The majority of this process was good. Having Pat come by and see the unit to give me an accurate quote along with advice on where paint should/shouldn't go was a huge plus. They were a bit on the more expensive side, but I wanted a pro job so it would be worth it to me if I got what I paid for. The painters themselves worked very well with the building so I didn't even need to be there to give them instructions. I just emailed my requests and notes and they took care of it! What brings them a 4 instead of a 5 was the very end of the project. I had 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and 1 livingroom/kitchen area done during about two days worth of painting, so that's five rooms overall. Four out of five of those rooms were painted very well with only one or two minor spots that they were more than willing to come patch up for me (I'm picky). After the second day, however, the guest bathroom was a bit of a mess. The painters clearly used the bathtub to wash their brushes off in and some paint was stained on the drain. There were also spots on the toilet and on the back of the door. Clearly not the pro job I had hoped for in that one room, which was frustrating because they did so well everywhere else! That said, part of being good painters is about how you handle mistakes, and they handled it well. I called them up, they listened to each of my points and asked for thorough documentation with pictures so they could address them the following day. I left them blue tape marked on the spots I wanted them to address and they fixed all of them nicely! So while it would have been better not to make that kind of mess at all, in the end I am satisfied with the job I got and it was worth the price. read more

Update: The owner Scott contacted us right after the review was posted with an offer to meet, hear our grievances and attempt to make it right. He agreed that the project was not handled to his expectations and did not want to leave us feeling negative about the experience. He offered to come in and manage the re-work personally. He also provided a partial refund on the services rendered as they did not live up to the scope of work (especially the prep). I did fine it disappointing that he defended most of the lines, saying that any professional painter would say these are good. We will agree to disagree on that front. We are opting not to have any re-work done at this time, but appreciate that the offer remains on the table. Joel came out to do an estimate. He spoke to us at length about the prep-work they would be doing. Specifically saying that the first day or two there would be no painting, as they would be spending that time cleaning and prepping the walls, filling cracks and holes, and texturing the walls. He offered a fair price, and after several other estimates we felt the services being offered were the best value at the price. Day one came and there was none of the promised prep work done, and painting started a mere hour after the crew arrived. Our project manager was here for maybe 5 minutes and did little to actually manage the project. Through out the days work became sloppier and the painters were less careful with our property. On the last day, a new painter arrived with the woman who had been there the previous days and neither spoke English. That wouldn't be a problem, however the main crew member who had been translating did not show up until past noon. The work was terrible that day, we ended up with paint on the carpet, our blinds, our brand new granite countertop and bedding. They did not paint the top of the door frames, assuming no one would actually look at them, and splattered paint all over shelves and windowsills that are normally out of view. I messaged Joel about these issues and was told it was unacceptable and he would get to the bottom of it. When Chris came to do the final walkthrough he acted as if he did not know what problems needed to be addressed, and showed no concern saying simply "we can fix that, we can fix that, etc". We attempted to show that even the blinds were not taken down and essentially we were called liars by the crew and him. While "fixing" the problems, the crew spoke about us in Spanish, laughing about our complaints not knowing I understood every word. When they were confronted about that, the took great lengths to again say we were wrong. At the end we were pressured over and over to say that we were happy with the job. Eventually I said yes just to get them out of our house. My wife refused to capitulate and said nothing. Tonight, one of the light fixtures they actually removed fell down in the kitchen, shattering and scratching our brand new kitchen faucet and stainless steel sink. My wife, attempting to adjust a curtain rod they had got paint on, removed one of the blinds. Proving that they lied about taking all of them down and putting them in a pile to paint the window frames, they was old white paint underneath. We now have a paint job we are unhappy with, painters who we do not feel comfortable coming back into our house, bedding that needs to be replaced, and scratched kitchen faucet and sink that makes me want to cry with frustration as it was a brand new remodel. read more

Tex Painting did a fabulous job painting the exterior of my house. The prep work included power washing the house, caulking every conceivable gap, crack and seam, sanding and repairing cracked wood, and replacing sections of squirrel-damaged wood with Hardy Board. They put two coats of Benjamin Moore paint on the walls and trim. The crew was very fussy and attentive to details. Their manager was very responsive and he was on site for a time every day. We love our little home - it is our family's place in this world. So it won't suprise you that we take painstaking care in choosing contractors. Sure, we want an experienced and quaified team that will do the job well. But, there's also the intangibles that can make the challenge of home improvement bearable during the heigh of disruption, and a joy as it comes to completion. Look no further than Patrick Ward at Tex Paint for the perfect combination of expertise and communication. From the first day that Patrick came by to do an estimate, we felt sure he was our guy (and he wasn't the first contractor we had hosted). He was smart, informed, as well as friendly, accessible and thorough - and just a relatable guy who'd you'd be happy to meet in a Pub or restaurant and strike up a conversation. He probably regrets giving us his cell phone number, because from the day we signed the deal, we probalby set a record for the most texts from a client EVER. And he replied quickly and warmly to every one. We are a family with flair - our home was not the usual "beige throughout" - we had SEVEN different colors through the house - from bright yellow, to rich clay/orange, to deep cerulean blue and more. Osvaldo and his crew set to work to make make the transitions from one color to the next sharp and crisp and shared pictures with us mutlple times a day so we could see it all come together. As the yellow paint went on the walls, its intensity gave me a momentary freak out. Patrick was patient with me, talked me through it, and left room for me to do whatever I needed, even if it meant changing the color. We stayed the course (thankfully now!) but it was reassuring to know that we always had options. When we moved back in the house we did the usual walk through and found a couple of minor detaills to fix which Osvaldo did immediately. But of course, over the next week, living in the house and looking more carefully we found a few more minor details and without hesitation, Patrick sent Osvaldo back again and fixed them right up - including a "fix" we created from drilling a hole in the wrong place...they just fixed that too which was super gracious and helpful to us. Every single day we sit in our house and marvel at how beautiful it is from the colors we chose and the mastery and care with which it was applied. We LOVE it. And while the job is done, we continue to share pictures with Patrick so he can see how it all came together with furniture and furnishings. He's part of the family now! I can't say enough about the fantastic job that Miguel Guerrero and his crew did for us when I recently decided to have our suite of guest rooms painted. After getting new hardwood floors put in, I looked around the two bedrooms and said, "Honey, these walls are seriously sad; they need a face lift!" I had already moved all but the heaviest furniture out of both rooms, including years and years of "stuff" stashed in those two small closets, so I figured it wouldn't be hard to find somebody to paint them, the sooner the better. Brother, was I wrong. Finding someone to paint a couple of bedrooms while all this construction is going on in and around town became a huge source of frustration for me. UGH! (Having all those boxes and things piled up in the dining room nearly did this neat freak in) We had used Tex Painting last year when we had the exterior of our house painted, and they did a fine job, so after waiting and waiting for bids from other companies, I called Tex. The lovely person on the other end of the line said that Miguel would call me soon, and indeed he did. The next day he was at the house, giving us a bid; he was very professional and friendly. The price couldn't be beat, and within a couple of days, Miguel and crew were back, and did a great job painting walls, ceilings, closets; installing and painting shoe molding. I can tell you that Miguel will not finish a job until it is absolutely perfect, which seems to be something rare in home improvement services these days. The only thing that I would perhaps encourage is attention to more detailed communication - for example, very specific paint colour, finish, product line, supplier information. Once, when we wanted to get some paint for future touchups, we did go and get the wrong paint because we thought that the colour match was the manufacturer! - the information for paints can be very confusing. We've used Dan and his crew twice in the past 15 months. The first time we were selling our home and needed to repaint the exterior, and the most recent time we needed a ceiling painted in our new digs. Being the DIY type, I'm always hesitant to shell out money for a job I could do, but Tex Painting's prices and speed are such that sometimes it's absolutely worth it. Dan's attention to detail is impeccable. With both jobs he made SURE that we were satisfied. When his crew painted our exterior, minor touch-ups were needed and he came back and did it himself, after hours. He was up on our roof making sure the vent pipes looked great for the real estate photos with a fresh coat of paint - something I wouldn't have even THOUGHT about. And in our new place, without being asked, his guys patched up an obvious crack in our ceiling and now it's practically non-existent.
