I booked a regular room with no views online but at the check in desk, I upgraded $40 for the marina view... decided this would keep our toddler entertained. We had lunch at the sky pool because our room was not ready. Lot of people partying in the tub. Uh oh. When we got to our room, it was 12 steps up to the marina view room. I was told this would be a better view and they were not wrong, what a beautiful sight it was ! The best thing about this stay was definitely the view and that was it Room was small, bathroom was tight. You can take a nap on the sink while on the toilet, it's bad. There's a charge for any drinks taken from the mini fridge. There's a lot of space on the balcony. The main problem is the way the hallways are structured, there will be major echoes. And all night long there were guys in the hallways drunk and yelling. We were woken up at 3am by our neighbor pounding on his door, asking his friend to open up for him. Another thing is that the sea lions are noisy all Night long. I was ok with their noise but my husband was not. For me it was the noisy people who are yelling all night long. Lobby bathroom was missing a sink and every stall was dirty, no one flushes and there's turds chilling. Definitely need more of cleaning. Would def stay here again if I was 15 yrs younger. I stayed at El Tesoro in 2024 and was very happy with my experience. Prices were reasonable, and breakfast was included with the stay. The buffet was a nice touch, and overall the value was excellent. This year, however, things have changed. Prices have gone up slightly, and the buffet is no longer included. If you want breakfast, it adds about $40 per night, which means overall the stay is now about $60 more expensive than last year. While still a decent place, the value that made it so attractive before has slipped. The location is convenient, but the hotel itself could use some updates. The rooms are pretty basic, even those considered "luxury." With the recent price increases and fewer included amenities, there are now other options nearby that offer nicer accommodations for a similar price. El Tesoro is still fine, but it seems to be moving away from what made it such a great choice in the past. read more

If you like something that much, it only means you would like to come back again for more. And, so we did. We returned to Hotel Tesoro! My partner and I had been at Hotel Tesoro a couple years ago, right around the time when travelers were still skeptical about traveling to Mexico (or wherever around the country), but it didn't stop us. We took advantage of flight deals to Mexico each month. So, we chose Hotel Tesoro in Cabo and why not. We liked it then and we liked it even better in February. Our long time friends had joined us in Cabo and had the best birthday Cabo 3-day trip ever. We arrived at Hotel Tesoro around 7pm, mid week. We were welcomed by desk staff and got checked in no time. The lobby was open setting, very spacious, nice decor, over all, a pleasant atmosphere. I liked that there was a little mini market at the lobby area. I did not recall seeing it before. Our rooms were nothing to brag about (basic, no balcony, nothing fancy), a little out dated but it was okay for us because we rarely stayed indoor. We were out and about throughout the day and didn't come home until midnight or so. We had some pool and jacuzzi time. It was perfect for the several hours we spent hanging outside, taking in some not-so-heated sun and simply enjoying the view of the marina...sea of Cortez. It was definitely good day for roof top lounging. The Vista Roof restaurant offered complimentary full breakfast buffet. It was exceptional. A nice variety of fresh and delicious foods. The servers, on the other hand, were not so exceptional. What we've experienced and have compared to other all-inclusive full buffet restaurants, the servers at Vista Roof do not have that friendly welcoming attitude. I thought that maybe at least one of them would be a stand out. But no. They have however, approached us only when it was time to sign our name and room number on the check. Nothing more. On that same note, the pool servers weren't exceptional either. From what I recall, there were about 2-3 male servers huddling around the pool bar area. It did not appear that any of servers were concerned or paid any attention to guests in/around the pool unless they were summoned by one of us. They were friendly but not at all attentive. Not sure if that's how pool servers conduct business but from my experience at other resorts, pool servers should always be "working the room" ...there will always be someone at the pool or lounge chairs in need of something. It was annoying having to flag down a server(s) from afar. House keepers were all friendly and polite and would ask if there was anything we needed. Unfortunately, opposite that of the roof top servers at the pool and restaurant. Special shout out to Jose the lobby bartender. Friendly, caring, attentive and fun. He should train roof top restaurant and pool servers on how to become exceptional customer service staff. We liked the Light House restaurant the last time we visited. However, preferred the full buffet at Vista Roof for our breakfast needs instead. By the way, the omelette station staff were exceptional. Despite the unexceptional staff members at Hotel Tesoro, I still feel it deserves an overall 5 star. It's walking distance to the marina, the restaurants, bars, stores, pharmacies, activities, etc. All nearby. We didn't need a rental car during our stay in Cabo but only to get to and from the airport. We will definitely return to Hotel Tesoro. Stayed here for a few days for a long birthday weekend and am so, so happy. Staying at a hotel with mixed reviews can be scary, especially as I look through some of the reviews for this place, having had my fair share of nightmare experiences with overnight stays. Maybe they had major renovations during COVID (looked very updated when I stayed in Sept 2022) or got lucky with my room (original booking ended up being unavailable and was upgraded to a huge room with double king sized bed and direct pool/restaurant access from our "balcony" space. View was also amazing! Our room was updated and we had the AC blasting as we binged George Lopez on Peacock (included on our TV). We also got breakfast included with our room -- BEST DECISION EVER! Please do it. There's a breakfast taco lady and she is the sweetest lady and her tacos are amazing. The omelette lady was also great but I think I got food poisoning from the bacon being slightly undercooked. Still, giving this place 5/5 stars bc that's how great it was and the bacon definitely looked sus (some parts not completely cooked) and I ate it anyway so.... It also has a great view whenever you are because it's right between the pier and downtown/main hub. We saw soooo many seals from the pool deck! It was also perfect walking distance to a bunch of places, including Solomon's Landing (a must) and a bunch of grocery stores (thanks for hauling giant liters of water back to our room, @ bf)! Would 200% stay here again when we come back, and hopefully that is very soon! Also, in case anyone is stressed about getting to the airport for their return flight, the hotel offers a shuttle service for a fee. I think it was around 20ish per person? Uber/taxi is cheaper (we taxi'd from the airport to the hotel) but if your flight is at a weird time, I wouldn't risk trying to find an uber/outside taxi). read more

Loved staying here for five days four nights. We got the all inclusive package that included booze and food. I recommend doing that, it was a great deal. Currently, there are three restaurants you can choose to eat at. The food at the breakfast buffet was good but they also have a la cart at the lighthouse restaurant. The food at the vista roof was my favorite for lunch and dinner. The food at the lighthouse was good for breakfast and I liked the atmosphere there. They had the birria tacos for breakfast and those were so delicious. Everything comes well done. Specify that you want something coked rare. They like it crispy here! Service is slow at all restaurants but especially lighthouse. Skypool is soooo much fun! They have a swim up bar, sushi, and really good tacos. They have drinks in the fridge inside your room as well. You get two refills of everything per day. The room was awesome and perfect. We had a huge balcony and everything was clean. The showers were really nice with glass doors. Not all the employees speak English so touch up on your Spanish! WiFi is horrible but it was kind of nice not being on our phone all day. Not the best if you're planning to work. Covid testing available on site and very convenient. Security is on top of it and we felt safe our whole stay. read more

Great service, and from being a cantinero myself 40 years ago in college. Trust me when I say they appreciate cash tips. You might want to ask for a room near an elevator in that the building is rather spread out. Great location right on the pier, just 100 yards from the various bars and all. Price is reasonable. Check in was odd as we got approached for a timeshare presentation anf then At first it was good and then I went to go have dinner at the rooftop and felt rushed to leave I had to wait a while for my food to arrive and once it did it was gross . I decided to give it another chance the following day for breakfast and it was great so i went for dinner again and once again it was terrible service and the food was just as bad . It was whale sight - seeing that brought us to Cabo and it was a spectacular day out. We visited Cabo on two separate occasions within a week and called by the bar at this hotel each time just for three essentials: coffees, toilets and WiFi. I did smile to myself as the same two Americans and one Canadian were still at the bar second time around (sing us a song you're the piano man). They recognised us too. The bar men knew their drinks and kept them loaded. The large tv screen at the bar was showing American football that engaged most of the clientele and we sat at the bar with the assurances of tee shirt wearing Americans that we were on the right side of Trump's Wall. The hotel is on the cusp of the pier and it's not at all obvious it's a hotel as you approach. It's quite a low key/low rise place. On our first visit 6 days earlier we literally got cappuccinos served in half pint glasses and second time it was much smaller portions. I cannot explain why on the first visit we were charged about a dollar less than the second visit especially as the portions were smaller second time around. Oh well. The coffee was fairly ok, the WiFi was fast and they provided a code that lasted 2 hours. A code was also needed to gain access to the toilets so maybe the second barman added a toilet fee. The staff were very helpful to us and earned a good tip (yes BC it happens, not a lot, but it happens). The Canadian lady told me that she paid 1200 Canadian dollars for each 7 nights at the hotel for room only. She was not in a hurry to return to her maritime climate homeland. I know how she feels. The town itself is a mix of very uneven and badly cracked footpaths, potholes, there's a light tang of raw sewage in the warm air, restaurants offering food priced for Americans, flea market stores flogging tat from tee shirts to plastic human skulls with gentle hassle to buy, massage/nail parlours and chemist shops. The American health care system must be keeping Mexico financially afloat (Mexico is one of 5 countries that rely on a good world market price for sugar like Thailand). There are a few not very salubrious public toilets at a 50 cent entry fee so if you're a tourist needing any or all of our three essentials I recommend here and you'll likely get a friendly welcome, mediocre coffee and 2 hours of good WiFi. read more

I've stayed here multiple times and during Covid they called me selling vacation packages. I told them I would help them out and purchase two of their packages in advance. When I went to confirm, they tried to send me to another resort. Reluctantly, I agreed, but then when I showed up in Cabo (after flights & confirming reservation) with my family, even though we have paid & been charged, they told us they did not have a reservation, and would not accommodate us. This hotel is where we stayed at during our trip to Cabo. It is located in the marina and walking distance to everything in downtown, so it was very convenient. When we first arrived, someone will persuade you into doing a time share presentation by offering freebies, so we got suckered into doing so. After getting our welcome drinks, we were showed our room, which was very clean and pretty spacious. There are two restaurants for dining here as well, which is included in the price of the hotel, but only for breakfast. Lunch and dinner is on your own dime, I believe. We also checked out the Sky pool once, and it was pretty cool. Not a lot of people were there when we came, so we were able to relax in one of their pretty cabanas and dip our feet in the pool. There was a DJ playing some lively music and another staff member offering to take our drink orders as well. Overall, a nice place to stay at in Cabo if you want to be close to all the tourist attractions. read more

We had 2 weeks all exclusive stay in a city view room. Lots of walking only 2 elevators and some rooms have an additional walk-up flight (ours did). Maid service comes each day to freshen up and clean towels. Service and help here are pleasant , friendly and excellent service. Weather was extremely humid and we had 2 days of heavy rain but the staff made the best of it and tried to keep the areas clean and dry. Only had 2 restaurants open and pool bar so after 2 weeks we were a little bored with the same food, and upset that severely items never became available (no ribs today). Buffet breakfast was good and many selections but if you want eggs come early the line gets long. Enjoy your fruit now won't see much later during the rest of the day on menus. Again, wait-staff was very good and attentive. So glad we finally got to Cabo! read more

The resort is beautifully located, the rooms are spacious enough, and the included breakfast buffet is among the best I have had. I particularly like that the omelets are made from freshly cracked eggs -- the improved flavor really shows). It is easy to walk from Tesoro to anyplace you want in the harbor or the neighboring community restaurants and Museum of Natural History, and possible to walk easily to at least three beaches. The hallways are kept very clean. It is a great value if you book early. As older adults, we appreciate that they allowed us to check in at a side table, instead of standing amid crowds of students on spring break. The main downside is that the hallways echo with no sound absorption, and every running footstep and screaming student can be heard in the room as though they are right outside. Another issue we had was that the man that checked us out for our first stay had not yet processed the release of the 100 USD credit card hold at three days after we checked out even though he said it would be released the night of checkout. Thankfully, we were still in town as we came back to the hotel after a two day whale watching tour. Ilse Hernandez at our second checkout was extremely helpful -- she not only immediately released the hold for our second stay, but searched through multiple printouts to find and release the hold from the first stay. Their system charges 1 US cent when the 100 USD hold is released. I suggest asking them to release the hold and give you the receipt for the 1 cent when you check out and not let them tell you they will do it later. All in all, I would definitely stay at Hotel Tesoro again, but might try to avoid spring break weeks. read more

I enjoyed staying at this hotel! The location was convenient. Was in walking distance to shops, the marina, the mall and lots of great restaurants! The staff were very friendly and nice. I took one star away because after we checked in we had to speak to a concierge who was very pushy about selling us excursions and activities. I had just got off a long flight and all I wanted to do was put my things away and go out an explore Cabo San Lucas. It was so bad I had to pretend I was sick so that she would let us go to our room. I took another star away because of the bracelets! You were forced to wear a bracelet with the hotels name on it. It you lost it it cost $35 dollars to replace. I know it's to identify to staff that we were staying there. The bracelets screamed tourists and everyone we walked by or at the shops on the marina knew where we were staying because of the bracelets. We would get comments like "oh you're staying at the Tesoro " Wish we could have just shown our room key to get in the hotel & not have to wear bracelets. I also forgot to mention that they charge for WiFi which is really inconvenient. Most restaurants had free WiFi, it's too bad that customers at the hotel could not connect to WiFi. read more

I am so mad. Never again will I stay here. The location is great but honestly I booked a room with two beds. The workers are always polite but poor management in the front desk. After we paid after arrival we get to the room with one bed. I asked where are my kids going to sleep they said on the couch that transforms to the bed. It was falling apart you can feel the springs. Great staff and service from the moment i checked in to the pool bartenders and servers. Add the all you can eat and drink its a great deal and you will get your moneys worth. Pay the upgrade for the marina view its worth it and enjoy drinks on your balcony to sun sets. All the arch and fishing tours leave from the marina right behind hotel. Its a five minute cab ride to Medano beach if you want to beach it. read more

I am currently staying here for weekend. Last night I slept here and when I woke up in the morning I was full of bites all over my legs and lower back. You can see the pictures. This is a huge hotel, it's 2 buildings connected with a 2nd and 3rd floor bridge. We had a room close to elevator so not a big deal for us. August 2021 was just after reopening and 2 out of the restaurants were still closed. The pool area is awesome. The guest services and room service were great, the service at the restaurants was phenomenal. We had 2 weeks all inclusive, the first 8-9 were great but we did get burnt out over 14 days. The location in the Harbor is fantastic easy to get excursions from hotel or just walk the boardwalk for even better deals. We did get transfers to airport included it's a pretty long drive so relax... there is a COVID testing area within property where you get a $ credit almost as much as the test cost. My Shout Out is to Captain Rachael! She was the absolute most Professional service minded devoted person I have ever met! He was such a nice and helpful man. The buffet breakfast was delicious. Every picture you will take at the pool with the marina in the background will be amazing. I also enjoyed the spa on-site. I've liked to state that the view this hotel had was phenomenal. It had an extremely beautiful view of the marina both in the morning and at night. We booked our stay with an all inclusive breakfast that was authentic and absolutely delicious. We dined at some restaurants near by for breakfast, and let me tell you none compared to the breakfast we had here. On Saturdays and Sundays they provide menudo and birria, which is a must try if you love Mexican food. The place itself was very clean, they followed all CDC guidelines to ensure the safety and well-being of their guests. This place is absolutely too expensive to not serve any fresh food or have any water source besides a bathroom sink. Most of the workers were beyond rude. I do not recommend at all. Only one restaurant is open besides the buffet, and it is a long process to make a reservation- you have to go in person between 12 and 3, and they are not accommodating even during that time. We paid a lotttt of money for this place and they were actually awful. They refused us water multiple times and once they realizes we were all inclusive they had us awful food and service. I will never EVER come back here. If you looking for all inclusive on spring break don't come here. read more

I stayed here when I was in Cabo to meet a liveaboard dive boat for a trip to Socorro. This place is massive and in a great marina location. My room (a junior suite) was very large and spanned the entire width of the building. It had a really nice kitchenette and large balcony that overlooked the marina. My check-in specialist (Berenice) made sure that I had everything I needed and made the experience as pleasant as possible. I did have some communication issues explaining that I wanted to have a late check-out, because I was diving the next morning and would not be back until after their regular check-out time and I needed to clean up and change into street clothes afterwards, but they were able to accommodate this and I could keep my room (for a small fee) until the time that I needed to leave the next afternoon for the liveaboard diving boat to Socorro. The bed was comfortable, but I had a really hard time sleeping because of the noise coming from the music blasting out of the Tipsey Bar across the street and the bars at the marina. I do have some suggestions to pass along, if you plan to stay here: 1 - Ask for a room with a number beyond one ending in the 70s, because any numbered rooms after that are located in a different part of their property and farther away from the noise of the bar across the street. 2 - Don't check-in between 3-4PM. It will be "super-busy" during that time and the check-in takes way longer than it should. I arrived at 3:30PM and did not get to my room until almost 4PM. When I went to check-out the next day at 3PM, the line was very long, so I came back after 4PM and was able to check-out quickly. 3 - Let the bellhop escort you to your room. This place is huge and you will take forever to find your room, especially if you are staying here for the first time. Believe me, it is worth the 3-5 bucks to give them, because they will provide you with some good information for getting around the property. 4 - Venture out to eat, especially if you have some dietary restrictions or a Vegetarian (like myself). Youd don't have to do the all-inclusive, just walk around and dine in some of the great (and reasonably-priced) restaurants downtown. The dining options at their on-site restaurants is very limited and not very Vegetarian-friendly. 5 - Don't buy the water and drinks that they offer in the rooms. You can walk across the street to the little convenience store (OXXO) and get bottled water and soft drinks much cheaper. Also, all of the nearby Pharmacies sell bottled water very cheap. Overall. My stay here was pleasant and this place is convenient to everything. I would definitely stay here again. read more
