Great food and service. We were in the area and decided to stop in again for some ggreat BBQ. I ordered the turkey leg with green beans. The green beans were seasoned perfectly and we're the perfect temperature too! The turkey leg was huge and delicious! The meat fell off the bone and was moist and delicious. I have never had a better turkey leg! I cannot eat BB sauce because it flares up my arthritis pain... this turkey leg did not even need sauce it was that good. A lot of the BBQ places we go to don't even have turkey legs and when they do, the meat tastes like ham... not here, yummy turkey flavor with a crispy skin. It is definitely worth the ride to come out here and get it again. My husband loves their pulled pork nachos! The perfect size for a meal and made with fresh ingredients. If your in the area stop by and give this place a try! Everyone working here is very kind and patient. Will be back again! They have 4 TV's on different channels and Motown music playing in the background. A nice relaxing atmosphere!

Great local joint. Flavor of ribs was great. I got a nice portion in the 1/2 slab which was a surprise in a good way. The slaw was tasty and nicely portioned. The warm bbq sauce was special and home made. Corn muffin was good and had a nice melted butter on top. I'll be back.

    Peach Cobbler

Came to smoke barbecue today after going to Wisconsin for the day to check out the cheese castle. I ordered to go a bunch of food. I'm from California so I went to taste the barbecue in Chicago or Illinois we ordered our own platter or made a platter I should say we got brisket pulled pork, some ribs. Some beans, some collards some mac & cheese. We got the jerk chicken with the dirty rice. We got a link you got some peach cobbler so now let me tell you how would all taste it the peach cobbler is some of the best peach cobbler I ever tasted that wasn't mine. The beans on the other hand tasted just like they were from the can if they were smoked, I'd be surprised. The collard greens were good. They needed salt, but I would order that again. The yams were good. they could've done a little bit more salt but other than that, I would eat those right out of the container. The coleslaw was kind of funny tasting kind of like KFC the mac & cheese just tasted like macaroni and cheddar cheese together. I would not get that again it was nothing special. The ribs were good. The pulled pork was OK. The brisket looked nice, but it was really dry. I did not taste the chicken, but my wife said it was good and the rice they like the rice. all in all, I'm glad that I tasted smoking barbecue. I'm gonna have to try another barbecue joint in the area to compare to this one and of course to mine and I feel like I make better barbecue than this place but that's my opinion if I had to recommend anything from here, it will be the peach cobbler and the chicken and rice dish. Their sausage was really hard to cut also and it was a little dry also, but the restaurant is really nice and the people they were really nice also. their barbecue sauce is pretty good also I only put it on the ribs

I love good barbecue and am happy to try a new place out when I stumble upon it. Very sad that this place was incredibly disappointing We ordered a few things to try and ended up with hot links, brisket, pork tips and ribs; all things we've had before and like. I ate a little of the brisket (not much, perhaps not even a slice) but tasted a bite of the hot link and ended up throwing the rest of it away. In fact, I didn't eat much of anything; we had a side of collard greens and I threw them away too. COLLARD GREENS. Yes, I added hot sauce; they were not worth eating. How is that possible? The cornbread that came with the meal was terrible. It was so dry you could choke on it. One of the corn muffins seemed a little burned, so I suppose perhaps that's why it was so dry. French fries should never be the best part of your meal at a barbecue joint. The prices are really high. It seems most prepared to be a takeout place, since they don't have fountain drinks or anything; they have some beverages including water you can buy from their cooler. They have a single barbecue sauce, which was ok but couldn't make up for the rest of the meal of course. At least now I know not to return, but still bummed at how much it cost and throwing most of it away. Also worth noting that there's a 3% charge applied to credit card purchases.

    Games!

Great place, great people, and even greater food. They have a dining area that is clean with barbecue themed items that make it fun and inviting. Been coming here for a couple years now and they never disappoint. If you're looking for barbecue in Mundelein, this is the place to go.

The soup comes out boiling and you crack a raw egg in it and burry it in the soup and meat and in a few minutes it's cooked! The stone bowl was so cool. Hot rice in a hot stone bowl works wonders if you love toasted rice at the bottom of your pot like me, I was in heaven. I will definitely come back here and taste other things on the menu. Hwang Dae Gham is located in a non-descript strip mall with some closed store fronts, so plenty of parking. My daughter and I were in town and needed to visit in the Northern suburbs, so afterwards decided to have lunch at a place that had meaning for us. Unfortunately, it was closed on Mondays so chose another Korean restaurant. Hwang Dae Gham ended up a great choice. We came soon after it opened, and it was already busy. It is a family owned business, and they obviously take great pride in their food and service. We had a chance to eat a lot of their non-BBQ offerings, and every one of them was excellent. Started with two appetizer portions: mul-mandu (small, bite-size steamed dumplings...supposed to be only pork but I swear I tasted seafood/fish in it...very good...reminded me of eating pelmini in it's size and density); the other was a small portion of japchae which we devoured...usually not a fan of this style of Korean mung-bean noodles, but really enjoyed it. We got two entrees (didn't share for once, so each got what we wanted). I got the squid bibim-bap (mixed rice in a stone bowl)...it's important to look at the pictures, cause it clearly explains the difference between the normal bibim-bap. They basically put a large portion of the squid-bokum, on top of rice...missing the normal cold greens. It was different, and I loved it. It was served with the requisite gochujang sauce, but you don't need it. It's already pre-seasoned. My daughter got the Gamja-Tang (spicy soup with potato and pork neck), and she really enjoyed it....like most Korean hot soups, great for a chilly February Chicago day. All of it comes with side dishes and purple rice. We especially liked the sweet glazed potatoes, picked cucumbers, and sliced mung bean pancake. Service was very warm and consistent throughout. It was just a beautiful opportunity to have a great meal and spend a lot of time with my adult daughter, reminiscing about the past and planning for the future. The entire Hwang Dae Gham environment was very conducive to that. I really wish I had two stomachs so I could sample the other dishes on the menu...all of it looked so good. We ended up bringing home most of the entrees, and it was delicious re-heated. Really inspires me to explore K-Town more when I get home.

Second, what a cool building (see my pic!) Great views of the pond and waterfall, if that's your thing. Bridge, pond, patio and landscaping are nice. And that's just the outside. Inside, find multiple sports TVs, and a well-stocked illuminated bar, also with TVs. I found the tables well stocked with six kinds of sauces if you want to season your meal. But the bar, sauces and TVs don't dominate. The food does. At first I thought the menu was pricey. BUT for $13 you can get just the BBQ meat-- I decided to try the BBQ pulled pork. For $17 you can get two sides along with that and it's a platter. I needed me some sides, so I ordered the platter. I chose Smoked Gouda Mac & Cheese and the bacon and brussel sprouts. When I received my meal: Mind. Blown. The pulled pork portion is easily at least a pound of meat or possibly more. No joke. The sides were easily 1 lb. of food each. Brussels sprouts BBQ'd to perfection with a generous supply bacon mixed in. On the Gouda Mac & Cheese side, I appreciated that instead of the boring mac & cheese noodles, they used cavatappi pasta. Nice touch! MMMmmm on my entire meal!!! If you want leftovers, it's totally possible. Or come here hungry. Try out the hidden gem, because it's great! Since the wings are freshly made to order, I was informed that there would be about 15 - 20 minutes wait before order pick-up. That wasn't a problem for me. My order was ready as informed. I had my wings soon after pick-up while they were hot and fresh. The wings looked super delicious and tasted as such as well. They were saucy, crispy, and meaty. Their flavor was very good, and the spice level was too my liking. The Wings of Fire sauce was finger licking good. Yum! I couldn't get enough of it. The wings hit the spot. It was money well spent.
