I love Texas inn! It's a great place to get a late night quick bite. The staff is also very attentive. I like the idea that I get to watch the chef make my burger. I think the tiny skillets are absolutely adorable. Cheesy western 10. Relish 10. Bacon, egg and cheese. 10 across the board. If you ever get the monster fries, I highly recommend the portion is huge so definitely bring a friend. My only negative is the seating and parking, but I believe it it's worth getting past to get a good meal, even if it means ordering to go. The bottle of cokes are always nice and cold and refreshing. Always a stop for me whenever I'm in Lynchburg. Not much has changed in the thirty plus years I have been eating here, other than the opening of the space beside them that has merchandise available e for purchase. You have to get a cheesy western. They have other burgers, but the cheesy western is a STAPLE. Should be considered a national treasure. The hot dogs are good as well and you can't go wrong with a bowl (of chili), but the cheesy western holds a special place in my heart and once you try it, it will in yours as wellI have gotten pints of the relish and can duplicate the western at home (I live in NC) but I still prefer the OG. Plus, the relish does not last long in my house as my family and friends slather it on every sandwich you can possibly think of whenever we have some. Texas Inn is an institution and should be revered as such. A must stop when visiting Lynchburg. They have two locations but the downtown one is the best (and the original). read more

Although I have heard about this establishment for decades, I had never stopped in until last week when I was in the neighborhood, and it was a delight. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was fast. I intended to order my food to go but changed my mind when I stepped inside. Well, I showed up around 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan 22 for a cheesy western. I used to live in Lynchburg and I was just back in town for a short time, so I needed to squeeze in a trip to Texas Inn! The gentleman served me a cheesy western no issues, but then a woman came out from the back room and stood behind the counter right in front of me complaining about her underwear or something. Then she started digging down the front of her pants, just about elbow deep, tugging and pulling, saying she felt like something was wrong "down there." I instantly spit out my food and walked out. What can you say about a place that has been open for the past 85+ years. To last that long they have to have something special and this place does. They have a great chili dog, at a fair price, in a nostalgic location which takes you back to a simpler time. The dog is fine, just a red dog. The chili for the dog has a good taste and matches well with the onions and mustard. Fries were great and the bottled cokes set the whole thing back to earlier times when life was slower. I got a pic of the fries but the dogs were long gone before I thought about taking a picture of them. When you add in the rather colorful staff, well it is just a great experience. Check them out. We always drive past this place and finally decided to try it. We got chili dogs and cheese fries and my daughter got a cheeseburger. It was the best chili dog I have ever had!! The fries had spicy cheese and were also equally as good. The cheeseburger was fresh and made right in front of us on the grill. My daughter said it tasted just like 5 Guys. Overall, food is delicious. The problem is that they don't read the whole ticket. I've ordered through DoorDash and Uber Eats. Both times, they've messed up my order. I'm not sure if they can't see that I've selected certain things to be on my burger/hotdog or they just refuse to follow my requests. No onion, no relish, and both times I ordered I got both, on my burger and my hotdog. When I go in person, the food is excellent with no problems. If you are anywhere within 100 miles of Lynchburg, you owe yourself a trip to Texas Inn. Log it as "self care." We were in town for a museum conference, caught up with an old friend, and she recommended the place. The building is an unassuming little pile- looks like it used to be a garage. It only seats 15, on stools at the counter. There were two people working when we walked in- the waitress and the cook- and two people eating. During the hour or so we spent there, more than a dozen people were in and out, getting to-go orders or eating in. (They also deliver.) The waitress called out orders like a pint-sized auctioneer, fast as customers could speak. And the cook kept up like he had extra hands. Darling Bride and I each got a Cheesy Western All The Way. This is a bun bearing a burger patty of immense deliciousness, anointed with onions and homemade relish, covered with a cheese omelette. We also split a large order of crinkly fries. Like teenage romance, it was all I had hoped for, but gone too soon, leaving me desperate for more. So we split a bacon cheeseburger, too. Deciding at this point that our diet was hosed anyway, we also had dessert. Hey, lunch was small and long ago. So Darling Bride got an ice cream sammich, and I ordered the coconut meringue pie. The pie alone was worth the 3 hour drive. The nice lady brought me a generous portion, so I did share a little. Well, a bite. My former work spouse got a bacon cheeseburger that, no lie, was nearly equal portions of bacon and cheeseburger, and a large fry. For four burgers, two large orders of fries, two desserts, two sodas and a disappointing glass of sweet tea -the flavour was just off, I guess it was the sweetener- the grand total came to $37 before tip. Sadly, they're closed tomorrow. But they don't close until 2:30 in the morning, so I may go pick up breakfast tonight and nuke it in the morning. read more

I've never in my life had a food experience quite like what we had here. First - the staff was so friendly and entertaining and were on their own a bit of a reason to try this place again. However - we ordered the cheesy western and when I tell you this sandwich was horrible I mean truly horrible and WEIRD ...
