Texas Cattle Company is always a nice spot for dinner and a solid evening out. We started with the lobster bisque, which was decent but not really worth the price point. The fried mushrooms were cooked perfectly and paired well with the horseradish sauce, though the gator tail was a bit chewy. For the entrée, I had the bone-in dry-aged NY strip. The steak had great flavor, but for the cost, it didn't fully wow me the way I expected. Overall, we still had a good experience and enjoy coming here, but there are a few areas that could use some improvement.

I had 2 of my friends refer Texas Cattle Company and they loved it so much I had to try it for myself. I set reservations through OpenTable and once we arrived we had about a 15 min wait. When you walk in it's decorated like an old school steak house, dark floors with dark lighting. Our server greeted us (I believe his name was Shawn) and he was amazing. Since it was our first time visiting he gave us the history and his recommendations. For appetizer we ordered the Fried Mushrooms, they were ok a little salty to be honest. We ordered the Filet Mignon and a Ribeye 22oz. My husband's steak came out hot as well as his baked potato, his literally looked picture perfect. His steak tasted average, I've actually had tastier steaks from chain restaurants compared to this one. As for my filet mignon it was barely luke warm, you could tell that it was sitting at the window for a minute before coming to the table. My side of potatoes were barely warm and extremely dry. I advised the server and he was super apologetic and rushed to get me a new filet. When I got my new filet it was smaller than my original steak and it was colder than my original steak. At this point I didn't send it back anymore and just asked for the check. Needless to say I will never be back to Texas Cattle Company. The amount of we were getting charged I definitely had higher expectations. Service was great but the food horrible.

Such a good steakhouse, def the best lakeland has to offer. They are the same people who own Charley's steakhouse in tampa so you know its good! DANG BANG SHRIMP- your classic bang bang shrimp, extra crispy. CAJUN FRIED MUSHROOMS- double fried mushrooms, cant go wrong. Cedar Plank Island Salmon- perfect char and the cedar plank definitely adds to the flavor. A lot of their drink options sounded good but i got the Rose Lemon Drop- a martini with a rose flavored twist. so good i got it twice. The service was so good too. The waiters and some of the management came to say hello to us and they werent snobby at all, they were down to earth. The ambience is your classic steakhouse but also very relaxed. Return? First experience at Texas Cattle Company on Friday night as walk ins without reservation. We waited about 15 min to be seated at a hi-top table in the bar area. Not my usual favorite but it was the shortest wait so we took it. We ordered Petite Filet Mignon with side of grilled broccoli ($45) and Double Crispy Parmesan Chicken breasts ($29) with side of mashed potatoes. Each entire came with a house salad with a house dressing and cheese crusted dinner rolls. The Petite filet was served a little more cooked than we ordered however it was quite tasty. The grilled broccoli tasted strange so we left that on the plate. The Double Crispy Parmesan Chicken Breast was humongous covering a platter. In fact, I believe that it could feed 5 -6 adults. I ate a small portion and the leftovers took two take home containers. Now the taste. I thought I was getting grilled chicken with a crispy Parmesan cheese melted over it.....what I got was fried chicken filets with a light Parmesan gravy or sauce on it. This was not my favorite dish. I didn't care for the taste of the chicken and the Parmesan sauce/gravy didn't have much taste. I did bring home the leftovers which we will eat a few times this week with a different sauce each time. The mashed potatoes were typical mashed potatoes. The house salad was pretty good except it included chopped olives throughout and I really dont like olives which was great as my husband loves them so he got extra salad. The cheese crusted dinner rolls were quite good although it would have been nice to have butter with them. I'm sure had we asked, they would have brought some. Overall this was a good experience although quite a bit more pricey than we are used to spending on dinner for two. We may return again for a special occasion. We didn't try the desserts but they looked tasty.

Food was delicious as always. Our server Jayden made the evening special. He was very welcoming, helpful with suggestions (blue cheese on the escargot was delicious) and just pleasant in every way. A very pleasant evening!

Every single item I had at this place was absolutely delicious. From the perfectly cooked 16 oz New York Strip and colossal shrimp scampi to the rich bacon and cheddar mashed potatoes--every bite was a hit. The bang bang shrimp had the perfect kick, and the shrimp and lobster bisque was creamy and full of flavor. The garlic cheese and butter bread was dangerously good, and the "Tott" shelf margarita topped it all off perfectly. Shaun took exceptional care of us, attentive, courteous, and truly committed to great customer service. This experience was top-notch from start to finish.

We came early to try some drinks at the bar before our dinner reservation even though it was very busy for a Saturday night the bartenders handled the bar well and got drinks out quickly. They were made very well. We tried the Old fashioned and Watermelon Celebration. Once our reservation came up they sat is quickly and our waitress JP greeted us and explained the menu. Our food was delicious and the meal was spaced out perfectly. I was so impressed with the service and the quality of food.

Another great dinner at Texas Cattle Company in Lakeland. We had reservations and were seated on time. Had the gator appetizer. Very delicious. We all decided on the center cut sirloins for the main course. I topped my steak with blue cheese. Definitely a great choice! Our waitress Pj was on point. It was a great dinner and we will return. Best steakhouse in Lakeland!

    Beautiful interior

The ambiance was beautiful, the food was absolutely amazing and the service was fantastic!! It is a little higher priced but the portions are huge and everything tasted spectacular. We highly recommend

Not knowing what to expect, we made reservations and were greeted with pleasantries, immediately seated, and welcomed. The octopus was smoky and tender. Just right-at least that's what little red riding hood said . I don't remember much else because food kept coming and I kept eating. We had the best service that night and the owner came and spoke with us. He told us the reason behind the name which is when his family came to the US. Fast-forward to July 2, 2026, I visited Lakeland, to see my mom who lives there. The hotel happened to be down the block from Nineteen61. My mom's appetite had waned. I was concerned but knew if she got what she wanted it would help her to regain her appetite. She wanted an entire snapper. Not many restaurants serve the whole fish (head and all). I called and, what do you know, they serve deep-fried yellowtail snapper. The whole fish. Reservations for 8:30pm the same night and we arrived at 8:10 p and were immediately seated. I had the miso salmon, hubby had the rack of lamb, and mom got her fish. We added ripe plantains and started with the calamari. It was not bready. Just the right amount of dusting for a crunchy texture. But the sauce was tangy and sweet-so good. Oh, the salad-nix the cheese. The dressing is amazing. My husband ordered the Riesling, and I got the moscato. Mom went with a strawberry daiquiri. Here is where things get interesting. We are sweet wine drinkers and the Rieslings we are used to are sweet. This was dry. So the server gave him a taste of the moscato and he went with that. I don't know what they do with wine when you send it back-so I opted to keep the glass of Riesling and mix it with my Moscato. I cannot explain the result. Suffice to say we both enjoyed the mixture. The restaurant was busy. That is always a good problem to have. The servers and bus teams worked swiftly and maneuvered among the diners, crisscrossing through the ravines created by the tables with finesse. We received a ample attention and we needed it-adding and asking for condiments to which they supplied. The bar was amptly stocked and the decor inside the restaurant captures the history. What was more appealing was the size of the restaurant made it feel like you were dining in your own private nook. Yes, I would return to Nineteen61 again and again. Worth it!

Unfortunately, what should have been a nice dining experience turned into one I will never forget. The food was actually good, but unfortunately, my alcoholic beverage was brought to my table with a fly in it. I had already taken several sips before noticing a black speck in my drink. After looking closer, I realized it was a fly floating in the beverage. I immediately informed the supervisor, who apologized and offered me a complimentary drink and dessert. While I appreciate the apology, I was disappointed that I was still expected to pay for my meal after an experience like this. Finding a fly in a drink that I had already consumed completely ruined my experience. This is not something I can simply overlook, and unfortunately, I don't feel comfortable ever dining at this restaurant again. I truly wish my first experience had been different, because the food itself was good. But customer service and food safety matter just as much as the food, and this experience left a lasting impression unfortunately, not a good one.

Looked to be clean and organized. Service was spot on and our hostess/server was quick to provide menus and silverware. She immediately took drink orders and returned rather quickly. My friends and I chose the buffet as it was recommended by my friend's cohorts. According to them "they have the best beans and BBQ buffet". A Looking it over there were several meat choices. There was hamburger patties in a brown gravy, several flavors of chicken wings, pulled pork, meatballs, and burnt ends. Overall it was okay at best. Flavors weren't consistent. For example I had a meatball that was very spicy. But the other was bland. I thought the burnt ends were a bit dry as if they sat there all day. The problem with that is we went as they opened. The pulled pork was a bit mushy. The BBQ wings were pretty tasty. I also tried the garlic parmesan. I thought they were a bit salty. Now for the sides. I felt the macaroni was a bit overcooked as opposed to al dente. Hush puppies were okay. The beans were actually good in my opinion. A nice addition was pork rinds. I don't know if they were house made and I forgot to ask. I really didn't go up for seconds as nothing really impressed me. Afterwards I did try their peach cobbler. Mushy and lacking either ice cream or whipped cream. They did have a salad bar. It looked to be fairly fresh. And I wanted to also add, for an extra $5 you can have all you can eat sliced brisket. At $17 I wasn't going to tack another $5 for kess than impressive BBQ. Overall I'd have to say there are far better choices for BBQ in Lakeland. Would I go back? Maybe, but I'd express my opinion. For what I paid I could have gotten a far better meal at Mojo Federal in Downtown. Just saying.

Another positive, there are a lot of gluten-free options if you eat meat! They even have a special menu that tells you the items that do have gluten. The fries are GF but in a shared fryer, but if that doesn't bother you I highly recommend them. The fries when they were fresh were amazing, but they tried to give us old fries first, which we ended up sending back because they were cold and mushy. Luckily, the next batch pulled through! As for the sides, the smoked corn was good but pretty salty, the sweet potato was so delish, the coleslaw was fresh and sweet and creamy, and the green beans were just green beans. They made a mistake on our order, fixed it, and then charged us extra for it. When we asked them about it, they said it was because they gave us extra food on accident, and therefore we would have to pay for the extra food.
