Went to to Texas Cattle Company for dinner with friends and was blown away with the amazing service we received. I had problems with the Chopped Bison being extremely overcooked, they explained that it is often cooked well done. My waiter jumped into action and got with the manager to offer me another meal of my choosing. I told him since he had been there so long that he could choose just make it med. rare. He didn't disappoint. The t-bone was perfect with lots of flavor. My husband ordered the pork chops and was immediately transported to flavor town. Texas Cattle Company is always a nice spot for dinner and a solid evening out. We started with the lobster bisque, which was decent but not really worth the price point. The fried mushrooms were cooked perfectly and paired well with the horseradish sauce, though the gator tail was a bit chewy. For the entrée, I had the bone-in dry-aged NY strip. The steak had great flavor, but for the cost, it didn't fully wow me the way I expected. I had 2 of my friends refer Texas Cattle Company and they loved it so much I had to try it for myself. I set reservations through OpenTable and once we arrived we had about a 15 min wait. When you walk in it's decorated like an old school steak house, dark floors with dark lighting. Our server greeted us (I believe his name was Shawn) and he was amazing. Since it was our first time visiting he gave us the history and his recommendations. For appetizer we ordered the Fried Mushrooms, they were ok a little salty to be honest. We ordered the Filet Mignon and a Ribeye 22oz. My husband's steak came out hot as well as his baked potato, his literally looked picture perfect. His steak tasted average, I've actually had tastier steaks from chain restaurants compared to this one. As for my filet mignon it was barely luke warm, you could tell that it was sitting at the window for a minute before coming to the table. My side of potatoes were barely warm and extremely dry. I advised the server and he was super apologetic and rushed to get me a new filet. When I got my new filet it was smaller than my original steak and it was colder than my original steak. At this point I didn't send it back anymore and just asked for the check. Needless to say I will never be back to Texas Cattle Company. Such a good steakhouse, def the best lakeland has to offer. They are the same people who own Charley's steakhouse in tampa so you know its good! DANG BANG SHRIMP- your classic bang bang shrimp, extra crispy. CAJUN FRIED MUSHROOMS- double fried mushrooms, cant go wrong. Cedar Plank Island Salmon- perfect char and the cedar plank definitely adds to the flavor. First experience at Texas Cattle Company on Friday night as walk ins without reservation. We waited about 15 min to be seated at a hi-top table in the bar area. Not my usual favorite but it was the shortest wait so we took it. We ordered Petite Filet Mignon with side of grilled broccoli ($45) and Double Crispy Parmesan Chicken breasts ($29) with side of mashed potatoes. Each entire came with a house salad with a house dressing and cheese crusted dinner rolls. The Petite filet was served a little more cooked than we ordered however it was quite tasty. The grilled broccoli tasted strange so we left that on the plate. The Double Crispy Parmesan Chicken Breast was humongous covering a platter. In fact, I believe that it could feed 5 -6 adults. I ate a small portion and the leftovers took two take home containers. Now the taste. I thought I was getting grilled chicken with a crispy Parmesan cheese melted over it.....what I got was fried chicken filets with a light Parmesan gravy or sauce on it. This was not my favorite dish. I didn't care for the taste of the chicken and the Parmesan sauce/gravy didn't have much taste. I did bring home the leftovers which we will eat a few times this week with a different sauce each time. The mashed potatoes were typical mashed potatoes. The house salad was pretty good except it included chopped olives throughout and I really dont like olives which was great as my husband loves them so he got extra salad. The cheese crusted dinner rolls were quite good although it would have been nice to have butter with them. I'm sure had we asked, they would have brought some. Overall this was a good experience although quite a bit more pricey than we are used to spending on dinner for two. We may return again for a special occasion. From the perfectly cooked 16 oz New York Strip and colossal shrimp scampi to the rich bacon and cheddar mashed potatoes--every bite was a hit. The bang bang shrimp had the perfect kick, and the shrimp and lobster bisque was creamy and full of flavor. The garlic cheese and butter bread was dangerously good, and the "Tott" shelf margarita topped it all off perfectly. We had a less-than-great experience initially, and honestly, it was disappointing. But what happened after that completely changed everything. The follow-up wasn't just better--it was 1000% better, and that says a lot about the character of this restaurant. A massive part of that turnaround was our waiter, Cannon. He was absolutely outstanding--professional, attentive, genuine, and clearly someone who takes pride in what he does. Cannon didn't brush anything off or make excuses; instead, he went above and beyond to make sure we felt heard and taken care of. His attitude alone turned the entire experience around. Mistakes can happen anywhere. What matters is how a place responds--and Texas Cattle Company nailed it. Have been coming here since the 90s. Celebrated many family birthday dinners here. While the food has usually been pretty consistently good, the prices have had to (obviously) increase over the years. Now, the birthday discount is $25 off (with purchase of 2 entrees) and the cowgirl steak (which used to be the free birthday steak) is currently $54. With the mandatory gratuity fee of 21% (for the birthday promotion), the discount almost covered the tip. *FYI: discount is valid only on birthday with a FL's drivers license which you give to your server to verify. Service has been inconsistent over the years - sometimes it's good, sometimes it's not so good. The last few times we went for someone's birthday, it seemed like we were waiting around a lot after we were done eating (most likely, just due to having new servers). This visit, we had cajun fried mushrooms as an appetizer (very tasty with crunchy breading and great peppery seasoning), unsweetened tea ($5 & tasted weird/probably due to the water?), and a blueberry mojito (good, but much better at other restaurants in Ybor/Tampa) for drinks. For entrees- we had the cowgirl steak with mashed potatoes and the double pork chops with loaded Texas fries. Steak was great as usual, red mashed potatoes were flavorful with garlic and green onions. Pork chops were also great as were the loaded Texas fries (per my husband). The complimentary house salad is always good (with green olives and vinaigrette) and cheesy soft bread rolls were a nice surprise (tasted different from the last time we visited when the bread was hard). *TLDR: Texas cattle company is great for a pricier steakhouse meal in Lakeland. Food is consistently good. We spent $140 for two people (with a birthday discount). The ambiance is informal / casual. We were able to get in no problem with "day of" reservations (soon after opening at 4pm). Next year though, I think I would rather spend more money and go to Bern's steakhouse in Tampa for a more "special" dining experience. read more

We have visited Texas Cattle Company 5 times in the past year because we love it tremendously! The food is phenomenal, the environment is country/western vibe, and the staff is always amazing. Nothing seemed to compare to what I could do at home with a reverse sear on the Kamado Joe and some rubs from Whiskey Bent. But recently, I tried the Cattle Baron 22oz ribeye, It was the best ribeye I've had in a restaurant setting. I'm sad to say that we unfortunately won't be returning. Texas Cattle Company has always been our go-to place for special occasions, and we've had good experiences there in the past. My husband and I even made reservations there for our last two anniversaries. Last year the experience was definitely off and not good, but we decided to give it another chance this past weekend. Unfortunately, both of our steaks -- each over $60 -- were served barely warm. My husband's steak was extremely tough; it was so difficult to cut that the entire plate moved across the table as he tried. Quite surprising for medium rare. Got seated and got our drinks, which was water by the way, we ordered an appetizer, which was the Bluechips, excellent choice, then ordered our meals, thought they would be our salad next but waited almost 15 minutes just for the salad, I guess our server had forgotten about us. We had to ask another server what was going on and then we finally got our salads then our entrees which were very good. The steaks are actually pretty good. I remember when the "cowgirl "steak was so large that you could not finish it. That is most certainly not the case now, in 2025. Every time we go, the portions continue to shrink and the prices continue to go up. Not long ago, you would have so much food, you would need a stretcher to get back to the car. Again, that is most certainly not the case now. They tried to make the portions look bigger by using smaller and differently shaped plates. A pretty slick trick if you ask me. But my belly tells me different. They do try to fill you up on bread and salad so you're pretty much almost full by the time you get your much smaller steak. Just keep that in mind when you go. The sides are fair, the chicken is fantastic (again the portion size has gone down significantly, and the rest of the food is mostly good. They serve Pepsi products which 90% of the time it tastes flat. Sweet tea is so-so. Just go with water, but keep in mind it is unfiltered so the chlorine taste is strong. Air-conditioning system there is fair at best, it is always very humid of the side. They really should have it looked at. Did I mention the portion sizes? A complete disappointment.
