On June 4, my family and I arrived for my son's graduation from the Navy all he wanted was some barbecue. Test kitchen did not disappoint and we were met at this restaurant with kindness, love laughter, amazing decor, and to top it off 10 out of 10 food. Rib, tips, greens, mac & cheese, gizzards, cornbread yams, potato salad fried chicken Black Eyed Peas. You name it we ate it 10 out of 10. We enjoyed the food so much that we returned the next day. We gave a beautiful young lady a military graduation picture of my son. She informed us that she was gonna start a military wall for the graduation and name it after our son DeMarea. Oh let me tell you the kool-aid was fire. Let me tell you we were treated with class and respect and I will definitely be back. Thank you so much. Blessings to this restaurant. If you need some good barbecue go see test kitchen. Sending love from the Hopkins family from Victorville California

    Fried chicken combo with fries

Stopped at Test Kitchen BBQ today for lunch. It was my first visit. The staff was very welcoming, offering us samples of several of the meats being served. I was overwhelmed by the number of options on the menu, and also confused about the differences between the combos, boxes, plates. I went with the fried chicken, which was delicious. My dad had the BBQ pulled pork sandwich and collared greens and really enjoyed it. I got the biggest serving of fries with my chicken. I had a real problem with the ketchup they offer for fries, it's a no-name brand and it was gross. I'd like to go back and try the fried shrimp next time. (I'll take it to go, so I can have my home ketchup.) Definitely worth a visit!

Been there twice now and seems like mostly regulars are coming in. Always a super friendly greeting when you walk in, and if it's your first time, well, "you're in need of a sample". Their brisket is perfectly jiggly-juicy so highly recommended! A big menu and haven't found anything I didn't love yet.

Tonight was our first experience at Test Kitchen BBQ and while the menu is expansive and the staff was nice and friendly, the food was just ok. We ordered the Medium Turkey Plate ($11.99)with sides of Cole slaw and mashed potatoes and the Medium Brisket plate ($13.99) with sides of baked Mac n cheese and baked beans. We also ordered an extra small side of corn fritters. The brisket (we asked for lean) was quite fatty. In fact half of it was fat. The flavor of the meat didn't require bbq sauce so that's a plus...but when half the plate is fat, that's not appetizing. The baked beans were tasty. The Mac n cheese was pretty bland. The Turkey was moist and flavorful but also fatty. The mashed potatoes were excellent and the Cole slaw was pretty tasty. The corn fritters were really good.

Great bbq, quirky hours. It's Part of the Browns Fried Chicken and is only open on the weekend.

They must either mix their own mild sauce or have it made just for Hillery's because it wasn't some cheap, off the shelf crap just to marginally fit a function. I wish I'd have known ahead of time so I could have gotten more (someone made a lunch run since there is no delivery). I don't really have words for the rib tips other than OH MY F****** GAWD! How the heck does someone have rib tips that meaty, that dense, that tender? Even reheated, they rock!

Inside, it's nothing fancy. You pretty much place your order at the counter and wait around for your food. No tables or chairs to sit at, so basically it's just a takeout place. Looks like they do cater as they have different sized pans on display for you to see how much food it can fit for your party size. I was craving some bbq and some sides such as Mac n cheese and collard greens and was disappointed that they did not carry either or. Their main sides were fries, coleslaw, and fried okra from what I can remember. I decided to go with the rib tips dinner. I ordered the extra large portion as I was going to share with the hubby. Took about 15 minutes for my food to be ready, so not bad. It came with fries, coleslaw, and 2 pieces of bread for a total of $20. The rib tips were 'aight. The meat was a little tough to chew and not falling off the bone as I normally like. Also, they were cut in huge chunks and not really in bite sized pieces. The sauce was okay but it did not really blow me away and neither did the coleslaw. The fries were pretty bland as well and could have used some more salt or seasoning. It didn't even come with ketchup in my carry out bag. Overall it was meh. I still would like to try their wings some other time and see how that goes.

Fantastic smoky brisket! Sandwich has a nice mix of lean and fatty pieces too…read more The fries were WAY better than I expected - McD level! The rib tips were super tender and yummy too. This appears to be a family-run business. Mom took the order, dad cooked it, son served it. The place has a hot dog joint vibe, like Irvings or your neighborhood greasy spoon, but there's some really good southern style bbq here!

The green beans were seasoned perfectly and we're the perfect temperature too! The turkey leg was huge and delicious! The meat fell off the bone and was moist and delicious. I have never had a better turkey leg! I cannot eat BB sauce because it flares up my arthritis pain... this turkey leg did not even need sauce it was that good. A lot of the BBQ places we go to don't even have turkey legs and when they do, the meat tastes like ham... not here, yummy turkey flavor with a crispy skin. It is definitely worth the ride to come out here and get it again. My husband loves their pulled pork nachos! The perfect size for a meal and made with fresh ingredients. If your in the area stop by and give this place a try! Everyone working here is very kind and patient. Will be back again! They have 4 TV's on different channels and Motown music playing in the background. A nice relaxing atmosphere!
