Looking forward to returning for their outdoor concerts in the Fall. We did the tour where we also poured a bottle to take home. Flavor of the month is watermelon. Nice that you can also purchase bottles of their vodka as well as merchandise. Afterwards we went a few miles away to "Over Yonder" for delicious food before heading back to DFW.

I had reserved a tour for 3 (I highly recommend that you do the tour and if you choose to do a tour that you make reservations in advance as they sell out) and initially I did 2 with bottle fills and one tour. The tours come with a ticket for a drink so that was a nice little extra. As the tour started Ryan & Diego (our fabulous guides) gave us some history of how the company started and as well as the process of how the vodka is made. We got to mix our bottle (as we got the lemon) and fill our bottles. We also got to put the caps on the bottle and see how the line works. At the end of the tour, we also got to taste some vodka. After the tour we decided to go get our drinks and the staff inside were just as kind as the staff taking us on the tour. There are so many drink options that I wasn't sure what I wanted as they have so many flavored vodkas. I was told I could sample the vodkas which I was grateful for as it helped me make a decision. My cousin got the raspberry cobbler and the Bloody Mary - the raspberry was sweet but good and I don't like bloody Mary's but I'd drink this one! I got the blueberry lemon, the prickly pear and the front porch . . . All were good to me. When we were there they had some guys playing music inside which was a little loud but sitting on the porch, it was nice to hear. They also had a pizza food truck outside and my cousin said the pizza was really good. If I could make a suggestion to the establishment I would ask them to PLEASE sell flights! Please please please as there were so many drinks that I wanted to try but unless I was gonna sleep in the parking lot I knew I shouldn't but I guess it's also a reason to come back!

There doesn't seem to be valet (or any kind of help noticable) when checking in. Not that I needed it, but that was my first impression. Parking is in the "Permit" required areas. Okay -- kind of figured that out snaking around the building but it should all be easier to understand coming in cold. Being part of a group, with a block of rooms, I booked a king with a sofabed. Ideally, I wanted two queens but I was too lazy at the time to call and ask and of course they were sold out at check in. Okay, no problem, I have that sofabed and for two nights we can deal with it. As we left for dinner I stopped at the desk asking if it could be made up for our return. Well, you would have thought I was asking them to do something illegal. Ah, no, I don't think we can do that. Let me check with the manager. Nope. Can't do that, and housekeeping has already left for the day. Everything SHOULD be there for you when it opens up and everything else needing SHOULD be in the closet. Well, it was but that experience was just a little weird. Otherwise, the hot and humid room did cool off with the AC after not too long and the place has a great location just around the corner from the real action of what reminds me of a mini Nashville.

Check in was easy, we were given a room on the 4th floor. We have stayed at Hyatt Place before in different cities so this was expected. The room had two queen beds, a nice L shaped couch, refrigerator and desk. The dressing area and restroom were decent. The water pressure left a lot to be desired in the shower. Our neighbors on the floor above us made a lot of noise late at night, like dragging and fighting or something. Had to call the front desk to report it. The clerk said she was there alone but would call and send security if it got worse. I guess she reached them because the noise stopped. Breakfast was free. I didn't eat breakfast but it was very nice and lots of options. Lots of restaurants within walking distance and very pretty little area. Parking was plentiful in the back, but your keycard was needed to get in. They had a nice pool and laundry area. Their market was nicely stocked, wish I had tried the giant cookies.

However - the prices of the snacks and concessions at the front desk are downright outlandish (see photo for details), and in my case, this led to a situation that was not merely annoying, but frightening and unsafe. If you arrived here via Uber, or someone dropped you off, or another member of your party has the vehicle, or you're in any situation where you're here (especially alone at night) and you don't have a car with you - then it REALLY sucks to be you if you need any sort of food - even just a small snack - that doesn't cost the same as selling a kidney on eBay. Have a hungry kid? Feeling thirsty? Need a bit of food and a softdrink so you can take some aspirin, but looking at these horrifically jacked up prices is making you need even more aspirin? Congrats! You get to walk, unarmed (the hotel does not allow weapons on the premises, so hope you got a blackbelt in Judo or something), to an extremely seedy gas station around the corner, with homeless people hanging out in the parking lot. Or, if you're feeling really adventurous and would rather take your chances crossing an intersection, on foot, four separate times round trip, and just hope people aren't driving like Mario Kart at the time (and if you have a kid with you, hope the motorists see the kid) - may the odds be ever in your favor. There's a significantly nicer corner store there, but have fun getting to it. The second picture is the view of the hotel and the seedy gas station, taken from across the intersection, at night. There is no reason or excuse for the prices at the front desk snack pantry to be so artificially inflated that hotel guests are forced to leave the premises under dangerous conditions to get a Gatorade and a pizza roll. I have stayed in HIX locations in multiple city centers all over the country, including downtown Houston and uptown and downtown Dallas - places you'd generally expect expensive amenities. Not by a longshot. HIX snack pantries in those areas didn't come close to the highway robbery here.

We stayed there for 3 nights. August 6th-9th. Room was 426. I got the strange feeling that people…read morewere being deceived over the internet by showing pictures of the few rooms that were fixed up to be shown online. * The entrance to the hotel was blocked off by contractors doing street work. Nowhere did the management of the hotel bother to place a sign to show where to go in. We circled around and then found a gap between the orange cones to go in. Every other parking space on the property was marked "Diamond Elite" without explaining what that meant or where to park. * The hotel management spent 100% of their budget on the lobby. Lobby was super clean , super nice. Everything else was shit. I cannot overemphasize this contrast. * No ac in elevators. Elevators were scuffed up and dirty. And poorly lit. * Elevators were indicating going up lights when they were going down. Other times they were stopping at random floors. * The staff was poorly dressed and we could tell the staff from people walking around the hotel. No uniform or name badges were present. People were wandering around the hallways carrying large empty trash bags and talking to their relatives on the phone. Construction guys were using the same elevators as the guests. They had dirty shoes and clothes covered in sawdust. * Hallways stank of chemicals and the rug smelled bad.Nothing looked or felt like the well-lit well decorated lobby. The hallways had old carpets and old lighting. * Ice machines broken on most floors. We had to ask around and go to the 6th floor to get ice. There was no signs indicating they were broken and from the looks of it they had been broken for months. * The cover to the ice bucket was too small for the bucket itself. The cover would fall in and sit on top of the ice, leaving room all around for the ice to melt. * No staff spoke English. We had to navigate everything through gestures and head shakes. * The main lamp on the table was broken and did not work. * There was a sign by the blinds in our room to not manually open or close them but to use the automated system provided. The automated system was broke. * All the furniture was old and from another hotel. We have stayed in several Holiday Inn Express hotels. This room had none of the standard furniture you see in those places. * No ac in the bathroom. The bathroom was hot and stuffy the entire time we were there. * The toilet seat did not stay up. * Mildew in several places in the bathroom, in all around in areas where the walls meet the ceiling. This is likely result of the poor ventilation and warmth in the bathroom. * The seat for seniors in the bathtub was ridiculously heavy and did not stay up. Upon closer inspection, it was poorly installed, with one side sticking out an inch past the other one, making it impossible for it to stay up. The results was that unless you were elderly and using the seat you had half the bathtub to stand in and take shower. Try it sometimes. It's horrible. * There was no phone or intercom in our room. No way to call the front desk to ask anything. * The toilet ran throughout our visit. Since there was no phone or intercom to call the front desk, we would go downstairs to tell the front desk. But after waiting for them to clear the guests that were already waiting at the front desk, we would give up and leave. * At breakfast their ovens were broken and so only cold breakfast was provided, taking away that one key feature that makes putting up with shitty hotels like this worthwhile. * The gym room, laundry, and pool was located on the basement in poorly lit, poorly ventilated rooms. It was stuffy and hot in those places, uncomfortably so. * We were not alone in facing any of these issues. Each time we were at the front desk. We heard people complaining; one person was changing rooms because their ac did not work. Others had issues with the elevators etc.
