I booked a room at the lodge while on a road trip to Montana. I'm so glad to have stumbled upon this place as it's unique and beautiful. The layout of the lodge, which is literally shaped like a teepee, is nice and welcoming. The rooms are small, but cozy. I love that it's pet friendly too. You can really tell the owners love what they do and providing excellent service to everyone who stays here. If you're looking to explore the grand Tetons and Yellowstone, but don't want to stay too close to the parks, i definitely recommend staying here. The grand Tetons are about an hour drive and Yellowstone is about 2.5 hours from the lodge. read more

We spend one night here on Sept 3 and loved it. This is such a unique place. The lodge was built 53 years ago by a family who wanted to use it for family get togethers. It is in the shape of a teepee and has rooms in a circle around the teepee. The rooms are kinda small and basic but functional. The center of the lodge is a gathering space for guests with couches, tables and chairs, a large fire place, a small food prep area. I be wish we could have stayed longer. A bonus item is they have a lodge mascot named Lizzy, a greater Swiss mountain dog. She is just beautiful and so sweet. I hope to be able to go back some day!!!!! read more

We managed to gather a ski group big enough to rent the entire Teepee! What a fun experience. Thanks to great pre-organizing, and with the help of our hosts Alma & Dan, we catered dinners all 3 nights, and even had a masseuse available! Alma's homemade breakfasts were perfect to keep us going on the slopes, and Dan provided local hacks to save us some time and walking in our ski boots. The Teepee is charming, with a central firepit, a bar that we could stock, and many places to spread out in small or large groups. There are also game rooms. Our bedroom was super comfortable and surprisingly quiet, thanks to the double doors. The proximity to Grand Targhee and various Nordic centers was key. We loved it!! read more

Rooms surround a center fireplace that is a perfect meeting spot to chat with other guests. My teens loved the downstairs game room with shuffleboard and pool. Most guests are repeat visitors. Last August, we were in this beautiful lodge, and for the first time, I met a greater Swiss Mountain Dog there. The manager has a gentle Swissy. I lost my dog in June, and I didn't want to bring a new dog, but after I saw that gentle and gorgeous dog, I fell in love with this breed. I found a breeder, and after one month, a Swissy joined our family. Now our boy is 15 months old. I won't forget this beautiful lodge because it changed my life. My husband and I had an excellent stay at the Teton Teepee Lodge. It is well located to go skiing at the Grand Targhee Resort. Dan and Alma are great hosts - they are very friendly and make you feel 'at home' with their warm hospitality. And then there is the resident dog, Lizzy, who welcomes you every time you come home. :) She is a sweet Swiss Mountain Dog. They feed you delicious breakfast, which includes Dan's phenomenal muffins. The rooms are not big but the common area of the lodge is so spacious that you won't spend that much time in your room. There are dining tables and comfortable chairs/couches to lounge in throughout the common area. There is also a beautiful fire place in the center of the lodge. You have access to community refrigerator, microwave and electric kettle throughout the day, so it's easy to make a meal if you don't feel like going out to eat. There is a great supermarket in a nearby town of Driggs, ID. Alta, WY is a small, mostly residential town, so you do need to drive to Driggs to get food, groceries, gas etc. If you're arriving late, you might want to pick up something in Driggs before arriving at the lodge. As for the room itself, we got a room with one queen bed. They also have rooms with two twin beds, if you're traveling with friends, family etc. The floor is heated around the bathroom/sink area, which is really nice in the winter. Water pressure in the shower was great and the bed was super comfy! There is also a boot dryer for your ski/snowboard boots right outside of each guest room. It was nice to step into warm ski boots every morning! We will definitely stay here again next time we are in the area. In fact, I'm already thinking of staying here for a week next winter and ski Grand Targhee Mon-Fri... ;) So much powder at GT, it was unreal!! Ok, I'll save that for another review. read more

We stayed here June 2022. If you're traveling the Grand Tetons area, Driggs Idaho for example, we stayed at The Teton Teepee Lodge in Alta, WY I was never so impressed. The pics online don't do it justice so I'm posting my own. It was abandoned for 15 years until the new owners came on board and have renovated it beautifully. When I had a question about booking, I sent them an email and they called me back before the end of day - WHILE they were out of the country! Breakfast is provided daily, beautiful loft areas, game room in basement, outside fire circle, river along the back, decorated to the nines, very affordable. Bear spray to rent LOL. read more

This is a very unique welcoming place! Alma was so gracious. The structure and its accompanying mountain stream and fire pit were amazing.

We were lucky to score a reservation for one night as part of my Dad's Crazy Road Trip. We both wished we could have spent at least a week here! Dan and Alma are the perfect hosts. The Lodge has been lovingly restored to its former glory and beyond. The main lodge area is gloriously welcoming, with a huge central fire pit (no worries! It has amazing ventilation!!), plenty of cozy seating, and loft areas with game rooms and relaxing lounge space. The rooms are smallish with excellent bathroom and getting-ready space. Don't sweat the room size--if you are coming here, you'll be spending most of your day out enjoying the area and relaxing in the main lodge area at night. Pick up the phone and talk to the owners--they will help you understand the room layouts and capacities. I am scheming ways to come back as soon as possible. This location has year-round access to activities and glorious scenery. Dan and Alma have you covered for breakfast, with tasty and healthy homemade options. I understand why people book months-years sometimes-in advance. Plan ahead! read more

Tetón Tepee Lodge is among the best places I've stayed! The owners, Alma and Dan, are very welcoming and accommodating! The facility's charm is unique with a warm and cozy vibe. Guest rooms are updated and clean with very comfortable beds. Plenty of common space for gathering inside and out. Not only was our experience there very incredible but they also provided us with a very scenic route on our way back to Rapid City. We followed their advice and we were very glad we did! I started going to the Teton Teeppee about 25 years ago for a few nights out of the year with my family around New Years. My dads family friend who he use to ski with was the family that opened the Teepee back in the early 70's and it was always such an inviting place to go to and have fun with old friends and people who you never have met before. They have made a ton of changes, some for the good and some just didn't have the same family feel as it did in the past. I stayed two nights and the staff was friendly and always open to help you out if you had any questions or if you just needed something. If you are looking for a hidden gem near a remarkable ski hill, take a night to stay at the Teton Teeppee. Our room was very affordable around $130 per night after taxes, etc. 5 STARS!!!! read more

Such a cool place, probably the coolest hotel I've ever stayed at. It's meant for comfort and mingling with other guests, sadly we stayed during Covid so everyone was pretty cautious. The owners were very aware of precautions. There is plenty of space as well if you would like to be alone. A huge fire place, pool upstairs, game room downstairs. There is a River right outside with some chairs by it, we had some beers there, very peaceful. The owner Dan was very helpful with hiking tips, his wife Alma was very nice as well. Their dog Lizzy accompanies them around the hotel, she is a very sweet and calm dog. Homemade muffins and bread are provided for breakfast with fruit and coffee. BEWARE when you book tetonteepee. we recently booked a room there and cancelled 5 days ahead and they still charged us and will not refund. we cancelled because our plans changed because Yellowstone was shut down because of flooding. they should have some compassion. they said 7 day cancellation policy. I was not impressed. Booked my stay for a Saturday night in August. When I arrived the front desk told me they had just checked me in. Turns out a guest who had recently checked in had a similar last name as mine! She had charged a deposit for my stay before I ever arrived! I wouldn't trust them. There is no food nearby. I had to drive 15 minutes to find dinner. There is no TV, AC or hairdryer in the room. Having paid $171 for a night, I would have expected more amenities!! read more

In the world of sub-standard hotels, this place outshines the competition like the star of north. It is like a hidden gem of Wyoming. This place raised our standards for what to expect from a small town lodge. Hotel receptionist welcomed us cheerfully, showed us around. They have a nice parking lot right in front of the lodge. There is also a creek passing by the lodge that makes you think that it always rains :). Everything is pretty much self serve in here. You can freely wonder around, make some tea or hot coco for yourself and spend some time watching the mountains. Weather is so nice, you will sleep like a baby. read more

We came to Alta to do a hike that my husband had done as a child. We were happily surprised when we arrived to the teepee. The people working are so friendly, you can tell its family owned and loved. This is a rustic cozy place. We felt quite comfortable relaxing in the common area and chatting with the staff. If you're looking for a private luxury room maybe this isn't the place but if you want friendly authentic comfort and great company this is the place. read more

Had such a wonderful experience at this lodge. We arrived about 9:30 PM and the owner, Dan, graciously helped us. He personally took us to our room and made sure we had what we needed. Comfortable beds with soft sheets and amazingly plush pillows. The room was clean and well thought out bc even though the room wasn't large, it felt big. Nice shower and toilet in one room with a sink and vanity separate. The center of the lodge is fabulous. It was hot when we visited, but there is an amazingly huge fire place in the middle that I will definitely be back to experience it! Tables and couches promote a social scene, however we were pretty busy and didn't hang out. Dan told us the ski lift had amazing view of the west side of the Tetons and we took his advice and it was amazing! He asked us if we had plans Friday night, then offered us tickets to the rodeo. Fantastic rodeo every Friday night in the summer! So generous of him to give up his tickets and the night was unforgettable!Continental breakfast was homemade and delectable. Homemade muffins, breads, and coffee cake. Cut up fruit, boiled eggs, yogurt, and a variety of cereals! Such an amazing experience, I can't wait to go back! Happy to have discovered this gem. We have been traveling to the Teton-Yellowstone area for 40 years, and now have our new favorite place. Comfortable Rooms and the common area is better than my living room, with cozy fireside. Was worried about the possible noise, stayed there New Year's Eve and quite as a mouse in our room. This is one hidden gem. The owners Dan and Alma are most hospitable in welcoming you to their Lodge. You will walk in, in awe. The previous owners have created a most unique place to relax. With the improvements Dan has added you feel so at home. The serenity and calmness this Lodge has brought me so much joy. They have created an environment of socialization with others. We met so many people from all walks of life in the two days we were there. Upon arrival we were offered coffee and freshly baked cookies. Continental breakfast was amazing fresh blueberry muffins, freshly cut fruit, yogurt w/toppings, toast, instant oatmeal, cold cereals, juices, and coffee and tea. If you are looking for a five start hotel with lots of amenities and services this is not the place for you. If you want a calm relaxed environment where you can be rejuvenated this is your place. I just wish this place was closer to Cali. Search YouTube for the story behind this Lodge. The city of Driggs is a couple of miles away with great restaurants too. read more
