What's up: We were in need of a charge after driving all this way to camp out at Joshua Tree. This place was easy to find and super convenient for people visiting the Park like us! Parking: 7 rear-in spots and 1 head-in spot. There was one spot with a broken charger (looked like someone backed into it!) Environment: The chargers are located in the parking lot of the Tortoise Rock Casino. Due to covid, the place was pretty empty so there were plenty of spots available. You could either hang out outside admiring the cool metal tortoise statues sculptures or head on over to the casino. Security will check your temperature before you can enter. Restrooms are available and can be found towards the left of the building shortly after you enter. Yay/Nay/Meh: Yay. Super convenient location and easy to find. Location is well maintained, clean, and you have easy access to facilities at the casino (restrooms, cafe). Other than that, there's not much else to do around here. read more

You're probably coming here because you're visiting Joshua Tree. These chargers are conveniently located at the Tortise Rock Casino parking lot right off the road from the north entrance of JT. The chargers are closest to the road where the giant tortoise is (east entrance), you can't miss them. There are 8 chargers. 7 spots are back in with 1 spot to head in. I kept an eye on these chargers while I as in JT and despite there being only 8 chargers, I never saw that there was a wait for them compared to the one in Indio by the south entrance or in Palm Springs. These chargers support up to 150 kWh. This location is decent because the casino is steps away with clean restrooms and a grill with food offerings. You can of course gamble and drink while you're waiting for your charge. There is security on-premise. read more

This supercharger (like the majority of Tesla SCs) lies in a strategic location: on the Tortoise Rock Casino property in Twentynine Palms. For those that don't have any business in the casino, it's an essential pit stop before visiting Joshua Tree National Park. For those staying further away from the park (ie Palm Springs area), this allows Teslas to get a full charge needed to traverse the park's roads, which can amount to 80-100 miles long and at least 2-3 hours drive time to drive the loop. The casino does have onsite food and restrooms available for last minute needs as there are few restrooms and *no* food opportunities inside the park. Keep in mind that the SC is located near the NORTH entrance to JTNP. As a comparision, the main entrance is actually the WEST entrance, which has the longest lines. If you are planning to do JTNP in a day, it's best to enter through the west entrance (and pay your fee there), head towards the north entrance, leave the park to recharge as well as get food, enter again through the north entrance then head towards the south entrance before exiting the park. This route allows you to hit the major sights on one drive. 2-3 days is even better should you wish to tackle a few trails or go rock climbing, two of the park's well known activities. 8 SCs total, all v2 chargers. Though there is onsite food, my favorite food spot is actually Jelly Donut, less than 2 miles away (https://www.yelp.com/biz/jelly-donut-twentynine-palms?hrid=frTE6PlOZqyMre3MZTAWyA). This is a great supercharger! It's very quiet and doesn't seem to be heavily frequented. As of writing this review there is 8 chargers at this location. It's located in the corner of the Tortoise Rock Casino parking lot. The casino is a good time killer, play some table games, slots, use the very clean bathrooms. It's not the most kid friendly place, though, so maybe just let the little one's loose in the desert to hunt rattlesnakes while you fill out a Win/Loss Statement. There's a small cafe inside with some cheap eats and a vending machine for a snack. There is two drink stations in the casino that are free for patrons with unlimited refills. They are stocked with coffee, tea, and a variety of sodas, so fill up a cup for the road. Cheers! read more

My car was not charged. I came to the supercharger and plugged it in. I bought some candy at the Meijer. And then my car was charged.

Supercharger is at the parking lot of the Tortoise Rock Casino! Wonderful to have one in Twentynine palms. It made our trip of Joshua Tree, Death Valley easy to do !supercharger itself wasn't as fast as some other f the others such as Inyokern or Barstow, but good enough, charging at at an avg of 250 mi/ hr. The casino has free drinks! Coffee was "meh" , have to use with powdered creamer! Facility very clean with good security! read more

This location is easy to find, clean and uncrowded. It's located in the parking lot of the Tortoise Casino. The casino is basic, new, and clean, and offers restrooms, a small cafe, and plenty of slot machines, if that's your thing. Nothing much else, except the Oasis Visitor Center for Joshua Tree National Park is only about 1.5 miles down the road. We charged in about 40 minutes (200+ MPH!), visited the casino briefly to use the restrooms, dropped $10 in a slot machine (of course) and then headed over to the very nice Visitor Center to plan our Joshua Tree hikes. read more

What's going on? Five out of the eight super chargers are taped off and are essentially inoperable. Not sure if Tesla taped them off or the tortoise rock casino. Kind of sucks because you're so far out and if just three are being used, you have to wait. Please fix this! read more
