If someone is a felon are you able to adopt a child but the mother is not and comes from a vary weathy family the reason she can't have kids is because she was born with HIV?

Hi David, thanks for your question! Many felony convictions do prohibit a person from adopting, but it can depend on what the conviction is and how long ago it was. Please contact our office so we can assess your individual situation. Thanks!

Legacy Adoption's fee schedule is the most transparent in the USA. We spent months looking all over and they are the sole agency that gives a full refund if the placement isn't made. Furthermore, they help you with everything along the way. They made a video for us and other essential information to assist in the matching process. The amount of detail we received about potential matches was impressive. They go to great lengths to ensure both birth mother and adoptive parents are comfortable and confident with the match. Then after the placement, their in-house lawyers take care of all the paperwork which was included in their fees' schedule. Choosing Legacy is a no-brainer and we will definitely use them again in the future. Thanks so much Tina and Todd for our beautiful baby girl!

A Hardest Decision Made with Love: My Adoption Journey with AIM…read more In 1998, I made one of the hardest and most emotional decisions of my entire life--placing my son up for adoption. At the time, I was young, overwhelmed, and facing a situation that felt far bigger than I could handle on my own. The choice did not come easily. It came with countless nights of tears, questions, and soul-searching. But despite the deep sadness and heartache, I knew that the decision had to be made out of love--for the life and future of the child I brought into the world. I didn't walk this journey alone. From the very beginning, the team at AIM (Adoptions in Motion) was there to support me. They offered more than just professional guidance; they gave me compassion, empathy, and a sense of security that I never expected. The women and staff at AIM never judged me for my decision or my circumstances. Instead, they embraced me with kindness and understanding, making me feel like I mattered--and that my emotions were valid. One of the most powerful aspects of working with AIM was how they focused not just on the adoptive family or the baby, but on me as the birth mother. I was never treated like someone who was simply giving something away. They made sure I knew that what I was doing was brave, selfless, and centered in love. I remember sitting in their office, my heart heavy, and a staff member held my hand and told me, "You're not alone. We are with you through every step." And they truly were. Throughout the process, AIM ensured I was physically and emotionally cared for. They checked in on me regularly, helped me navigate medical appointments, and created a safe space for me to process my feelings. They explained every step thoroughly, allowed me to ask as many questions as I needed, and never pushed me to make a decision. Their goal was to empower me to make the best choice for myself and my child--with support, not pressure. Choosing adoption didn't mean I didn't love my son. It meant I loved him enough to want more for him than I could provide at that time in my life. AIM understood that, and they honored it. They helped connect me with a family who was ready, loving, and able to give him everything I hoped he would have--a stable home, a bright future, and unconditional love. Even then, they didn't disappear. They continued to check in and offer counseling and emotional support, reminding me that my story wasn't over just because I had placed my son into another family's arms. To this day, I carry both the pain and the peace of that decision. Pain because I let go of someone I loved more than words can express. Peace because I know he was placed in a safe, loving home where he could thrive. And gratitude--deep gratitude--for AIM, who walked beside me during the darkest time of my life and never let me feel alone. Looking back, I realize that the strength I found in myself was made possible by the strength others shared with me. AIM didn't just help me through an adoption--they helped me see my worth, my courage, and the depth of my love as a mother. For that, I will be forever thankful.

Then my neighbor told me about AIM Adoptions and it changed my life forever! They aren't there "just to take your baby" and be done with you! Which is such a common misconception! They become your family! They took care of me until I had my baby because I was confined to bed and couldn't work! As I said, it was 32 years ago and I truly feel as if the employees are family even the ones that have since retired. Because they are not just employees - this is not just a job it is a calling! And now God has brought my life full circle and I get to be a part of the team! I was hired in February of this year. I get to be there and give encouragement to the birth mothers having gone through the experience and I get to give the adoptive parents a first hand view of what the birth mother goes through. There is even support for me 32 years later with group counseling. Not only do I feel the agency employees are family, I have a family of birth mothers that know what I have been through and still go through. We are there to love and support each other! I would not trade my experience for anything in the world!! As I have explained to people, placing my child for adoption was the single hardest thing I have ever done in my 57 years but also the single greatest thing I have ever done in my life. So, whether you are a birth mother or a family looking to adopt - AIM Adoptions is the place for you!

When I found out I was pregnant I felt overwhelmed and completely lost. I called a lot of agencies and most of them felt cold or transactional. This agency was different from the very first phone call. They treated me like a real person the entire time, not just somebody placing a baby. They helped me with housing, food, medical needs, emotional support and made sure I was okay throughout the pregnancy and after placement too. Jenifer, Mary and Eloisa were all kind, supportive and available when I needed them. I never felt pressured or abandoned which was one of my biggest fears going into this. I recently saw updated pictures of the baby I placed and he looks incredibly happy and loved. That gave me a lot of peace and made me realize I made the right decision for both of us. If anyone reading this feels scared or unsure during an unexpected pregnancy, I truly recommend talking to this agency.

The rented space is large, airy, and spacious enough for several kennels to line the walls without overcrowding. Due to the high ceiling, warehouse style accomodation, it smells fairly fresh & clean in here. It's also dark and cool, and most dogs were found napping their way through the morning...a stark difference from other adoption places I've been to. It was easy to move through the space, and foster parents sat next to their pups like proud parents, eager to do a show and tell if so requested. What I liked most about this place is that the dogs here seemed to be happy! I rarely saw nervous, jittery dogs. Most were in their kennel, eager to play with visitors; others in their foster parents' arms, and some napping, barely opening an eye to peer at us. Though I did not come away with a new child that day, I wouldn't hesitate adopting one from this group. I spent a good 20 minutes talking to a foster mom about this organization and I'm completely thankful and hopeful that there are still many altruistic people left in this world. If you're considering adding a member to your family, please put Pup Squad Animal Rescue on your list as a must-visit.

This program is great when you think that most people want to get a puppy when they get a dog, but…read moreif you want to do your part and get a rescue dog, your chances of getting a small breed puppy decreases to about zero. They have dogs in all shapes sizes and colors and all (I'm pretty sure) in good health. Our first visit there we were just curious but pretty interested in getting another dog to play with our very energetic shih-tzu and one that was small enough to accommodate apartment living. We walked around a bit and they did have some really cute dogs, but it wasn't until we spotted this adorable pup that I had the "gotta have this puppy" feeling. They told us he was a puppy mill dog and that he was a Tibetan terrier and maybe about 3 months old. We personally didn't have all day to make a decision and were hesitant to commit on the spot, but they guaranteed that we could have a one week home visit to make sure that we wanted to keep him and that he was compatible with our dog. They would hold the $120 check and if we didn't come back, they'd cash it. So, for $120 you get a puppy in good health who's been socialized through the foster program with as many/all of the shots and exams needed for the applicable age an optional microchip to have put in later rabies and county tags You have to fill out an application form, but they review it on the spot and if you're a shoe-in (i.e. you have a dog or know the risks/responsibilities of having a dog) they let you adopt. It was a painless process and we are very happy with our puppy. These dogs are rescues so I'm attributing that to the fact that we weren't quite sure of the age, how big he'd get, and if he was really the breed they said he was (we thought he was a bit jack russell for a while, but now due to his size, we are back with the Tibetan terrier.) The other great perk to having a rescue is that I know at least the VCA will give you a free first exam for having just adopted a rescue. A great program and system for adopting puppies! Just a note, puppy mill dogs, as I later found out, can have a lot of health problems on their own due to poor/careless breeding. Do your research!
