearby amenities (e.g. Starbucks) makes this a great location. I'm not sure why it says "reduced availability" in the Chargers menu. read more

Sadly this station required an attendant as these stations are quickly becoming overwhelmed. There are several reasons but the vexing one particular is the "park and watch a movie or go to work" minority's of drivers. My regular charging is done at OTHER than a Supercharger. I love this company and its people, but the Model 3 is going to crush this network intended for long range travel or occasional 20 minute charges. The attendant here is very polite and friendly. The location is just OK. 5 Model S's in the que. Yikes!! read more

If I could rate this location lower than a 1, I would. This supercharger is *way* too busy during commute hours, and *desperately* needs an attendant in the evenings. I've often seen a line of 6+ cars waiting to charge, which translates to waiting for thirty minutes in your car before you can even *start* charging. And during the weekend, you can pretty much forget about charging here. I pulled in today thinking that I would charge for a half hour, and they were lined up almost to the far end of the parking lot. (I would estimate that I was at least the tenth car waiting, which in a twelve-station charger, likely means about an hour wait just to start charging.) I gave up and drove on. I'm just going to have to hope I don't end up stranded. Also, at least a couple of the chargers are flaky, and as a result, when you plug in, your car will tell you that it is going to take 2+ hours to charge. If that happens, don't just accept it; unplug and replug. Doing so will typically result in a more normal 1-hour charge time. Unfortunately, if people don't know to do that, they'll end up charging at half speed and tying up one of the grossly insufficient number of charging stations for even longer. So if you have to wait half an hour at the beginning and then get stuck with a slow charge speed, the worst-case charge time is almost three hours. During evening commute hours, I would recommend avoiding this supercharger at all costs. It is just going to keep getting worse. They desperately need to expand this supercharging station. It should be at *least* *double* its current size, and that's without the Model 3s making the problem worse. Unfortunately, they chose to instead build stations in other places that aren't very practical to most of the people that use this charging station. The Cupertino station is on a different enough route that it is unlikely to have any impact on Mountain View, and the Sunnyvale station is at such a terrible location (up to half an hour excursion from the freeway, thanks to unholy levels of southbound traffic in the evenings) that it is unlikely to even get much use except by locals. With the Model 3 coming out, they really need to either double the number of stalls at this location or add a second Mountain View supercharging station of a similar size--perhaps at CostCo on Rengstorff. Otherwise, in a couple of years, it's going to be really, really bad, to the point of being hopelessly inadequate. * For the curious, the planned Sunnyvale station, located at Target, despite being only six blocks from 101, is often 15+ minutes away during evening commute hours, because 85 SB is almost always a parking lot (~5 MPH), and so everybody uses Mathilda, Mary, Wolfe, and Lawrence Expressway as though they were extra freeway lanes, which also creates secondary backups on all the cross streets (Central Expressway, Maude, El Camino, etc.). That means a 20+-minute round trip (mostly at very slow speeds) from any of the new high-density businesses or residential areas north of 101 (the only parts of Sunnyvale that are really growing at the moment), making it useless not only for long-distance commuters, but also for the majority of people who live and work locally. As a result, the Sunnyvale station can effectively serve only a few of the southern residential parts of Sunnyvale, plus anybody who is willing to take a 30-minute detour off the highway just to shop at that particular Target store. And on weekends, that parking lot is packed, so it will probably be thoroughly ICEd and unusable then, too. The Sunnyvale Target is absolutely the worst location I could possibly imagine within the city of Sunnyvale. I can't imagine why they picked it, unless they just didn't bother to ask anybody who lives in Sunnyvale for their opinions. They should have gotten spaces in the Mercado lot or Mission College, right off the freeway. That location would actually make sense. read more

Perfect place to charge our car after a movie night. It gets full during the day but at night the speeds are great!

I would give this place five stars because it is free and convenient but one star because there are times that the wait is really terrible. As I am entering this review all of the stalls are filled and there is a line of seven cars waiting to get in. read more

The Tesla SuperCharger in Mountain View is the location I have found most useful since buying my Model X a few months back. It's only 7 miles from my office in Santa Clara, so I'll often sneak out early and go here to charge up, climb in the back seat of my car where there's more room and get some work done on my laptop or occasionally cat nap. Lately, however, I have started wandering out of the car to visit with the Tesla team member who manages the parking site. He is awesome and very pleasant to be around. This SuperCharger site has 12 slots available and it's in a very busy tech area where lots of Tesla owners work and reside. It's often over-capacity with lines. The attendant managing the site makes things flow very well. He's a man with great people skills. He marshalls the line for waiting, goes up to owners when they arrive and asks how much power they plan to take, will help them manage expectations for wait times and even suggest shorter charging times to people if things are busy and they are being too greedy and hogging the space. He's also quick to follow up with people who abandon their vehicle in a slot for longer than they should, you know the idiots who plug in and go to dinner for two hours. Their car was ready in 40 minutes and sat there while we all waited. The attendant will visit with them about this. His way is very calm and level headed. I like to stand outside and just visit with him. I don't know if I'm keeping him company or he's keeping me company. A bit of both, I suppose. This SuperCharger site sits in the corner of the parking lot for the tech museum and has a good amount of extra space for waiting, well out of the way of passers-by. One funny thing that happens is that because it's next to the museum, sometimes busses full of tourists will wander over to gawk at our cars while they are charging. Once a bunch of school kids swarmed my car when I was one of the few people charging. So I gave them the tour: opened my falcon wing doors, let them get inside. There was a line of kiddos crawling in and out of my car, loving it. It was fun for me too, I like kids. I had to wash the car after but so what. It's just a car. People are more important. Good place to stop for free juice. read more

This is very conveniently located close to Starbucks, 7-11, Century theater and some other restaurants in the complex. With new charger locations opening up its no longer super busy and the worst I have waited is 15 mins. The wait times have reduced recently to less than 5 mins. read more

Well I guess Tesla knows this is a favorite spot, but not sure why they didn't put more spots. I just got my Tesla (60K) last week. My drive is 45miles but it really takes more than 100miles on the range. So disappointing. I forgot to charge my car last night and now I'm in line for an hr already. Maybe another hr or so to go.. so lesson learned never forget to charge your Tesla as the range on the dashboard is not true at all and getting an easy supercharging if you need it upon emergency is not that much ideal. read more

At the Fremont factory it says this is Tesla's most popular Supercharger Station worldwide, and that is all about location vis-à-vis where lots of Tesla owners live. It is my favorite. There is the Computer Museum and restaurant, a Starbucks, and convenience store nearby. There is also plenty of acreage to stroll while your Tesla charges, if you like. Even though there are often lines of cars waiting during weekdays, they are expertly managed by Mike who is an excellent traffic director, conversationalist, and is very helpful and knowledgeable about the Teslas and recent developments. Although he doesn't work for Tesla, it couldn't have a better ambassador. read more
